Questions & Answers

This would work with the new 3070 cards, right? Connecting them to a 12 pin socket is necessary. Would I be able to do two of the 6pin connectors without using their two ?

On my connector, it is possible to split apart as you describe. Ensure that the power supply is powerful enough, as most newer graphics cards require quite a bit of power.

Can you let me know whether this is rated as continuous or peak wattage?

There is a load rating of Typical.
Power supplies do not output at their peak power output all the time (assuming that's what you mean by that)
They output whatever you connect to them. It is guaranteed to output 750W of power if the components you are using total 450W combined. If the components combined wattage is over 750W, this power supply is only guaranteed to output 450W. You might be able to output more, but you will likely burn out your power supply and perhaps a few other parts in your computer, as well. I have searched high and low for where you get the 80 percent efficiency, but I would guess your typical load is 50 to 60 percent. Approximately 60% of the 450 Watts

When I power on and off this power supply, it makes a clicking sound like a relay. Is this normal?

I would get a new one because mine is very quiet and does not make any clicking noises.

A short occurred in my hard drives as a result of this
3/5

Initially, the computer wouldn't post after installing the power supply. After removing everything except the ram, the CPU, and boot drive, the computer was able to post, however, the motherboard wasn't able to My other two HDDs have been added and it no longer posts. I went back to the single HDD it had mentioned, but a HDD has yet to be found. In any case, I added my GPU at this point, and it did not post. I then swapped back in my old power supply, and everything was fine. I then tried a storage drive and saw black smoke coming from the SATA power connection on the drive. After swapping my boot drive back in, I have determined that the problem has actually been happening to it all along. I like it. I am happy to report that my HDDs are unharmed, but I am still pissed off. It is not clear why QC passed this. Several possibilities would have resulted in the loss of all my data, a faulty motherboard, or a faulty There can be no tolerance for such behavior. In the case that you must buy this supply, make sure that you test it with hardware that you do not care Edit

Although my computer did begin to work again once I connected my old power supply, it was only a one-time thing. It was my understanding that I had not lost anything by writing this review. My motherboard appears to be having issues (it can only detect one out of I have lost access to my boot SSD. My two HDD's work just fine, however the SSD is definitely gone. I replaced my boot SSD and motherboard and found that my two HDD's are still functioning fine. This power supply is one that I would strongly recommend you to stay away from.

Did you also contract a virus from the tester? In my Alienware Aurora r5, I was planning on upgrading from one GTX 1070 and a 460w power supply to this power supply, which I wanted to use for a GTX 1070 SLI setup
3/5

I was able to test it very easily. The test showed the software In the end, I managed to put all the cables in my compact case without too much trouble, but it was still a challenge. The first time I turned the computer on it did not work, but the second time I turned it on it worked, but there was no display, so I checked HDMI cables to make sure they were secure, and they were, so I tried plugging everything in and pulling it out again, same result. I tried to put each gpu in the vga slot in turn, however, nothing seemed to work even when I swapped out the gpus on each slot, and even tried the different vga cables that came with the power supply, but it didn't work. In an attempt to upgrade my graphics card, I went back to an older model that was perhaps 2010- or earlier I had no issues running 2011 however a GTX 1070 could not run even when the power was on. The EVGA tech support center told me I had a bad rail that won't deliver enough power. I asked what the point of the testing kit would be if that problem weren't noticed, if the cards had received power, it could have caused my PC to melt down. My purchase was returned, and I ordered a gq 750 in its place. There better not be any defects in it. It was a very bad experience.

There is no tech support for this company until you have a problem
3/5

Wait till you have a problem and get in touch with their support. There is a desire to see you The product itself must be replaced instead of simply being replaced. Rude Rude and Rude It also requires testing beyond what is usually done by the average customer. One day, when I was using my motherboard and power supply from EVGA, the unit would not turn on, it would not do anything. A 5vsb light was the only thing present, and it flashed. Lots of testing has been done. On the forum, we read that the power supply was bad, so we decided to replace it. Now that we have done this, the unit works properly. We told this idiot that the unit now works after we replaced the power supply, but their tech support refused to give us an RMA ticket. The result usually indicates that the manufacturer is not interested in honoring the You should take this into consideration when you are considering purchasing EVGA products.

This product definitely lives up to its outstanding Excellent power supply, very happy with it
5/5

My high-quality camera is a product of my efforts It was time to make a high-end rig and I was on the lookout for a safe, reliable power supply. You can find a lot of lists on the internet that cover the best power supplies, and the G2/G3 line is at the top of the range for value. My reasons for choosing this over the G2 are a couple of them. I like it even though it's newer and a little bit better, plus it's smaller, so it fits better in In the new version, there is a different setting for eco mode, and the switch for it sits on the exterior instead of the inside. The cables are also different, and they make a lot more sense. PCIE cables are included in this package, as are high-performance GPU cables in the form of 6+2/6+2. The motherboard has two separate processor cables, instead of one with a splitter (which is great if you don't have more than one processor). In addition, it comes with an accessory to test that the power supply is working properly. It is a good idea to turn off eco mode before running the test as the fan will not spin, which could make you think it is dead when it isn't. Having a 10 year warranty on it, I expect that I'll be using this power supply for many, many years to come. I am very pleased with this power supply.

Once again, EVGA has outdone itself! Great seller to deal with
5/5

EVGA has been my preferred PC manufacturer from the first PC I had. This power supply performs This is run on an old FX8350, where I live there have been quite a few power outages lately, and I almost always have the PC running. This PSU has still not provided anything to report. Its fan is super quiet, and it has been hard to believe it has one until It is nice that in this one, all of the cable sleeves are in a black jacket. Those are the words I'm using. It feels good just to open the box of this thing.

Q Why do I highly recommend this product? It's because this is the second power supply I have bought in 9 years. I have not experienced problems with the first one. I'm simply upgrading my PC. It now powers my wife's PC, where I had previously installed an EVGA G2. There are likely to be no problems with this PSU It is the seller that is responsible for the transaction. It seems to have been a normal shipping process. Our stuff doesn't get shipped out until all of our stuff is waiting for shipping. However, the shipping delivery occurred much earlier than The CD is in a secure box, with plastic bubbles to keep it from getting damaged during **I am the type of customer who prefers to purchase directly from Amazon and does not use third Still, I think this is one of the sellers I ought to add to my small list. Have to make a few more purchases from them to see if the trend.
