Tech Support is terrible
3/5

They only reply to eMails and it takes a long time to resolve issues. While it is really hard to like this NAS because of Asustor, I wish it could be. The first problem appeared when I first tried to access the NAS using my PC after setting up my credentials using the iPad app. Tech support had to reset my NAS remotely and they needed access to my computer. The technical support is located in Taiwan, with no phone number in the United States. problem was that I couldn't access my photos or videos on my NAS using the apps offered by the company. time, they needed to access my NAS remotely in order to fix the problem. After that, I noticed someone trying to hack into my NAS using SSH, so I disabled SSH altogether and blocked several countries as a result. Afterwards, everything ran well for a few months, until the last two updates to ADM, the operating system of the NAS. I became aware that my CPU was used up at 90% and my memory was over 60% despite not doing anything. Approximately 70 percent. As well as this, Backup Plan software has stopped working and displays the following error message There was an exception that could not be handled There has been an exception thrown by an invocation target. In order to prevent some data loss, I contact technical support. They remotely access my NAS and warn me not to restart or shut it down. It has been a week since nothing has happened. Two weeks go by, I check back again The program they are working on is said to be in development. Having gone 3 weeks without any memory upgrades, they tell me I need it. The problem with memory didn't exist before, so I ask why. As I back up my PC and occasionally access my pictures on my iPad, all I do is backup my PC. How do I find out how much memory I need? There is nothing. Despite the passing of another week, I submit a new The engineers told me that because I am a photographer and I have a lot of RAW images, it is taking time for them to be processed. I will not accept that as a The CPU of this NAS started running at 90% in November after I purchased it at the beginning of the summer. Thus, that is not the cause of the problem. This is happening, and despite all that has been done, they still do not have a solution for the Backup Plan software issue There was a problem unhandling the exception It is being reported that an exception has been thrown by the target. In the eMail responses, they have not mentioned this issue. Then I was unaware that they had installed a backdoor software on my NAS that made it easier for them to connect to my NAS using SSH, without telling me about that. In order to turn all of those off, I went into the computer room. Now that I understand why Norton flags the MyAsustor domain as having malware, I don't use that domain anymore.

I am also not understanding why my browser keeps telling me this NAS connection is dangerous and that I should no longer access that website.

If you are an IT expert, you should buy this NAS and secure it. If, however, you are an average citizen who wants to back up their PC and have remote access to files stored on their NAS, pick another one. It is preferable to find a software provider with a dedicated tech support number in the U. S. Since over 30 days, I've not been able to back up from my PC to my NAS hard drive. Asustor is not capable of doing something the software should. I will need to find a third party program that does what it should do. There is one thing I regret about.

This is an excellent value if you are looking for a media-related purchase A NAS capable of storing large files
4/5

As a result of my extensive research, I decided to buy the Asustor AS5304T NAS due to the flexibility and features it offers. Having an old HP Home Server in the house where we store all of our media for distribution around the house to different iOS and Windows devices was not cutting it. We decided to upgrade. In addition to handling even 4K to the OLED TV, the AS5305T does a great job as a backup device A convenient USB device for PCs and laptops.
*The following benefits are included Setting up the system is simple This device is packed with features and has lots of apps Both SSDs and HDDs can be used with this system, but you will lose a drive slot if you want SSD caching. I like the way it looks with the rest of the equipment. The two-speed Ethernet of the future, version The USB 3 port is 5 GB and the 5 GB card is. You'll need some x ports to do that. The RAM can be expanded to 8 GB For help with getting computer set up, there is a lot of online documentation (Asustor College) available online Setting up and customizing With the large fan, the room stays cool all day long. It is a good deal when it is The cons are Neither a chat nor a phone number exist for contacting support directly If there is a problem, you must submit a support ticket and wait for the vendor to respond (usually referring you to FAQs and online guides). I understand) US live support. It has a loud enclosure and all the plastic disk trays broadcast the noise from the drive. Just to keep this NAS from becoming too noisy, I have placed it on a foam base. Tips & Hints I installed the 1TB SSD in bay #1 first, then installed the software, apps, (and frequently used multimedia files) onto the SSD before installing any other HDD drives. This gave the fastest response from all of the various programs (PLEX and more). I did not have to discard a drive slot when I added an additional SSD caching drive to the NAS.

This is amazing
5/5

It's really amazing what this machine can do. With 3 @ 10TB and an SSD for caching, this is loaded up with 3TB of storage. Using Plex, I was able to transcode 4K to 1080p without any problems. Additionally, I purchased 16GB of DDR4 RAM, which worked flawlessly. Asustor, thanks for your help.

It constantly freezes with terrible applications, and it does not have NVME or mSATA cache
3/5

It is a beast when it comes to creating a storage space that allows multiple hard drives to be connected. Then my computer had a tendency to freeze and stop working. There are no parallel ports available on the board, so you must give up the SATA port in order to use a cache drive. Support said to use Docker instead of native apps since their native apps are not the most updated. What do you think? Third-party software, referred to as Portainer, is used to support Docker. Nevertheless, there is no manual that shows how to use the array via a container. Adding a container to Synology is nowhere near as easy as setting one up on your computer. This thing is capable of surpassing many NAS boxes well above its price if they are able to iron out the software issues.

There is no limit to the amount of memory that can be added A total of 4 X 8TB drives wrapped in RAID 10 is being used - using 2 x 8GB DIMMs As a media storage unit or as a system archive

Worked for me
5/5

As a replacement for an AS6104T, this was an upgrade. Aside from the AS5304T, there aren't many hardware specifications per dollar that can compete. It would be hard to find an issue with the program except for the lack of slots for Solid State Drives to increase In accordance with ASUSTOR's advertisements, I was not affected by switching drives from one unit to another because all my data and settings were carried over. The second option isn't useful since I'm not using it. However, there were no noticeable improvements to network file handling performance over the AS6104T even with its 5 Gbe capability. I expect the AS5304T to perform better than the AS6104T for the purpose of streaming or providing internet service. In general, it is a great product based on the early reviews. I will be interested in seeing the difference when I eventually switch to a router with 2, which will allow me to transfer files wirelessly and wired at the same time. A total of 5 Gbes. I have an update for you for April 4, 2020 This is the first time I implemented multi-user The AS5304T significantly improves large file performance on my network, which I had hoped would be the case, but as it turns out, it wasn't. This mode supports 5 gbe. The performance of small files is about the same, but that was to be There is no doubt that this NAS is very capable.

This is an excellent movie on The NAS is very well built
5/5

In addition, I don't need a DVD/bluray collection since I use it primarily as a movie database. All the formats I have ripped have streamed correctly through Plex players despite me ripping them in multiple formats. It didn't struggle when I played a lossless 4K file through it, but I would suggest upgrading the memory to 8GB.
