Questions & Answers

According to the P10's press release, it's a USB 3.0 device. It is Gen 1 capable, but the current listing does not state so. Is this something that can be verified?

The USB Forum is a minefield of confusion. Do you have everything you need? Okay: USB 3.0 br>br>USB 3.0 br>USB 3.0 br>USB 3.0 br>USB 3.0 br 0 stands for SuperSpeed, which would make it far too easy to tell which USB is which, so they don't use it. As a result, the number 3 is assigned to it. It used to be zero, but it's no longer the case. 0 and 3. 1 gen 1 are identical in every way, including speed (5 gbps). Then there's USB 3.0, which is the most recent version of USB. 1 gen 2. It's a genuine improvement over the original's speed, but PSYCH! It's time for another name change! Now 3. 1 is 3. 2nd generation, 1st generation, and 3rd generation There was a 2nd generation, and now there is a 3rd generation. 2 generations, 2 generations, 2 generations, 2 generations, 2 generations, 2 generations, 2 generations, It irritates me a lot! br>br>In any case, yes, this drive is USB 3.0. 0, or 3. One of the first generations, or one of the third generations. Whatever you want to call it, it's the second generation of the first generation.

Is there a USB cable included with it? a lot of marketing blah blah blah blah blah blah- blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah ?

A two-year warranty should be included. Cable is 3 feet long. (B-) cable, 0 set the type to A- type). I've yet to come across an external USB HDD or HDD enclosure that didn't come with a USB cable.

Is it possible to use this hard drive to back up my computer's photos, movies, excel, and word files?

This hard drive has been in my possession for four months and has exceeded my expectations. I'm a die-hard gamer who needs lightning-fast internet. While this hard drive was designed for gaming, it could also be used to store apps, photos, and documents. In fact, if that's all you're going to do with it, it'll be overkill, but it'll work better than the alternatives. Portable hard drives for gaming.

Shucking is a near-impossible task
5/5

The following is a summary of the plot: Because it lacks a SATA interface and has the USB control board soldered on, this drive is impossible to shuck. br>br>Details can be found in the images attached. It is simple to open the drive. Apply a 2mm hex screwdriver to each of the aluminum plate's four corners. Because the plate is held in place by four gentle adhesive strips, prying it up and off will be difficult. Remove the four plastic tabs that are holding the drive in place in the enclosure. You can easily lift the drive up and out of the enclosure at this point. Upon closer examination, I discovered a Western Digital drive with the model number "WD50NMZW. " The control board is soldered on to the USB interface. It's possible that the developer will re-write the code. Because there are solder points that match a SATA port to the left of the USB port, in the location where you'd expect to find a port, I used an old controller board design. br>br>In any case, I learned what I needed, put the drive back together, and now it serves me as an external USB drive. br>br>update, 25 October 2020: It is still in use and continues to perform admirably.

It appears to be in good condition. Compared to other 5TB external drives, this one is a tad better. The USB 3. 0 port was used for all of the tests. After 30 days, it is no longer viable
3/5

It doesn't matter to Amazon. This is complete and total garbage. The drive began to fail 30 days after it was purchased. I reformatted several times, and the results were the same each time. New devices were tried, but they did not work. I contacted Amazon customer service to get a replacement, and after about 3 hours of back and forth, the inept, unskilled tech support said they couldn't give me a refund or replacement. Trash in every way. Purchase is not recommended.

Loud
4/5

So far, it appears to be working well. The only criticism I have is that it is extremely loud. It makes a continuous humming noise that can be annoying. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: If you place it on a mousepad, the sound will be nearly silent.

Only a 4 out of 5 stars
3/5

It's a 5TB drive that works perfectly; simply plug in the one cable and your Xbox will prompt you to format the drive. br>br>My issues are as follows: Although the drive is labeled as "Black," the device's primary color is white; this isn't a deal breaker, but it is a minor annoyance. br>br>The other issue is that this is a 4TB drive, not a 5TB drive. I understand that due to system files, every drive on the box never has the capacity stated on the box. However, this drive had 500GB of space available when it was first installed. That's a lot of data for a drive I just put in without an operating system.

So far, I've had some excellent drives
5/5

So far, I've bought five 5TB models. I had one bad cable, but since I had a couple of extras, it didn't matter. The drives have been fantastic in and of themselves. Without any issues, I've written at least 2TB of data to each of them. I bought them because the largest external USB drive that didn't require an external power supply up to this point was only 2TB. It's now up to 5TB, and I'm in the process of replacing the older ones. I've had a lot of success with WD over the years.

Exceptional HDD with a Large Storage Capacity
5/5

For the price and the fact that it is a "5 tb hard drive," this is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a large amount of storage at a reasonable price! This HDD should be able to hold more than a hundred games, if not more than 200. The write speeds are also fantastic! Being a hard drive. . . br>br> It's best not to treat it roughly, moving parts and all. I haven't put it through any rigorous testing, but it appears to be capable of withstanding a few drops.

I paid $119 for this 5TB drive, and it's a fantastic drive
5/5

My passport costs $129 in regular form, whereas it costs $99 in regular form. First impression: br>br> In comparison to a 4TB mt passport from 2018, there is very little vibration and noise. I can't speak to trustworthiness, but I do have faith.
