Questions & Answers

How much space does the user really have at his disposal? Would you mind if I had at least 230GB available?

The amount of free space on my system was 248.125.304.832 after reformatting to Apple's HFS+ journaled file system. There were 248.437.014,528 bytes in the raw data.

Has anyone owned this for at least 3 months and is still happy with it? Does it still work well today? I appreciate your help in advance, please?

This worked perfectly and was extremely fast. Nice even loading rate between 21MBPS & 28MBPS. There is a 31 MBPS transmission. There is a kind of balance that settles somewhere between these numbers and loads in almost the exact number over the course of the entire song (in my case). 28MBPS is what I get in my case. The NTFS file system is the one I use. The latter may be a bit faster, but I haven't tried it as it is capable, but I didn't want to format the drive just to find out how fast it is. Leaving the drive completely empty with a fast format was the best option since I didn't need to lock the drive. This is what I 'assume' to be true. I was satisfied with the playback. The fit of the function, from the Rxer, to the automobile, to the PC, was just right. It is very well built and, most importantly, extremely reliable. I have used Sandisk drives for years and their products are well made and dependable, but this particular model has very few heat build-ups and, as a whole, is reliable and the best I have ever seen. An example of this is a certain brand with a 'P' on the first letter that runs hot and is guaranteed to eventually fail, resulting in the loss of about 5600 songs. It is a constant challenge for me to get the songs to play in the exact same sequence as on the CD. I have not yet figured that out, and all USB drives seem to play them in the same order. My understanding is that there is a way to do this, but I haven't found it on any brand. I would appreciate any suggestions. Overall, this is a good bet at $11 and I love the graphics. Buying new is a great deal at 99. It's been a long time and nothing has come up,

If I plug it in, does it read it as a disk drive or removable storage?

When Windows is accessed, the system sees it as an external hard drive, but it functions like a regular hard drive. This drive can even serve as a boot drive if the BIOS will allow you to boot from removable media .

But all it takes is one bad experience to ruin your reputation with a brand
3/5

As a general rule, I don't write reviews, but all it takes is one bad experience to destroy a brand. Having owned several SanDisk products in the past, this is the first time I finally bricked one, but from my research, SanDisk drives have a tendency to go into "Write Protected" mode, where you cannot add or remove any data from them. As a result, you will be stuck with what's on there since it becomes "Read Only. ". It seems that SanDisk does not include a method for removing the write protection on my drive, and as listed on their website, there is no way to remove it or format the drive. This is because of a flaw/bug in this particular drive. However, SanDisk continues to sell them to uninformed customers who don't know this.

It runs hot and writes slowly, so we don't recommend it
3/5

Although the USB connector is uncomfortably hot when plugged into a USB extension cable without any reading or writing took place on this drive, it runs very hot for a plastic flash drive. The other problem is that writing is slow, especially when writing small files, but I understand that some metal cased flash drives also exhibit this problem. It would have been better to read the reviews here stating that.

After doing some research, I decided to purchase a SanDisk Extreme CZ80 64 GB flash drive to replace the old one. Using both drives as NTFS, it runs much cooler, and its write speed is five times faster for large files and twenty times faster for small files (this applies to both drives). In my opinion, even if you have to pay twice as much, it's worth it. To sum up, I do not recommend the Ultra CZ48, but the Extreme CZ80 is highly recommended.

I had two drives fail out of two when it came to reliability and durability
3/5

My two USB flash drives stopped working after about 20 minutes of use on 5/30/2018. I ran a disk benchmark on one drive and it went into "write protected mode" right away. I then tried to format the second drive to NTFS and it failed as well. As a result, the drive enters write-protected mode so no data is lost. A solution to this problem does not exist. I've attached the benchmark results I ran before the drive failed: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CrytalDiskMark Crystal Dew World 4x64 (C) 2007-2015 hiyohiyo

There is an issue with the software included with the drive
4/5

SanDisk Ultra USB 3 functions as an external hard drive. You would expect that 0 Flash Drive to work as expected. The card seems to work quite quickly in terms of transfers to and from it. There is a sliding button for inserting and removing the USB connector on the drive, like many others in its class. Additionally, it has a blue light to indicate readiness and activity during transfer. In order to insert the drive properly, it is labeled to make it clear which side needs to be turned up. This flash drive was purchased for full Amazon price. I merely wrote this review to share my experience with this flash drive with others. It recognized that there was an available update, downloaded it, but when I ran it, the update wouldn't run. The review I have written should be of some assistance to you. Alternatively, if you did not find this review helpful, I would like to know why, so that I can edit it and make it more useful to both you and everyone else. I will respond to your comment on the review, and attempt to include it in my review if it is at all possible to incorporate it. If you leave a comment, suggesting how it might be made more helpful, I promise to reply to your comment. In the same way I have been helped by reviews others have written, my goal is to compose reviews that are helpful to people. Please accept my thanks!.
