Questions & Answers

Can I let this dangle from the front of my computer if I plug it in and let it hang?

That wouldn't fall out, I think. My USB stick is plugged into the back of my computer, where it hangs there invisibly. The cable stayed in place on my Xbox when connecting 4 controllers.

Is there an AC adapter included in the box? How long is the connection cable?

I have noticed that my hub's cable is 10" long. Maybe they have updated this device recently. Powered by the USB port to which the hub is connected, the hub requires no external power source. In order to get what you put in, you have to put in some effort. Due to this, it won't charge devices such as an iPad when connected to a computer, but will do so if the charger is attached to a wall outlet.

Does this device charge Apple products like iPhones and iPads when it is connected to the wall plug or must it be connected to a computer to do so?

Unlike other USB hubs, this hub does not provide power to devices but is designed to facilitate printers, thumbdrives, and memory card readers that do not draw much power from a USB port. Two USB ports are available. It says the maximum input power of A 5-amp circuit). This is a UN-powered USB hub that provides no more power than what a typical smartphone charger would provide. It is designed for devices such as printers, thumbdrives, and memory card readers that use only moments of power from the USB port. Two USB ports are available. Power output of a USB port is limited to A 5-amp circuit). Smartphone chargers typically offer The current is zero amps). There are a couple of other benefits offered by tablet chargers. A to 2 in 8A. Those looking to charge their cellphones, tablets, battery packs, or any USB devices with a POWERED USB hub should do so. A USB hub can be identified by an AC power adapter plugged into the USB port.

How can I find out when the performance is. Is it possible to connect four pendrives at once? Data transfer between them or to the computer seems to be a problem for you?

A few files were transferred to check this item and it seems to have been smooth. On a USB memory stick, I found one of the problems. You can see here my test result. I use a Late 2012 Mac Mini with Lion, Kingston USB 2.0, and drivers from Apple. The USB 2.0 Memory Stick, a 1TB Micronet Fantom Drive (HDD), and the 4-port USB 2.0 Sabrent are all 16GB memory sticks. Hub 0 is not available. A few files have been transferred... According to some files transferring tests, this item has not been problematic. On a USB memory stick, I found one of the problems. I conclude that USB drives are much much slower than hard drives. The Sabrent 4-port USB 2 is available for purchase. A hub with 0 issues has not been a problem. Using a USB memory stick to transfer a large file is problematic. I should test more, but I found a large file couldn't be copied into the memory stick with an error message "....". Too large to be copied" The copy cannot be done because there is no space available. The memory stick on which I received this message was empty when I got the message. There was no problem copying 1 GB, 2 GB, or 4 GB. There are 21gb of files, but only 8 can be copied. Each of the two drives holds 75 GB. This is a file of 04gb. To figure out what size cannot be copied, I need to know its size.

I suppose I should put this where? Everything seems to be going well so far
4/5

I read posts about them getting hot and they do not (I have tried them) I can plug in my laptop to all of the ports Connected to my interface are two hard drives, my iphone and two hard drives They are doing great, and I have been using them all the time since I got them a couple weeks ago There are no rough edges to the buttons, and they are easily pressed The only thing I can think of is PUSHING AND PULLING THE USB IN AND OUT IS A LITTLE TIGHT SO YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO SO A LITTLE HARDER THAN YOU WOULD OTHERWISE A bit, but not a great deal There is just a noticeable difference in tightness In the event what I wrote was helpful, please make sure to click so that I know it is helpful Sincerely, thank you

The charger should not be used as a power source
3/5

This depletes the battery to the point of leaving it useless This extender/splitter is wonderful! I'm so glad I obtained it The idea was to charge two or more devices at the same time via a USB port Plugging in my phone and tablet gave me a very disappointing experience Even though the tablet shows that the charger is plugged in, there is a red "X" over the battery icon, indicating that it is not being charged That cord plugs directly into the original USB port (on which the 4-port charger was plugged) and it works fine However, I received a message telling me the charger was "slow charging" and that I should check to make sure it was properly connected Taking a shower after checking that all of the connections were good, I went to check my email After returning from lunch, I discovered my battery had DECREASED by 2% As I did with my other cord, I also verified that this one worked just fine Thankfully, it was only $8, since I'd already thrown away the packaging, and I'm not certain it is worth the time and effort of returning I am unable to use the device for the purpose I intended due to its shortcomings

Not compatible with accessories - what's the point?
3/5

Since my work computer includes Windows 7, when I started running out of ports, I chose this one specifically because it stated it worked with Windows 7 Connected it to the outlet after getting the package I was unable to use any of the items, even items that worked fine when my computer was directly connected There were no drivers needed (nice) and so I called support They said the device didn't work with accessories, like headphones, keyboards, and mice - only via USB to transfer data As well as why you would need to transfer data from 4 sources at once, I also can't understand why accessories wouldn't be supported It's so funny The return of the returning

What do you think of it? I was impressed when I first got this little hub
3/5

I liked that it had four hubs and individual on/off switches, as well as the right size Due to the fact that I'm getting my book ready for my manuscript, my laptop only has two ports and I need one for my fan, so I was excited to receive this hub However, the romance soon vanished as the hub started getting hotter and my USB drives started getting hotter My manuscript has been affected by corrupted documents, which I am trying to complete Whenever I pull up a document of your title, it opens another document and I cannot find the document I'm trying to find There is something that you ate/ misfiled/ misplaced I have included the first four chapters of my book in this document There is something mysterious going on, but they are nowhere to be found It seems that the heat from my hub is causing my documents to corrupt The heat today was frightening for me as I had located 3 documents that appeared to be lost, and I was scared that something might explode if you lose chapters, I suggest you verify your documents and the heat generation

Excellent product at a good price
5/5

I was amazed at how well this unit works (and I'm a gadget nut) There are solid USB connections on this device It does not feel loose or cheesy in any way Mounting tape was used to attach it to the face of my tower PC This looks very solid and functions well As an amateur photographer, I am constantly unplugging my camera to do something different I have saved myself a lot of frustration by having this Even if the cables are plugged into the hub, just turn off the L and the cable will remain plugged in I no longer have to hunt for power cables because I now have power switches It's been a month now that I am using it full time and I have not experienced any issues After having gotten over the "if'y" reviews, this is one of the best decisions I ever made

The model I got has the power adapter built in (YES!) and it is awesome
5/5

You can turn off individual ports separately which is very convenient for me I give it a 5 USB hub that does a great job One of the things I enjoy about it is the buttons with blue light indicators that turn on or off each individual port When I opened the box, I expected to find the one with the power connector hole, and I got it! A new model was developed (HB-UMLS), BUT In the packaging and information included, there was no assistance on what kind of power adapter to use I need to figure out how much voltage and amperage I will need for this hole I can see that it measures 5mm in diameter As you can see in one of my pictures (attached), it's powering a Razor Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 keyboard and a Logitech G35 surround headset (plus a scanner and another laser mouse - which doesn't use a lot of power Data is mostly involved) After I plugged my phone in with both ports on, it would not even register as a data device So I disabled the two other ports so it started working as a data device This device would probably be able to power only one device that is so energy-hungry As long as I get the appropriate adapter, it might power more devices
