Questions & Answers

Is there a spare ram slot on the Ryzen variant?

The board has a 4GB RAM chip embedded in it, as well as ONE (1) user-accessible memory slot. RAM slot that can be installed. This laptop can hold a total of 20GB of RAM (if you install a 16GB chip in the ONE slot).

Is there a way to increase the RAM? It is, according to some reviews, but it is not, according to others. ?

It is possible to upgrade the RAM. However, it is divided into two 4GB slots, one of which is upgradeable and the other of which is not, so you can only upgrade one slot.

Can this game be played on a laptop?

Although this model is not recommended for high-end gaming, it can be used to play games with low-end settings.

This item appeared to be an excellent value. br>(Ryzen 5 3500U, 8GB model)br>br>SUMMARY (ONLY 1 RAM SLOT)br>br>DEEMED: (2400mhz RAM only runs @800mhz off the charger AT ALL TIMES)br>br> First and foremost, DECEIVINGbr>br> br>THE RAMbr>br>Advertised at 2400mhz: br>THE RAMbr>br> with deceptive descriptions, customer reviews, and responses First and foremost, you should be aware that There are two possible motherboard configurations if you contact ASUS: One configuration has 4GB of soldered RAM and a 4GB SODIMM, while the other has NO onboard RAM and one 8GB SODIMM. I purchased an additional RAM stick in the hopes of increasing my memory to 12 GB, only to discover that I already had the MB configuration that no one was talking about. br>As you can imagine, I'm about to add this sweet 8GB stick to my collection: The upgrade is unnecessary because there is already a single 8GB stick in the slot. br>br>Then I decided to put in a CPU-intensive program. To find out what the hold-up is, use the letter Z. up was. When the laptop wasn't connected to the charger, I noticed it was a little slower than I expected for the specs, and let's face it, the only reason anyone buys a laptop is to use it in portable situations, so full performance away from the plug is expected. Regardless, after you've installed CPU-Z, you'll need to restart your Z There were a few things about the RAM that I didn't like. To begin with, it ran at a native 1866mhz when plugged in UNTIL you do something that necessitates a bit more effort, at which point the RAM ramps up to the advertised 2400mhz. Second, with the power cord unplugged, I discovered that the RAM was running at an APPALLING 800mhz. It was an expected feature, not a defect, according to an ASUS spokesperson. br>To make matters worse: I am familiar with the operation of RAM modules. Because a single SODIMM draws such a small amount of power, revving it down to a mid-range speed is equivalent to revving it up to the speed of a mid-range processor. Tier DDR2 module isn't good enough! Just another factory implementation of a throttling method designed to make bargain PC buyers regret their good decision. br>br>And to make matters WORSE: A Ryzen 5 processor is included in this model. *What's the problem here? * Here's what's wrong with that: Ryzen processors are designed to be reliant on onboard memory. MEANING: CPU performance suffers as a result of slower RAM. br>So, with RAM that runs at 1/3 the advertised speed (2400mhz is just fine for RAM in the first place), a single RAM slot with no dual channel option, and a CPU that will perform slower as a result, this PC performs in the $150-$200 range. When you're not near a charging station, you can spend up to $200. BUY SOMETHING ELSE FROM ANOTHER BRANDbr>br>The one advantage= The nice screen- proportions of the body.

Feels like I'm on a Macbook
3/5

To be honest, I love my laptop! I purchased a 1x8GB kit of ddr4 sodimm 2400mhz cl16 ram to replace the laptop's original 8GB of memory, and I quickly discovered that the laptop comes with 4GB of RAM soldered to the motherboard, so you can only replace the other stick of RAM in the populated RAM slot that already has a 4GB stick in it. So now my f512d ryzen model has 12GB of RAM. In addition, the SSD that came with my model was a Kingston 256GB SSD, which left one slot open for a 2. SSD or HDD with a 5 inch Sata connector. The battery has a 2-hour life span. 3 hours on a near-permanent basis full charge, and I need at least a 1 in my college classes. I could dim the display and possibly the keyboard backlights to save battery life, but I'd say it's a win in either case. Overall, the screen is IPS and beautiful, the system is quick and responsive, and I can run 3D applications on it without it crashing like my previous Samsung i3 laptop from 2013. I'm a big fan of AMD's new product line, and I hope this information is useful to anyone else considering purchasing this laptop. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> br>Unfortunately, my unit was short-lived. I've only recently started using my three-year-old three-year-old three d softwares and new code IDE's for C, as well as this blue-colored thing- Every 5 minutes or so, the screen is refreshed. I'd get lucky and it'd work fine once in a while, but today the drive slowed to a crawl and died as Windows attempted to repair or reset it. With no storage or boot-up options, I now boot into the bios every time. The ssd has been detected. What an opportune moment for it to pass away. Also, turning off the keyboard backlighting gave me a whopping 9 hours of battery life. It's a pity that life has come to an end. The information about the upgrade was incorrect
3/5

For the money, this is a good computer. However, when I emailed ASUS to inquire about the maximum ram upgrade and whether there was a slot for an additional hard drive, I was told that it could be upgraded to 12GB and that there was a slot for an additional 4GB. If I wanted a bigger hard drive, I'd have to replace the one I have now. There is no slot for adding RAM, but there is a space for an additional hard drive, as you can see in the photos, and even looking up the specs online gives you inaccurate information. I had it sent to the Philippines and will not be paying to return it. It's a good computer for the money, but ASUS couldn't even provide accurate upgrade information. Something tells me that it can probably be upgraded to 16, but that the current RAM will have to be replaced.
