On an ASUS ROG Strix X570-M, I've included a screenshot of a benchmark that shows results for this NVME SSD. e motherboard with AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor In sequential read operations, the WD Blue SN550 meets its performance targets. Real- However, the performance of an NVME SSD drive is only marginally better than that of a standard SATA SSD drive, which isn't nearly as significant as the difference between a mechanical HDD and an SSD, especially given the RAM caching and other performance-enhancing technology incorporated into newer SATA SSD drives. The sequential read/write MB/sec rates shown in the benchmark screenshot are absurdly high, but look at the bottom numbers for random read/write (which is closer to real-world rates). Rather than testing a bunch of standard disk I/O operations, we'll focus on the real world. Those figures aren't all that different from what a SATA SSD would show in a benchmark. You'll be disappointed if you expect Windows 10 (or Mac OS) boot times to be noticeably faster on NVME than they are on a standard SATA SSD. While NVME (vs SSD) may save a few seconds on the OS and some app loading times, the overall performance improvement is only marginal. However, NVME is a good choice if you're building a new PC and want the best possible performance from your OS boot drive, and it's not that much more expensive than a SATA SSD. If you're thinking about switching from a SATA SSD to an NVME SSD, the performance gain isn't quite enough to make the switch worthwhile. br>br>Overall, the WD Blue SN550 is reasonably priced and performs as expected. There is no clone software and the boot time is slow. It was a horrible experience. For a NVME, the boot process is extremely slow. The speed is comparable to that of my old sata ssd. For the average user like myself, there are no instructions or clone software. The only paperwork I had was for the warranty. To clone my windows and backups, I had to google for an hour and use third-party clone software. It was a horrible experience. WD saved money on cloning software because of its small size. You can't just assume that everyone wants to reformat everything and start over. You can't assume that all of your customers are PC mechanics, either. I have a strong desire to return it. In WD, I wanted to back a company that was based in the United States. I can see why Samsung just walked in and became number one right away.
