Questions & Answers
There is no WiFi connectivity available for this model. I honestly don't think that's the most useful feature for a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. A NAS benefits the most from a wired connection to your network, and you can benefit from much faster data transfer speeds that a wired connection allows. When it comes to management and maintenance, it should be treated the same way as a server. A mesh network hub is the best setup to help manage your WiFi network through your Synology NAS device. A mesh network is far more reliable than one governed by a router, especially one If your NAS is configured in this manner, it will always be accessible over the network as long as there is an Internet connection, even if your WiFi signal is intermittent. The Synology device I use is connected via Ethernet to my Google Fiber service. Whenever I've backed up (both data and disk image), I've seen consistently reliable results. Additionally, I run a Plex server on my Synology, which lets me stream movies and TV shows both in my house and out of it when I'm not there. Even with traditional magnetic drives installed, there have been no buffering issues during streaming. You can get faster data transfer speeds if you can afford SSDs. SSD drives are faster because of their faster read/write speeds. In order in order to boost data speeds, it is necessary to eliminate any bottlenecks in the pipeline. WiFi connectivity would be the biggest bottleneck compared to your hard drives' read/write speeds and your Internet connection speed. In the case of NAS devices and any other device that accesses the outside Internet, you would be handicapping your Internet connection by placing a slower, unreliable connection between it and your NAS device. That goes for all other devices that use your WiFi network to access the outside Internet. Even WiFi mesh is an improvement, but it cannot measure up to the advantages of a conventional wired setup.

I had some trouble setting up the unit but other than that it works well. It's not easy to get help from technology support.
