Questions & Answers

To watch the third Atsc of the game of thrones, is all I want. Is this suitable for that use? An ATSC 3 station will be installed in the local area. ?

ATSC 3 compatibility will be provided by the HDHomeRun Flex 4K. There is no direct connection to your TV, but you can hook it up to a computer. At this point, OTA ATSC 3 has been implemented. A home network has no programming available for the devices connected to it. If you wish to watch the shows from devices on your network, such as smart TVs, smartphones, or streaming devices such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick, you'll need an app such as HDHomeRun or Plex.

There are several differences between this Flex model and the HDHR5-based ?

This version of the Connect 4K has an optional USB connection, allowing you to optionally connect a hard drive. You can use it in the same way as a Connect 4K without a hard drive attached.

Content that is streamed is encoded with what codec?

There are many devices that support HEVC (the same codec as 4K discs). The same goes for Dolby AC-HD. There are virtually no apps outside of HDHomerun that support the HDHomerun 4 platform. Only a few newer TV models and a few receivers can tolerate Currently, HDHomeRun app supports only four smart TVs. *BR>On the plus side, many of the latest models support this

Selected User Reviews For SiliconDust HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV: 2/4 Tuners HDFX-4K

Time and money are both wasted on this! In my opinion, the Flex 4K is only worth purchasing if you do not have a HDHomeRun tuner already
3/5

Please do not upgrade to this model just ATSC 3 is the only ATSC I can get sound from. I cannot hear anything from ATSC 3 using VLC on my computer with 0 channels. There are no channels available on my phone, LG smart TV, or Fire TV when I use the HDHomeRun app. As long as the older ATSC 1 is used, it works. The network should be fine if you aren't upgrading any stations. I would like to mention that the Flex 4k is not responsible for this issue. There is no CODEC for the device that you will view the content on because it is just on the cutting edge of technology. I could not reach tech support via phone as well. The only way I could stop this is to submit a ticket. I hate it.

It does what it says, but there are some refinements to be made
4/5

Obviously, I don't want to make it sound like this thing is a terrible thing, because that's not the case, it is just a very unusual piece of 'AV' electronics that has very little information available and has some strong and I have a Jane Vizio 436-E. The tuner does not seem to be that sensitive and I have a A better tuner is on the G1 in my office.
Joining both good and bad aspects of the side scroll channel guide will render it. There will be some who will love it, and there will be some who will There's no doubt that it's refreshing to see channel guides that are different. To expand sections on the left or scroll down to accommodate programs currently airing or soon to air, you can expand each on the left or scroll down to accommodate programs currently airing An additional option is to use the Discover option to browse upcoming programs, but for some reason the channel on which they are broadcast is not indicated (this is probably to eliminate duplicate programming, but it is also an oddity that has good as well as Despite the design, the app doesn't have many options or flexibility. It seems like it was designed to be idiot-proof. In order to change channels, it takes anywhere from 2 to 4 seconds for the system to switch. The channel scan depending on your setup, that is what you can control. If not, you are restricted to the channel menu There is only one way to do a channel scan, and that is to do a complete Add channels, search for individual channels or anything else like that is not available. The website my offers a few signals on the web. The HDHomerun application. Here is a display of the channel signal format information, a signal strength meter, and a signal strength meter. It is not possible to access this kind of information within You can't even see the device info on the web page when you open it you have to scroll up to the top. When you open the web page, the web signal strength meter is instantaneous, not real time. In this case, there In this setup, there is an exe file that you can download (the downloads option at the top of the webpage) that displays a signal meter in real time on your computer. It is The exe and setup files can be found here. There are other tuner information you can access in exe. It is imperative that you are able to access both the Web and the in order to get the most detailed information about signal reception. Files with . exe extensions. I have been experiencing hard crashes and no response from the remote when the app for my android TV is running. The problem is that exiting and starting it again doesn't help, even turning off the TV and unplugging the HDHomerun box itself didn't work either. As it turns out, the easiest way to fix it is to go to Settings (for the TV), open Apps and force stop the HDHomerun app, then launch it again. Also, it will show the channel ID for the channels it receives, but not guide data for the channels it does not receive. If you have repeaters in your area, you may be subject to this problem since it is an outright software flaw that needs to be corrected. Please note that ATSC 3 is a digital format. There are no negative stations, so this problem doesn't exist, since they have a prefix number that sets them apart from their ATSC 1 counterparts. It does not have any Note
(Note As of now I found there is an odd quirk in the software that if you do a channel scan from the Android App (or maybe another), the channel that does not show appears on the list of channels during the scan but is then replaced with the channel that does show once it has finished. It is odd, but sometimes, after starting a scan and then canceling it, the channel that wasn't visible before will show up in the list and you can watch it, but it usually doesn't stay in the list for more than a week, sometimes just a few Although the channel that was showing is now not listed, one can force the channel to be displayed with the backdoor. ) But there is no DVR capability without purchasing the Silicon Dust channel guide. So even though the recording feature appears to be present, it is unusable. Despite the fact that the Pause function is completely free, I find the fast-forward and rewind buttons to be hard to use. A jump may take about 30 seconds to complete after you press the button (about 3 to 5 seconds). There is often a problem with the progress bar when fast forward and reverse are being used. You need to practice to use the system It is best to buy a yearly subscription to be able to use fast forward and rewind on recorded shows (assuming that you have subscribed). Records are just like channel guides, which can be interesting and frustrating depending on how they are used. If you choose to record from a specific channel, you will not be able to do so As well, there are two options to record seasons, either the current one or the entire list. In the HDHomerun app for Windows (and probably Apple and Linux too), the audio cannot be controlled via Windows' sound slider, and the audio slider on the Windows app does not change the volume (except for muting the audio at 0 volume) . If a physical volume control is available on the device producing audio, use it. You can also view ATSC 3 by clicking here. HEVC is a 99 cent extension that has to be downloaded on Windows to view 0 content. In the device specifications, it states it draws 1 amp at 12 volts (12 watts), but it does not get very hot, while the router does get quite warm. AV enthusiasts would not want or expect it to have the kinds of flexibility and options I expect from tuner, but it is a neat and quirky (and sometimes frustrating) design nonetheless. It would be great if it had There are some aspects of the user interface that are clunky, but there are also some that are useful and efficient. However, it may be a little different than what you are used to, so don't give it too much credit.

Despite the fact that only a few stations are currently broadcasting in 4K, many have upgraded their transmitters to support it
5/5

As it turns out, there are 3 stations to choose from The picture quality with this tuner is much better than the spectacular picture I was getting with my Aspects such as color, resolution, and graphics There is a difference in the audio. It doesn't matter if you wait or not Today we have a better picture and tomorrow we'll have a much better one, because 4K broadcasts are coming. Thank you for your support,.

There is constant buffering in Live TV on Plex
3/5

I've had no problems using HDHomeRun app and streaming content. While the app is funny, the user interface is horribly awful. A number 4862 It is running on . NET Framework 5. 3, on a Synology DS220+, on In case of 0), all HD channels buffer continuously. There are zero SD channels (it seems to be an antenna issue), so I moved the tuner and antenna to the other side of the house. The HDHomerun App, however, appears to be working just fine, so I would expect it to be a

There seems to be many people online who are also experiencing this problem. On my own, I don't know how to or if I can solve the problem. Seeing as HDHomeRun is such a bad app, I'm just going to I am disappointed. This is especially true when you consider its price.

When used with the right software, it is excellent
4/5

To use for ATSC 3, please refer to ATSC The Silicon Dust Microsoft scan tool software must be used to scan with a computer first, which you can download on their website. If you don't, you will only be able to pick up When you do this, you can use the HD-ready feature on your TV On your TV, you can install the Homerun app. Your home internet connection must have a lot of bandwidth in order to work properly.

always, I have no complaints about SiliconDust products
5/5

I have had several of their products and have never had any issues. The USB drive option is an excellent addition to the product. As a result, I have not used the 4K option yet since it is not available in my area. However, I hope to do so.

Setup was easy and the picture quality was excellent
5/5

It only took me 20 minutes for this to be installed on my network. Using an external hard drive to store my DVR recordings took me longer than I expected to get Channels DVR running on a 2012 Mac Mini. During the transition to ATSC 3, my area will adopt ATSC I am hopeful that we will get signals that are better than 1080i from the major networks later this year. HDHomeRun is pulling in great recordings using an AppleTV 4K, and We are only going to do 1) for the moment. I am very pleased with the product, and the SiliconDust forums that I reviewed before purchase made clear there is a community that is actively involved if issues occur. On any recording, I have not had a problem accessing the audio.

With Plex Live TV and DVR on a ReadyNAS, it works well
5/5

My favorite feature of Plex is its ease of use. It worked like a charm after being connected to the network. TV that's broadcast off the air in high quality. You need a Plex Pass to access the content.
