Extremely finicky and unreliable - > (Revised / Updated) Everything is now in working order)
5/5

(March 29, 2020) UPDATED REVIEW: br>It was discovered that I had received an older version of the cables after speaking with the manufacturer and conducting additional tests. They sent me the newer version at no cost, and there were no dropped drives or reliability issues after extensive testing with the new cables, which included a lot of cable movement and adjustments while the RAID arrays were built and running. Everything was in working order. I'd also like to mention that working with the supplier was a real pleasure, as they were extremely professional and pleasant throughout the entire process. As a result, I've raised my rating from two to five stars. br>br>In the future, I would do business with 10Gtek again, and I would recommend them to others. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ***NOTE: ***NOTE: ***NOTE: ***NOTE: ***NOTE: ***NOTE: ***NOTE: This is an old report that doesn't have all of the facts and doesn't reflect current viewpoints. It's only kept for historical reasons. )br>br>I have two LSI MetaRAID 9361-based RAID controllers. I have two sets of cables (a total of four cables) to connect the Intel 36x expander cards to an external chassis in a VMware host. br>br>At first, I bought a set of cables from another company that cost twice as much as these. I thought these cables by 10Gtek would be a great purchase for the second expander card when I saw the much lower price and high user ratings. Both sets of cables have been in operation for a few months now. br>br>Conclusion:br>These less expensive cables have dropped connections on multiple occasions, requiring arrays to be rebuilt; thankfully, no data has been lost. When these less expensive cables are bumped or moved a few inches in the middle (without touching the connection points), they almost always lose disks in the array, resulting in degraded arrays and a higher risk of data loss. By contrast, with the more expensive cables from the other manufacturer, this has never happened: br>br> Those pricey cables keep their connections to the drives even when they're moved around.

This is exactly what I needed for my FreeNAS setup
5/5

For the past few years, I've been using the 10Gtek SFP and DAC. At home, I'm currently putting together a FreeNAS system using enterprise hardware. I bought a SAS IT mode card with SFF-compatible connectors. It has 8644 connections, and my Dell MD1200 has SFF-compatible drives. Connectors with the number 8088 Electrically, they are identical; the only difference is the form factor. When both sides were plugged in, the drives were immediately detected. It's a simple pull on the release tab to let it back out, and it's a nice easy but positive click to know you've got both sides locked in. I'm going to get a second one for multi-tasking. path I/O.

After all, there aren't any latching issues
4/5

From 2- to 3- a four-star rating The issue was resolved, but the plug design isn't perfect. br>br>The issue I had was that only one plug latched properly, while the other was loose and didn't latch at all. br>I noticed that one of the devices' sockets was poorly designed, allowing the cable's plug to be inserted in the incorrect orientation (180 degrees), causing a portion of the plug to bend slightly and the connector to not latch. br>I'm giving it four stars because I believe the connector should be protected from being damaged by the socket, but it's a great product otherwise.

It was ideal for my requirements
4/5

My SAS QNAP card needed to be connected to my external expansion unit, and I needed a cable to do so. The cable that QNAP includes with the expansion unit does not connect to their SAS card, but it is long enough that they do not have to be right next to each other, as the supplied cable would have required if it had worked.

The cable is of excellent quality
4/5

We've all tried to save money by purchasing cheaper cables, only to experience connectivity/speed issues. I switched to 10Gtek cables years ago and have yet to receive a bad one after 100 or so cables. Solid locking mechanisms and the proper speeds are essential. This is exactly what you'd expect from a high-quality cable. They are, however, overpriced in my opinion. With that said, I am willing to pay a little more to know that when I order a cable, it will always work.

It's fine; I used it to connect a netapp expander to a 7-series adaptec raid card, and it's been fine thus far

It's well-built and long-lasting. With my expanders, it's as simple as plugging them in.
