Questions & Answers

How comfortable is it to look at the LG 34wn80c- How long do you think it will be before you get eye strain (if any at all)?

It's really nice, with very little light falloff in the corners and a great picture. Even at the lowest backlight setting, there is no discernible flicker. I work as a software developer and spend eight hours a day staring at a computer screen. I had to return a monitor because of eye strain, and it was something I was concerned about as well. This monitor has made my life a lot easier.

Is there a risk of damaging the monitor or the mac if I connect it to a Macbook Pro (which requires an 85w power supply rather than a 60w) without using another power supply?

No, your monitor and Mac will work fine; the voltage is what matters. Take into account that Wattage is equal to Voltage * Current. What 60W means is that the monitor can provide a maximum of 3A of current at a fixed voltage of 20V, and what 85W means that the power supply can provide a maximum of 4A of current at a fixed voltage of 20V. A current of 25A is required. Unless your Mac's battery is being depleted at a rate faster than 60W, the monitor will be charging your computer. Even if your Mac's battery drains faster than 60W, it will not be charged, but it will not harm your computer. The voltage is the most important factor; anything less than 20V, or possibly even 19V, is dangerous. Because the voltages in USB C have now been standardized, you can use any USB C charger with confidence.

Is it possible to mount it on the wall?

LG 34" x 21" x 21" x 21" x 21" 10 USB-C 9 Curved WQHD IPS HDR Curved WQHD IPS HDR Curved WQHD IPS HDR C 3- Model 34WN80C-B is a virtually borderless monitor on the side. A VESA Wall Mount Interface Pattern of 100 x 100 mm is found on B. ^IFV

Will the evga geforce gtx 1060 gpu work well with this monitor?

Yes. The other respondent appears to believe that this monitor operates at a frequency higher than 60 Hz, which it does not. For the vast majority of games, a GTX 1060 will suffice. Just make sure that in game settings, frame rates are limited to 60 frames per second. It's also worth noting that most games with a competitive mode (i.e. FPS and RTS games frequently have a 16:9 aspect ratio. As a result of the 9 aspect ratio, there will be black bars on the sides.

For software development, this is an excellent monitor
5/5

I got a good deal on an LG 34WL500 from Bestbuy, but the resolution was 2560x1080 - not ideal. There was some ghosting and blurriness around the text, so it was set a little too low. br>I recently purchased a LG 34WN80C- The image is much sharper, more defined, has better contrast, and is much brighter in B with 3440x1440 rez. br>Out-of-the-box thinking br> There are no flaws or light leaks in the box. bleed. br>USB-C is a type of computer that connects to a computer via C is extremely useful because it charges my MacBook Pro without the use of a charger. br>The monitor's height is also a plus, as it sits high enough above the screen on my laptop.

Monitor is excellent - Software that is just fine
5/5

The display is excellent - perhaps on the verge of being exceptional - However, the software they promote to split the screens isn't nearly as good as it appears. br>br>I'm using a MacBook Pro (USB-C) to power the monitor. > monitor is fantastic) and dividing the monitor down the middle with software. The LG software has the following flaws: 1) It does not split the monitor as if you were using two monitors. To give you an example, if you have two monitors, you can full-screen one of them. Apps for screens and three-dimensional objects swiping a finger across the screen to the next full-screen app Apps that have been filtered You can't use full-screen mode because LG software creates two "sections" instead of two "monitors. " In split-screen mode, there are two apps on the screen. if you're a full-time employee It takes up the entire screen of the computer. 2) When using split screen, apps do not remain on the same virtual monitor. When they're side-by-side, it's extremely inconvenient. Applications on the side (e. g. , When switching between apps (for example, composing an email on one side and looking at notes on the other), apps will randomly switch sides. I spend half of my day reorganizing my apps and putting them back where I want them. Apart from that, it's a very nice monitor.

This is not a game
3/5

The image quality is excellent, but the refresh rate is only 60 cycles per second. Regardless of how good your graphics card is, if you plan on playing any higher-end games with this, you will experience screen tear.

There is no power in USB ports! I just finished putting up my new monitors on the wall, complete with stereo speakers, a 4k monitor on top for watching media (movies, streaming, etc), and this monitor on the bottom for that great ultra wide real estate it provides to boost office productivity (and I'm sure it's also a great gaming monitor)
4/5

However, I'd like to clear up some confusion about the two USB 3. 0 ports that appears to be circulating. On the back of the monitor, there are no ports. I wanted to use LED lights that plug into a USB port, but there were none available! I tried the second port, but the problem persisted. When I contacted LG customer service about this, they informed me that the USB 3 port is the only source of power. If you have the USB-C adapter, you can connect up to 0 ports. Your computer has a C port attached to it. THE USB 3. THEN the USB 2. So I put it to the test, and the USB 3. 0 ports did indeed come alive. Once the USB-C cable has been plugged in, there are 0 ports available for connecting to the LEDs. The computer's C port was plugged in. Running the USB-C port is a minor annoyance. To maintain the wireless appearance, a C cable must be run through the wall, but it is well worth it. I also like the Windows Snap software that comes with this monitor. When I can post multiple windows, especially with Windows 10's multiple desktop feature, it speeds up my work tremendously. That excites me. Overall, I'm very happy and grateful to be upgrading from my old dual 19-inch square monitor setup to this new creature comfort.

For MacBook users, this is an excellent display
5/5

I'm using a 2017 13" MBP to power this fantastic display, and I'm very impressed with the image quality and features. Having a single USB port is extremely convenient. The C cable is a game changer because it charges the computer while also providing display output. br>br>A few pro tips based on using the monitor for several days: I'm not a designer or display expert, but I find that the resolution and quality are both more than adequate for my workflow (mostly email, Excel, presentations, video calls, and so on). br>br> (1) To take advantage of the large display and assist with window management on a Mac, download a utility like Magnet or LG's own OnScreen Controls software. (2) Because there are no built-in speakers, it is recommended that you purchase a pair of speakers to go with this display. (3) With several USB-connected devices, I found a cheap set of Creative USB speakers for $20 that works perfectly. I was hoping to power everything with a USB hub connected to one of the two ports on the back, but I was getting a power draw error. Everything that does not require computer interaction is now connected to a hub that is plugged into a power outlet.

Relentless Multitaskers will love this monitor
5/5

This monitor is ideal for people who need a lot of windows open at the same time and have a USB port on their computer. C system. It's perfect for a 15-inch MacBook Pro. For connecting the webcam and desk lamp, I've connected a small USB hub to one of the monitor's two ports. I'm using a USB 3. 0 to Ethernet adapter. For network access, the 0 adapter is linked to the other. The MacBook Pro is connected to everything via a single USB port. There was no problem with the C cable. br>br>In gaming, points are deducted because 1) the monitor is only 60hz, 2) the monitor does not do any frame syncing (g sync or free sync), and 3) most competitive games do not support 21:9 aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is 9:1. None of this will affect you if you aren't a gamer. This isn't a gaming-oriented display.

USB- C isn't compatible with the MacBook Pro
3/5

The USB port was the sole reason I purchased this monitor. To connect to my MacBook Pro, I use the C port. The signal is detected by the monitor, but the display does not work or turn on. I've experimented with various cables and connections. It's not working any longer. HDMI is fine, but I need to connect my MacBook to a bulky HDMI hub. This is driving me crazy. If this is the reason for your purchase, don't make it. This is a problem I've noticed with other reviewers.

Good Buy! The display was defective right out of the box, with half of the screen being completely dark
5/5

I contacted LG and had a great experience with them. They confirmed that it was a defect and provided me with a case number so that I could contact Amazon and have it replaced. I called Amazon, and what should have taken two or three minutes took nearly 15 minutes. I had just opened the monitor and discovered that it did not work, and I have a case number from LG to prove it. "Don't worry, a replacement is on the way," Amazon should have simply said. Instead, they asked if I wanted to fix it (which I obviously did not) and then they had to call LG. Finally, I was passed on to another person to mail another monitor. br>br>I received the new monitor in two days (extremely quickly), and it is fantastic. It piques my interest. It's something I'd suggest to anyone.
