Selected User Reviews For SanDisk 16GB Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive - SDCZ36-016G-B35

The value is fantastic, the design is fantastic, and the software is excellent
5/5

This review applies to two products that seem to be almost identical. The device has 16GB of storage, which is more than enough for regular documents and even larger pictures. Honestly, I think it's much too large, and besides, no one wants to carry around so much stuff.
This glider is smaller than that glider, and that may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view. They are a little larger to my taste. I find this to be a good compromise, and its use is very easy. As an example, if you are scanning on this medium, the software will create a folder and assign a unique name to the file.
My only criticism is the same across the board, across all products and makers. The things they are made of are not very thick, and could be crushed by something heavy. In exchange for a more indestructible housing, I would be happy to pay more and give up some space.

My old 2g uSD cards are no longer usable and it's seriously sad
3/5

Buying three of these for USB RAID testing was a good investment. I cannot even begin to describe how slow it is to write about these things. . . It seems that this is a very common problem with SanDisk, which is disappointing. I have found reviews on another site in which it seems to be a recurring issue. /dev/zero in Linux returns a slow write speed even when you do a raw read. In most cases, a full blanking pass typically takes around 45-50 minutes. As for write block alignment, I have tried a variety of options on the file system and such, but that didn't really work. Then I have 2g uSD cards much older than these that can outperform this one. It probably makes sense to go with uSD the next time I buy USB flash storage since the rates are known and (supposedly) guaranteed.

I've never used a thumb drive that was so buggy
3/5

Several of these were purchased because I needed a quick back-up of some music files and documents, as I have a completely old SanDisk Cruzer with only 4 gigabytes of memory and it has worked flawlessly for years. The extra storage capacity was all I was looking for, and I confess that I am a nutter who wants an easy way (and a small size) to store stuff in a Faraday cage in case of an EMP or solar storm. The following is how it went (if you can get over that): First, open the first one and insert the card. My music folder is in my other drive - I just have to select the folders there and drag them (just as I always do). A couple of folders into the stream, the drive freezes. We have no choice but to give up. When the program is finally killed, the computer no longer sees anything in that space, it doesn't even recognize it. Reinstall it after you have taken it out. As soon as I saw it again, I could see it clearly. Using a different folder may yield the same result. Open a second package and insert a new thumb drive. Thinking maybe I got a bad one, I opted to open a second package. Retry. The same thing happens in a new folder (it always says that the file you are trying to move is no longer in the original path). You can now cancel the program by going back to task manager. I am unable to find the drive now. If I take out and reinsert the drive, my computer tells me I need to fix a potentially bad file, so I do so. Detection of the drive by the computer has been restored. After that, I try it with just a few documents, and it works fine. Next, I try three folders of music. Everything seems to be working fine. Thanks. . . Now I think I will need to move these files three at a time. Suddenly I get crazy and try to move no more than five folders at a time (this seems to transfer no more than 60 to 70 files at a time). . . . Once again, the system freezes. There is no point in continuing. You can even save items from your social networks on the latest versions of the apps. You're saving me at least two hours of your morning on a weekend.

I think this adds a great deal of storage space to computers
5/5

The software I test is open source. As a software tester, I often install and remove software up to 32 times in a single day. For a person who tests computer software, hard drives have a certain life cycle. Whether that life cycle is 100,000 or 1 million writes, it is always a certain lifespan. A number that high is extremely shocking for most people. It is something I do because every developer needs to know if the software they work so hard on is going to work when they are finished. frequently run into bugs in the software I test. I find them before the software reaches the end user. On top of that, I use my computer every day. The Linux Xubuntu operating system, the Ubuntu operating system, and the Vinux operating system have been installed on my computer. These are not something I like to install frequently. Since I must reinstall often when I use my hard drives for testing, I find it much less convenient than I would like. The perfect solution has been found! It is ideal for my testing to have both the 8MB and 16MB SanDisk Cruzer USB Flash Drives. These drives fit Linux if you use Linux as the operating system. This then allows me to test any program the developers request I test, using a clean installation. It is true that these USB drives come with a specified lifetime. However, that life is fairly lengthy. It is wonderful to be able to test as much as I can, without ever losing my own installed operating system or programs. A Flash Drive can be used in place of a hard drive, which is a great convenience. In addition to keeping the drives protected from physical damage, being able to close them effectively when removed from my computer helps keep them safe.

When I travel, I carry one of these Flash Drives with my email program installed on it. With this, I can log in to my email from any computer with internet access without installing anything on the borrowed machine. Also, all my information is stored on the Flash Drive, so I don't leave any traces behind.

I have used a few different USB Flash Drives in the past. There is no such thing as a "standard" drive. This SanDisk Cruzer has been very high quality to me. Besides lasting a very long time, they are also very durable and do not break. Due to the fact that these drives are never plugged into my computer full time, they are plugged in and removed almost every day. When they are not in use, they have a slide lock in place to protect the drive plug. you push a small tab down with your thumb. Once you let go of the slide, you can push it all the way and it will either open or close. It is a little thick, and you may not be able to fit it in the case if you have many devices plugged into the computer. In any case, I do not find this model significantly thicker than most of the other drives I have used. In my opinion, the SanDisk Cruzer USB Flash Drive is the best option for most users.

However, Microsoft Windows does not quite fit on these drives. Although Windows users can still use them in place of a hard drive, they may not be as fast as a real portable drive. To be able to install and test a program, as well as uninstall it, is extremely helpful.
