Sadly, I was unable to complete my project The router was extremely easy to set up and configure straight from the box Nothing to worry about and no questions to ask I noticed after I had used it for several hours that the speed was far below what it was with my old router When I compared the speed for an original connection to the modem with that for a connection to one of the LAN ports, I found that the latter was less than 10% of the original It was very good to contact Tech Support, who had me do extensive testing (more than once) By changing the default LAN address to 192, I achieved better performance As soon as I switched back to 192, I made 1 change from the default As soon as I changed 1 default, I noticed an increase in speed A direct connection is responsible for 70 - 80% of all connections As I expected near 100% accuracy, I assume that my router must be defective With just a day or two, I was able to return my router to Amazon I hooked it up, tested it, and it still only ran between 70 and 80% of its potential In five days with Tech Support, I failed to find any solution to my issue Despite their recommendation, I can't wait for the senior support folks to come up with a solution that may never happen My old router still worked with WiFi (but none of the LAN ports), so until I find a new router I can still play around If you just plug in your router, I suggest you do the following: First make sure the firmware is current Do not change your default LAN address (yet) 3) Run speed tests from your PC and modem and from one of the LAN ports on your As a good rule of thumb, make sure it's pretty close to the modem speed (my old router was between 96% and 99% of max) 4) If all looks well at this point, make the necessary changes to the LAN address (if it needs it) I hope that all goes well I am sorry to say that my experience was not good at all

Our Verizon technician had some misgivings about my use of their equipment, as it's his job to offer and sell Verizon's routers However, I was able to use their ONT box and Ethernet cable with this router without problems or any necessary hardware tweaking Although I expected to have to adjust it to make it work, it went straight into the computer without any modifications Our own router will pay for itself in under eight months since we save $12/month on our FiOS bill We are very happy The installation box contains a small piece of paper that includes the router's initial set-up ID and WPA2 password Do not throw it away As soon as you sign in to TP's website, you can set up your own security ID and password

After working with various internet routers, I decided that it was time to invest in a new router to avoid downtime I paid about $170 for the Netgear back in 2013 and didn't feel like I should spend the same amount (or more) on a new router I read a bunch of reviews and critiques on non-Negear routers so I decided to give this model a shot, the TP-Link AC1900 @ $69 The next day it arrived and I found it to be easy to set up (about 10 minutes) I was stunned at what a fast D/L connection I was receiving from this inexpensive device! With our old router, I had been able to get 40-50 Mbps using multiple devices on the opposite side of the house, and at the time, I really thought that was fast Due to the new router, download speeds increased to between 180-225 Mbps on the 5Ghz band - an exceptional rate It is very unlikely that this router will stop running within a short time frame, so I'd recommend it as a good investment for your $80 budget for a basic wireless router with no frills

My ISPs increase their introductory rates every couple of years, so I usually switch every couple of years Every time I need to install new security settings on every wireless device and set up a new router with port forwarding and DDNS, etc A recent instance when my ISP denied me access to my router settings was the last straw Therefore, I decided to get my own router and put an end to the intrusions As of yet, I do not even know what MIMO may be useful for As I have confirmed, my wireless printer can be connected easily using the router's WPS button; In addition, if it is pressed more than momentarily, it turns off or on the wireless signal There are two wires connected to the router I am more than satisfied with my 4 GB wireless signal in my house and yard My Dell laptop speed tests at 20-25 mbps max up/down when the signal strength is set to "medium" at most distances up to 25 feet inside the house and 50 feet in the yard As you moved 100 feet away from the house, the signal dropped slightly to about 3 down, 6 up or 12 down, 12 up, depending on which way the laptop was oriented When the orientation strength is "high," the poor orientation values double We also noted similar low speed tests and laptop orientation effects in a bathroom that was separated from the router by 12 feet and six layers of one-inch plaster My expectation would never be for a video to have problems streaming I am not familiar with higher speed results due to my hardwired computer's speed testing at 200 Mbps down, 35 up, which is the speeds my ISP provides, so I cannot comment No tech support was needed since the router did everything I needed, was reasonably priced, and has its own DDNS service that I find to be a nice bonus was looking for a device at less than $100 that would enable me to stream 2-3 HD video streams at once, so the TP-Link AC1900 Archer A9 was appealing to me I have set up the router in a week without a hitch for about 5 wired (with an ethernet switch) and 5 wireless devices, which included two Slingboxes and a temperature monitoring computer that needed static routing and port forwarding through DDNS NO-IP or DynDNS ) There is a downloadable 112 page user manual with live indexing that appears to be easy to use, but I haven't touched on topics such as VPN and remote management yet
