Update: Two out of three laptops are no longer working! BUYING THIS PRODUCT IS A MISTAKE! It was a waste of money! br>br>For my kids' schooling, I bought three identical laptops. Two of the laptops are perfect for our purposes. The third one worked for a few months before turning off and displaying nothing but black. When I took it to a repair shop, they told me it was missing RAM and other components. They expressed surprise that it had even turned on. Because the laptop has been used for more than 30 days, I am unable to return it. It's especially aggravating because I paid nearly $1200 for them all.
For virtual school, this is a good basic laptop. The battery lasts a long time and is extremely light. All of the USB ports, as well as the webcam and trackpad, are functional. br>br>Because this is a basic laptop, storage is limited. No usb- c ports. There's no optical drive, and there's no slot for a memory card. br>br>It's fine for browsing the web and creating documents in Word and PowerPoint. br>br>When the laptop first starts up, it is in "S mode," which I was unfamiliar with but apparently is a locked down version of Windows that prevents you from downloading non-Microsoft programs (such as Google Chrome) unless you download an app called "turn off S mode" from the Microsoft store. It's free and not particularly difficult; you can figure it out by watching a two-minute YouTube video. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase; my son uses it for virtual school, and his screen is larger than that of his peers who use Chromebooks.
I've always preferred Macs, but I'm no longer able to afford one. I needed the cheapest laptop I could find so that I could do online banking without having to use my phone (I prefer a physical keyboard). I'd never used Windows before, so that took some getting used to, but overall, the setup was simple, and I can now communicate with friends who send me Windows files more easily. The only drawback is that the disk space is extremely limited because I purchased the cheapest version. I had no idea how much space Windows Office would take up on my hard drive. A larger hard drive is something I would strongly recommend.
This computer is ideal for our requirements. Word processing, social media, email, and video games are the most common activities we engage in. Our previous computer's screen (which cost twice as much) was much smaller and difficult to see. It's light and fast, and we're very happy with our decision.
This laptop was purchased for my child to use for his or her online distance learning schoolwork. It charges quickly, is light, and includes all of the features I require. It's a plus that my 8-year-old daughter can use it independently.
So far, everything has gone well.
I should have spent more money on this one because it's useless for streaming video, which was the main purpose.
Great laptop, a significant upgrade from my previous Acer Aspire, which had the black screen of death after three years. It performs admirably and has ample internal storage. br>br>10 months later, you suddenly get the black screen of death. I tried a factory reset, the f keys with the power turned on, and HDMI. Nothing. Given that this didn't even last a year, I guess the old Acer was more durable after all.
