Questions & Answers
No, but according to what I've read, adding a second 140mm fan only reduces the temperature by 2-degrees. As a result, you've increased noise and cost for the second fan for only a marginal benefit.
For the second fan, there are only clips. You'll need to get a Y-Adapter. If you want, you can watch television via cable.
The case has less of an impact than your RAM. Low-profile RAM is fine, but if your dimms are particularly tall, this could be a problem. To be certain, take some measurements.
It should... I have it in an AMD 5950 X, which is comparable, and it maintains temperatures below 70 degrees. With a full load, 80 tops are possible.
Selected User Reviews For Noctua NH-D15S chromax.Black, Premium Dual-Tower CPU Cooler with NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fan (Black)
To be honest, it's a little early to write this review, but it's Noctua, and we all know they make some of the best air cooling solutions on the market. Because of its size, it looks premium, professional, and commands everyone's attention; even the packaging was A. br>br>I'm running at 35C right now after installing, which is a 4C drop from the Scythe Mugen 5 on a 3800x with two fans. Both coolers were made with Kryonaut. I'll have to experiment with it more to see how the temperatures differ when loaded and when gaming. In a few weeks, I'll rewrite this review. br>br>This cooler is ideal for mid-tower rigs, such as mine, where larger coolers, such as the D15, are simply too large. With 4x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, ram clearance was not an issue. It did, however, obstruct the GPU's 120mm radiator. I was fortunate enough to be able to mount it, though not in the case's intended screw holes. Before you buy, do yourself a favor and double-check that it will fit. The installation is straightforward, though some rigs may have fitment issues. It's easier and less likely to scratch or bump into other components if the mobo is removed before installing this cooler, but it's not required. br>br>Edit 12/30/20: br>br> In comparison to the Scythe Mugen 5, I've noticed a 4C drop in average while gaming and overall. One thing that surprised me was the requirement for the D15S cooler's fan (or any other additional fan) to be in a push configuration. The fans will make a soft, but audible humming/vibration noise in a pull configuration. For those who are curious, the A12 thin 120mm will fit in front of the cooler and not get in the way of the ram/cooler/case.
Water coolers were supposed to be the best CPU coolers, I was told. What a blunder I made. For three years, I used a H115i water cooler and thought it was the best until the pump failed. I went on the lookout for a new cooler after that. I'm a 7-year-old girl with a lot of energy. 6700K has been overclocked to 4 GHz. 6GHz. Here are the results of the coolers I tested with Prime95 and an ambient temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit: br>water is a substance that can be used to make a variety of products. H115i - 85°C water - 280EX Castle - air at 78°Cbr> The third installment of the Assassin series. air at 72Cbr>72Cbr>72Cbr>72Cbr>72Cb NHD- 15S - 69Cbr>br>The H115i performed admirably for three years, but my CPU became much hotter, and the pump failed. The Castle 280EX is a nice cooler that runs cooler than the H115i, but the fans are extremely loud when they are running at full speed. The Assassin III is a good air cooler, but the one I received has a loud fan whine at all speeds. Finally, I made my way to Noctua NHD- 15S and was astounded by the cooler's cooling capacity and quietness. The all-black chromax color scheme is attractive and complements the RGB fan lighting in my NZXT case. If you're thinking of the Noctua NH-, you've come to the right place. Simply purchase the D15S. You're not going to be let down.
Is it appropriate for a tall ram? Yes. My Corsair vengeance rgb pro fits perfectly. Despite the fact that this ram isn't the tallest, there's still plenty of space. Is it okay if I put a second 140mm fan above the ram? No way, it's going to get any higher than the middle fan. With a second fan protruding from the side panel, it won't close. If you have room in your case and don't mind the second fan protruding, go ahead and do it. You can probably add a second fan if you have a low-profile ram with no RGB or fancy heatsink. Is it compatible with a GPU on a riser? Yes! My Asus Strix 3070 is a good match. Between the fins and the gpu, there's about 1 or 2mm left. The ASUS Strix 30 series is a monster card; it's the same card as in the 3080 and 3090 strix lines, and I'm glad that DH-X has one. With this GPU and phanteks case, the 215S was able to blend in. br>br>As well as a lovely black color!.
I rarely write Amazon reviews, but I was so pleased with this cooler that I felt compelled to do so. br>br>This thing lowered the temperature of my i7 - 10700F from the stock cooler that Cyberpower cheaply installed on their prebuilt, which was running at nearly 63C at idle to around 34-35C at full load. At idle, it's 40°C, and even after an hour of playing Doom Eternal, the temperature hasn't risen above 50°C. br>br>Full disclosure: I'm a dummy when it comes to mainboard hardware, so I had this installed by Data Doctors in Phoenix. I was way out of my comfort zone trying to install this cooler myself because of its monstrous size. Oh, and this cooler is a lot quieter than the stock cooler. So far, it's been well worth the money! Because this cooler is essentially a chrome black obelisk, it's difficult to get a good picture through my case window:.
I'm using it with a Ryzen 5950x and the three stock case fans in a Fractal Define 7 case. In Prime95 testing, the CPU is running at 65c with the fan at 25%. P95 tests can cause temperatures to rise to the mid-80s. For 20-somethings, the 1980s are a great time to be alive. They go up for 30 seconds, but never higher, before coming back down. I ran P95 for 24 hours and got the same results. CPU at 100% and processor speed 4 are reported by Task Manager. 5ghz. I haven't tried pushing it to 5GHz yet, but I don't think the temperatures will change much. br>br>Ironically, this cooler performs better when the fan speed is reduced. It has to do with the air turbulence produced by higher fan speeds, right? I've attached the fan speed profile that I used to get the above results (screen capture is P95). This came from a Gigabyte motherboard. I keep the fan at minimum (10%) until the temperatures approach 65, then increase it to 100% at 80. This was more effective than using the mobo's built-in fan profiles or manually increasing the fan speed at lower temperatures. br>br>I have the fan set to turn off below 50 degrees Fahrenheit in normal use, and it stays off if I'm just surfing the web or doing other low-impact activities. br>br>It's less expensive and quieter than a water cooler, and I expect it to perform just as well.
Great CPU cooler, simple to set up, keeps my Ryzen 5600x at 35 degrees Celsius while idle and is completely silent while I work. Unfortunately, I had an issue with the shipment; in addition to taxes, DHL charged me all kinds of extras; however, Noctua took it upon themselves to refund the extra charges, so I'm very pleased with their customer service. br>br>I also purchased the same line of case fans and they arrived without any problems; if everything goes well, I'll continue to order Noctua in the future.
