If the game is one of the enhanced versions, the console will tell you that it needs to be installed on a 'high speed ssd,' otherwise you can install it on a regular hard drive, but you'll have to copy it over to play it. This was while playing ManHunter on the Xbox X series.
It connects to the series console's back panel. There are no cords required.
The Xbox 360 does not even have a USB 3.0 port. It only has two USB ports instead of zero.

About 9 months ago, I bought this 2TB external hard drive for my husband. It worked fine until yesterday, and it did help free up space on the internal drive so the Xbox could run smoothly, but now it doesn't work at all, so it's effectively useless. There was no power surge, damage, or water exposure to the drive that caused it to malfunction. The drive is completely ignored by Xbox. I plugged it into my computer to reformat it (and lose everything) so it would work, but the computer doesn't recognize it. I bought a new cable to rule that out, but it didn't work. I went to Seagate for help online, but it says it's unknown when I put in the serial number and product number. According to online reviews, this occurs to a large number of people for no apparent reason after a certain period of time. This device is far too costly to have to replace every six months. on an annual basis I'm very disappointed in this purchase and would strongly advise people to look for an external drive made by a company that will provide support instead. If this issue is resolved, I'll update my rating to 5 stars because it worked fine before it randomly bit the dust.
Seagate will not honor the warranty if you purchase this product. When I went to register a product that I purchased on March 25, 2018, it said it was out of warranty, despite the fact that the box stated a two-year warranty. Seagate was contacted, and after providing purchase documentation, the warranty was updated to be valid until March 26, 2018. They issued me with a one-day warranty. If you don't want to be disappointed, you should stay away.
For $118 and change, I thought I was getting a great deal. I set it up and ensured that it was properly maintained. It's out in the open, so it won't overheat like it would if it were kept in a cabinet. It isn't close to any Xbox fans, and it isn't near anything that could cause it to overheat and cause damage. It crashed after a few days, and everything I had installed on it was lost. I contacted Amazon, who promptly sent me a replacement and instructed me to return the defective one. This is the only reason I gave it two out of five stars rather than one. br>br>I'm writing this on August 22nd, almost exactly three months after I purchased the device, and it just died on me a month ago. My Xbox, various friends' Xboxes, and my computer do not recognize it. I replaced the USB with a brand new one in the hopes that it was just a bad one, but that didn't help. Overall, the money spent and the headaches associated with it were not worth the trouble.
It worked fine for about a month before corrupting the files of every game I had installed. The games would start up, then freeze, and when I exited and restarted them, they would hang at the title screen, with an error message indicating that the game data had been corrupted. The disk could not be reformatted. After that, installing the games directly onto the Xbox hard drive worked flawlessly, indicating that the Xbox is not the problem. Because warranty returns require the original packaging (serial numbers, etc. ), I'm out $90.
I figured I'd mention in the title that this is a review of the 1TB memory storage expansion (ie: "memory card") designed specifically for the Xbox X and S consoles. Amazon appears to mash up reviews for different drives into the same category, which I don't think is very fair. Why do I have to read reviews for ten different products if I'm looking for a review for this one? br>br>Anyway, it's obvious that this is expensive. Is a 1TB hard drive worth more than $200? Sure, it appears to be a lot for what it is at first glance. However, when you dig a little deeper, you'll find that it's actually quite affordable for the type of NVMe drive it is. It's lightning fast and communicates directly with the Xbox X/S hardware in a way that regular hard drives can't. Only the internal storage or this expansion card can be used to play X/S enhanced games; no external USB hard drive of any type or speed can be used. br>br>The device is of high quality, as you can tell the moment you take it out of the box. It also fits comfortably into the Xbox expansion port. And, most importantly, it performs admirably. It took me about 10 minutes to transfer 400GB of games to it. I didn't keep track of how long it took me. Maybe 15 or 20 minutes at most. br>br>It's a high-end device with a high price tag, and I understand that most people won't be able to afford it. But, for those who can, the extra 1TB of REALLY fast storage will be a huge plus!.
I was only employed for two months. The Xbox is no longer turning on. The hard drive has failed. On it, there were 269 games. I'm very upset. Other reviews should have been added to the list.
In the past, before I bought this eight terabyte usb hub, my storage got full and I had to uninstall and reinstall games in order to use them, which was incredibly annoying.
We've had it for six months and it's been working perfectly until the last few weeks. It simply stopped working, and we were left with nothing. It says it doesn't recognize me, and I've asked around but no one knows how or if it can be fixed.
