Questions & Answers

Is there any cloning software included? One is included in the pny ssd installation. So, can you tell me if it does?

The Kingston A400 series SSD does not come with drive cloning software or SATA cables, Vineet Chawla. It's designed for people who want to use their existing cloning software and hardware with the SSD. If you do need cloning software, Macrium's "Reflect" for Windows PCs or Carbon Copy for Mac computers might be worth looking into. Both programs can be downloaded for free from the internet. I have a Toshiba satellite with a serial ata-interface. The interface is 150. will it be SATA-compatible? How do three different interfaces work together?

Dave, hello, SATA 3. The A400 series SSDs are designed to work with legacy SATA interfaces. 0 (6Gb/s) Although the SA400S37/120G will work fine in the older Toshiba Satellite, it will not perform at the advertised SSD speeds due to host system limitations. However, the A400 will outperform the original hard disk drive to help improve the overall performance of the system. Using existing mounting hardware, the A400 should physically fit into the notebook's internal drive bay. When you turn on your computer, the new SSD will be detected automatically. Install the operating system and applications from the original installation CD on the SSD in the same way that you would on a traditional hard drive. Thank you very much!

Is this something that a mid-sized company could do? Is this a Macbook from 2009?

Linda,br>Apple has a number of MacBook mid-range models. In 2009, computers using legacy Serial-ATA interfaces were released. By today's standards, the ATA (SATA) data storage interface is used. SATA-compatible Kingston 3 The standard A400 SSD is backwards compatible with older technology and performs admirably in older MacBook models. Due to system hardware limitations, the computer will not be able to fully utilize the A400's increased performance. If you provide the exact MacBook model number or manufacturer part number, you might be able to find an SSD installation guide online. Thank you very much.

Is this compatible with the Toshiba Satellite 2 in 1 laptop? Who will be responsible for the data transfer and installation?

Hello Ae, Toshiba has a number of Satellite 2-generation satellites available. 1 laptop with multiple internal data storage devices and the ability to upgrade. To assist in determining system hardware configuration and recommended upgrades, please provide the exact Satellite model number or laptop manufacturer part number found on the system's underside. The Kingston A400 series SSD came with only the drive and no data migration software. It is the responsibility of the end user or a professional computer technician to obtain appropriate software for data transfer. Professional computer services, such as SSD installation and data transfer, can be arranged through Amazon. More information is available on Amazon under the heading "Get Professional Installation Service." Thank you very much!

Pay no attention to the negative feedback
5/5

After reading a review by a DGS employee who claimed to have spent 30 years in the tech industry, I assumed this was a real P. So, my Ex called me a few days ago to ask if I could look at her computer because she was having some problems with it. I said okay, because I'm a sap. The hard drive turned out to be defective. "Eureka!" I exclaimed as the bells rang and I remembered the review left by the Florida tech guy. I'd buy this SSD for her computer, and it'd blow up like a dumpster full of TNT in a matter of days. br>I get the SSD not on time, but a day ahead of schedule, and it installs quickly, and she comes to pick it up. I'm trying to keep my excitement in check as I await news of the impending evil. So after about a week, I'm worried and call the Ex to find out what's going on. Her "Boy Toy" responds and informs me of the bad news. It is not only still operational, but it is also extremely fast and effective. He then goes on to thank me and compliment me on "how mature" it was of me to do this for her, despite the fact that the divorce had been messy. And how good of a person I was for taking on the role of the bigger person and all that. br>To put it another way, if you're looking for a way to sabotage your ex's computer, this isn't it. However, if you're looking for a cheap, reliable SSD to boost your system's performance, this isn't it.

There was no need for a boot drive, and physical installation was simple
3/5

The computer recognized it after I opened the case and plugged it in. However, br>br> br>br>I purchased this to install Linux on my computer. I was finally able to install the system after several failed attempts. I've installed Linux on multiple drives and computers, but this is the first time I've had to struggle with it. As it turns out, this drive isn't set up to be a boot drive by default, which is why I had such a hard time installing it and why I don't get a bootup menu asking which operating system to boot (I have a 250 GB SSD running Windows 10). The only reason to buy an SSD of this size is to install only an operating system, and because it wasn't set up as a boot drive, it failed miserably at its ONE task. Yes, it's working for me. On a functional bootable drive, however, I get a menu asking which OS I want to boot. On this one, I'll need to boot into UEFI and select the drive to boot from from the boot menu. Following my experience with the 250 GB SSD I purchased, this is a huge disappointment.

Keep your distance from the Kingston A400 SSD 480GB! As a 30- This is the only SSD drive I've ever bought that worked perfectly when installed but failed completely after two weeks
3/5

While Kingston replaced the drive (unit was outside the Amazon 30-day return policy), I strongly advise you to spend a few extra dollars and buy a more reliable drive. I had to pay return shipping charges plus I now have another that I don't trust to use with a customer because it had a day limit but had been in my inventory for a few months before I used it) I had to pay return shipping charges plus I now have another that I don't trust to use with a customer because it had a day limit but was in my inventory a couple of months before I'm not sure why I purchased it. Sale price is very low.

It's absolutely wonderful
5/5

It is a very low-cost option that significantly improves performance. Although it isn't the fastest SSD on the market, it is excellent for what it is. It's very cheap, and it performs significantly better than a mechanical hard drive; Kingston recognizes that their products aren't top-of-the-line, and they price them accordingly; That is something I admire in them. I don't buy top-of-the-line components because I'm not interested in benchmarking them and getting excited about how fast they are. I'm only interested in real-world performance, and I'm not going to notice a few seconds' difference between SSDs. The distinction between HDD and SDD, on the other hand, phew! HUGE! I just want Windows to boot up quickly (I'm in Windows about 8 seconds after pressing the power button) and games to load quickly (Battlefield 1 maps load in about 10 seconds), and this drive is ideal for that. Also, because my motherboard only supports SATA 2, not 3, there was no point in getting the fastest drive available. REMEMBER THAT THE SCREENSHOT I POSTED IS FROM A SATA 2 CONNECTION, NOT A SATA 3 CONNECTION. Because SATA 3 is (theoretically) twice as fast as SATA 2, a SATA 3 board would provide a significant performance boost. On a sata 2 connection with a $45 drive, I'm still very pleased with the results; I'd buy it again, and most likely will.

The 240GB version is the ideal size for running your operating system (with plenty of room for additional software)
5/5

By no means is this the fastest SSD on the market. It is, however, inexpensive, and it is still a factor of ten faster than a hard disk drive. While benchmarks will clearly show the difference between this and top-tier SSDs, you'll be hard pressed to notice the difference in everyday use. The 240GB version is the ideal size for running your operating system (with plenty of room for all of the large temporary files Windows creates) and playing a few games, especially when combined with a hard drive for file storage. br>br>This is likely the single most cost-effective, effective, and significant upgrade you can make to your computer. If you have the funds, upgrade to a newer Samsung EVO drive with a larger capacity, but if you don't, this will suffice. The money was well spent.
