Questions & Answers

What are my options for an external hard drive for extra storage? Can I use any other external hard drive?

The Xbox 1/1s & 2 Can Xbox X use a External Hard Drive
Xbox series X (2020) can use eternal HD for storage only for games that say (XS) on the box! In this new Xbox series XS (2020) next generation, the Hard Drive is $219. Users who play Next Gen games that belatedly say "XS enhanced", will need it.

When loading a game, are you prompted to choose whether the Xbox uses the internal drive or an external drive? It will find it automatically or not?

On one of the enhanced versions, it (the console) says the game needs to be installed on a 'high speed SSD', but on a normal hard drive, you'll have to copy it. The video was taken while playing ManHunter on the Xbox X series.

Can it be connected to a wall outlet?

The back of the series console is where it is plugged in. You don't have to use

I use this on my 360 and my X1 at the same time?

It is not even possible to connect a USB keyboard to an Xbox 360. USB 2.0 is the only port, and it does not have any other ports.

WORKING STOPPED OUT OF THE BLUE
3/5

9 months ago I bought an external hard drive for my husband with 2TB of storage. In fact, it did work until yesterday, and it did help free up space on the internal hard drive, so the Xbox actually ran smoothly, but since then it has not worked, and it's a waste of space. There was no power surge, damage or exposure to water that caused this problem (i. e. no power surge, water exposure). A drive that does not even appear on Xbox is not recognized. Connected it to the computer to reformat it (and lose everything) in order to get it working, but the computer refuses to recognize it. I went shopping for a new cable to rule that out, and it didn't work. I went online to Seagate for support, but for some reason it states that the serial number and product number are unknown when I enter them. Several reviews online point out that this always happens to a lot of people after some time. We'd have to replace this device almost every 6 months if it were that expensive. This is a very disappointing purchase and I would recommend people search elsewhere to find an external drive- at the very least a drive manufactured by a company that will provide support. If this issue is fixed, I will update my rating to 5 stars, as before it randomly crashed it was perfectly functional.

Do not purchase Seagate because the company does not honor their warranties
3/5

There is no warranty on this product, so do not buy it. Purchased the product on 3/25/18; went to register it and the product is out of warranty, despite the box stating it is covered for two years. We provided documentation of the purchase to Seagate and they upgraded the warranty to remain valid through March 26, 2018. This is what they gave me: a one-day warranty. You will be disappointed if you stay away.

You don't have to waste your money
3/5

My Xbox One went out of service on May 24th, and I took the chance and bought the 4TB version. I don't regret it. Getting $118 and some change on that website seemed like a great deal to me. The setup was done by me, and I made sure to look after it properly. There is no need for a cabinet as it is in the open where it will not overheat. Neither is it near any Xbox fans, and it's not on top of anything that could cause damage to it if it gets too hot. I lost all that I had installed on it after it crashed a few days later. The company sent me a replacement item immediately after I contacted them, and I had to return the faulty item. It has been almost exactly 3 months since I bought the device, but that is the only reason for me to give it 2/5 instead of 1/5. I am typing this as of August 22nd, which is a month after it died on me. My Xbox, the Xboxes of several friends, and my computer fail to detect it. My new USB didn't help either, so I have traded it in for a brand new one in the hope that it was just a bad USB. Ultimately, I did not believe it was worth the money spent as well as the headaches it caused.

Original packaging should not be thrown away
3/5

It worked fine for a couple of months, when the files of every game installed on it began getting corrupt. It would start, freeze, and then when I exited out and restarted it would hang at the title screen with an error message that indicated the game data had been corrupted. It did not work to reformat the drive. I was able to install the games directly onto the hard drive of the Xbox afterwards, so it seems the Xbox is not at fault. I am unable to return the item without the original packaging (serial numbers, etc. ), so my $90 gone.

Bad drives should not be bought
3/5

Junk should never be bought. It took me only two months to work there. I now cannot turn on my Xbox. The drive does not work. This computer was loaded with 269 games. Angry. The review should have been listed with.

Worked for 6 months and then stopped
5/5

We have had it for six months now and it worked perfectly until a couple weeks ago. There was just an outage and then everything went down. Whenever I try to connect it says that it doesn't recognize. No one seems to know how to fix it or if it can be fixed.

Detailed review of the Xbox Series S & X 1TB Storage Expansion
3/5

It would be helpful to include in the headline that this particular review pertains to the 1TB memory storage expansion (i. e. "Memory card") for the Xbox series X and S consoles. As I see it, Amazon puts all drive reviews together into the same category, which does not seem right to me. In the event that I'm looking at a product review, why do I have to read about ten other products? Anyway, this is a pricey product, and we all know that. Is 200 dollars too much for a 1TB drive? It may seem overwhelming at first glance for what it is, but it's actually not that much. In reality, however, this drive is actually relatively inexpensive for what it is - a type of NVMe drive. The external hard drive communicates directly with the Xbox X/S hardware and is so fast that external hard drives aren't able to. Playing games with X/S enhancements can only be done on the expansion card or the internal storage, not through an external external hard drive of any type or speed.

The device is quality and you can tell the moment you take it out of the box. A satisfying click can also be heard when the extension plug connects to the Xbox expansion port. The best part is that it works really well. In just a few minutes, I moved around 400GB of games from the old hard drive. It did not take me time to finish. . . Probably 15 to 20 minutes at most.

I realize most people cannot afford it because it's a premium device at a premium price. Those who may be able to benefit from the additional 1TB of REALLY fast storage will certainly have a great deal to look forward to!.

Ok, this is a game changer
5/5

This 8 terabyte usb hub saved my social life. Before I purchased this hub, my storage was always full and I had to continually uninstall and reinstall games to enjoy them, which was awful. When I had to tell my friends "I don't have it installed" or "I have to install it" when playing games that we really enjoyed, I felt horrible. Every time my friends played a game I had but I had to uninstall it to install another game we played, I used to be embarrassed. As a result, I decided to splash some cash on this bad boy, and I have to say, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. My opinion on this hub is that it's fantastic. The 8 Terabytes of storage capacity is just incredible, and there are two extra USB ports that I find myself using an unbelievable amount, so it's a well-worth buy.
