Questions & Answers

Is it capable of scanning black-and-white film?

It can scan any negative film up to 35mm in size.

How long does this item come with a warranty?

The FS71 Magnsonic comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

How much memory does the magnasonic fs71 35mm film scanner have on board? Although some product descriptions state 128 MB, a customer service representative stated that the maximum storage capacity is 64 MB. ?

According to my instruction book, the scanner has 128MB of built-in memory, which can hold about 50 scanned images. SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards with a maximum capacity of 128GB will also be accepted by the scanner. I haven't been able to figure out how much memory the scanner has. So far, I've scanned over 1400 slides, and it's been a fantastic experience. I wish there was a way to reset the scanner's counter, which counts how many scans it has done. According to the specifications, the Model FS51 has 64MB of internal memory; perhaps the representative was looking at this one. I hope this has been of assistance.

Is it possible to colorize 120 negatives with this?

I scanned over 7,000 35mm slides with this scanner, and it worked flawlessly. I also have a lot of mounted slides that are 2 1/4 (two and a quarter inch) square, but they are too big for this scanner. You might be able to scan 120/220 negatives if you remove the slide from the mount, but there is no film holder/adapter for that size, so you'll have to slide the film into the scanner's slot, but due to the larger size of the negative, you might not get the entire picture into the scanning area. I hope you find this information useful.

Although this is a great converter, the converted images will need to be post-processed
4/5

When scanning slides, don't judge color or brightness by the unit's screen. This screen is too dim and the color balance appears to be off. I tried to balance the brightness and color balance (adding a little red) on the unit's screen, but the scanned images were too red when I transferred them to my desktop computer. I recommend scanning the images with all adjustments set to zero, then adjusting them on your computer with Photoshop or another photo-editing program. a program for editing (Sunsets have insufficient red when adjusted to zero. ) Otherwise, scanning the slides is quick and easy, requiring only one button, and the image sharpness is adequate. I also appreciate the large screen, which allows me to properly view the slide. All- All in all, I've found this to be the most cost-effective converter I've come across.

It's a good way to keep track of slides, but only in a limited way
3/5

The Magnasonic All-In-One System One 22MP Film Scanner can be used to quickly scan 35 mm slides, create a catalog, or view them on-line. If you need prints larger than 8" x 10" (20 x 25 cm), you'll need to use a screen. The resolution of the problem is a part of the problem: Although a Kodachrome slide has the equivalent of 50 MB of data, this device captures 14 megapixels, which are interpolated to 22 MP. There appears to be a lack of color depth as well.
Pros: Easy to use and set up, high throughput, brightness adjustment is simple, and dust from the light source is simple to clean. br>Cons: Clouds and other blown-out effects, as well as low resolution Out highlights are distinctly yellow, and color depth is limited. br>Tip: Cut manila folders into strips that are the same width as the media (e. g. , a sheet of paper). 5 cm for 35 mm mounted slides), write a series of slide descriptions, and photograph them before each box.

Excellent quality
5/5

My father died about a month ago, and I was assigned the task (privilege) of going through his old 35mm slides. He had a low-cost, low-quality scanner, so I decided to take a chance and try it based on the reviews. br>br>I could not be more pleased with this product!br>br>There was very little trial and error in figuring out features and loading slides to get them just right. It's of excellent quality. You certainly get what you pay for with this item. There may be better scanners available for a higher price, but given the importance (to me and my family) of preserving my father's memories, I'm glad I purchased this. It's impossible for me to criticize it. br>br>I'm not sure if or how much image files are compressed by Amazon, but I've attached a sample of a slide I scanned. It's been 42 years since this slide was created.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC SMALL DEVICE! After relocating from a large house to an apartment, I went through decades of slides and discarded all but three slide tray boxes
5/5

I had intended to have them scanned by a company, but instead decided to purchase this device and try it out myself. It only took me a few minutes to figure out how to operate this small machine, and I was quickly scanning documents. With the red, green, and blue options, I was able to adjust the brightness of slides that were too bright or dark, as well as do some color correction. After scanning the first 50 slides (without using an SD card), I simply connected the device to my Mac desktop computer via the included USB cord, and the slides were uploaded in seconds. I then clicked on the "import photos" button on my computer, then "remove photos from camera" to remove the slides from the scanner, and repeated the process with the next 50 slides. This is an amazing device.

I have a good chance of going through tens of thousands of school slides from the 1970s and 1980s
5/5

80s. I inherited thousands of old music department slides a few years ago, but my slide scanner was so painful to use that I only scanned a few of them before giving up. On this one, I've shot a few hundred slides and maybe 50 negatives. Because you can feed in from one side and out the other, it's very quick and simple to use. With the exception of some shading around the edges of negatives, the images appear to be as good as the source material. Advantages: br>br> It's a breeze to use and very quick. Excellent craftsmanship. It's versatile (it comes with a wide range of slide/negative feeders).
Cons: If your negatives are bowed (as mine are), you may need to remove the feeder to start them (5 seconds wasted). When scanning negatives, there is some shading on the left and right edges.

Quick, easy, and straightforward are the three words that come to mind when describing this process I'm in the process of digitizing 10,000 slides
5/5

Some of the individuals are in their fifties. The unit does a good job of lightening and darkening the image. The image becomes more contrasted, which I recall from having prints made. It also works well with negatives. I'm glad I made the purchase.

It's simple to understand and put into practice
5/5

When I was digitizing all of my old photos, I bought this. I was doing it with an app on my phone, but that method would obviously not work for slides. Based on Amazon reviews of similar products, I decided on the Magnasonic. It was a huge success. It was very simple to use, and I was able to quickly digitize hundreds of slides. The digitized images are saved to an on-board hard drive by the device. board SD card (which you'll need to buy separately if you don't have one already, as I did). Following the placement of the first slide in the appropriate cartridge and the selection of the slide size (e. g. Simply center the slide and press the button on the 35mm/126/110). As you press a new slide along the track against the first one, it is ejected. If necessary, you can adjust the images' color and brightness as you go. The unit also has an HDMI port, which can be used to connect it to a television to view the images. The money was well spent.

The third time proved to be the charm
4/5

Years ago, I bought a slide scanner (not this one) and put it to the test. a decent flat scanner (Epson) with slide attachment, as well as illuminating a slide and talking digital picture I gave up on the project because I believed I could do a better job with CAMERA than with either of the other two methods. It was just too much work for me, so I never did it. I needed to scan some slides, so I tried again, and this Magnasonic outperformed the Epson and was SO much faster than the camera method that I kept it and am happy with it after scanning my first 100 slides. I don't have a removable card yet, so I just dump them (internal memory only holds about 90-100). 100 or so), then move on to the next batch.
