Questions & Answers

Can you tell me what this thing does? The concept doesn't make any sense to me. ?

Plug over the TV tuner to the computer, and you can watch TV online. In America, it will not receive TV programming as it is meant for European standards. However, someone figured out how to set it up in a way that simply dumps the binary information it receives into a file. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can use it now with some free software as a digital radio receiver. A suitable antenna will need to be applied to this, but its range is around 24MHz to 1GHz. A 75GHz frequency. Click here for RTL Click on SDR dot COM to see a list of software and where it can be downloaded. Since it decodes in software, it can receive AM, FM and SSB in both narrowband and wideband. *br>This particular one has a good 0 dB signal to noise ratio. An oscillator with 5ppm replacing the rather poor one that comes in most others. Despite their superiority, these receivers are not as good as full-frame ones At only $25 dollars, you can get a full-blown shortwave radio! In fact, you can download software you can use to use it to display virtual radar on your computer and receive airplane location signals. It is the antenna that is the most important part of any radio. This antenna can cover a wide range of frequencies. In addition, I would advise you to get a USB extension cable to move the USB away from your computer. Computers are a major source of electrical noise. When I had my USB connected directly to my laptop, the RFI from the computer was so pronounced that I could not hear. In addition to receiving the weather radio channels, HAM radio channels, and shortwave radio stations, I can pick up 6ft of radio antennas.

Does anyone have an explanation for the double price difference between the mini 2+ and the mini 2, given that they both use the updated r820T2 Moreover, how many pages does the mini 2 display per minute?

There is an enormous difference between these two dimensions, which can prove to be crucial in some cases. We are available to answer any further questions and are grateful for your cooperation

If not, what are the reasons as to why this will not receive ads b and digital tv? Is that okay?

An affirmative vote on ADS is required Surely we should have digital television if it was DVB-C In your area, you can buy T. For those living in North America, digital TV is not an option since ATSC transmissions are used there. It requires a lot more bandwidth than this device is able to supply to receive one channel. I hope this is helpful!

Are digital TV channels picked up by this receiver?

No, it does not work in the United States. It is capable of receiving DVB-T There are signals from TV, but in the USA they are not used. An ATSC tuner connected to a USB port would be most appropriate. Please accept our sincere thanks for your interest.

It's a great deal for the price
5/5

The first time, I didn't know for sure if I'd be able to utilize it. A mixed bag of reviews came in. Even more so since I'm not running this on a Windows machine. This is an older (but still 64bit) Samsung laptop that I blew away the Windows partition from and installed Linux Mint on. I don't know whether it would work in Mint, but for $24, it wouldn't have been a total waste (and I was figuring I might buy another Windows PC. If you're lucky). I'm going to tell you the I spent a good deal of time searching and experimenting on the Internet. In order to work properly, I had to blacklist the driver that it uses typically for this and install a different one manually. Moreover, you have the choice of picking from a variety of software packages. There is a second version of Gqux. When I had the driver and software installed, I had to fiddle with the settings until I found the correct combination of settings. It had to do with Realtek's RTL2838UHIDIR device in the drop down to start the car (after installing, plugging in, and Linux recognizing it). I'm not a specialist or anything but I just did it. As you can see, I am just wasting time listening to the police, fire, air force, and ham bands while The scanner is not the same as a scanner. This may be a comment on the software rather than a comment on the software itself. In addition, this is an excellent piece of This app will let you bookmark frequencies that you are interested in so you can come back to them later. But, from what I can tell, you don't have the option to scan pre-bookmarked frequencies. there is one thing it is good for Affliction is to concentrate on watching the waterfall for a few seconds, and then moving up or down between slices to find new frequencies and channels. Broadcasts usually leave quite noticeable lines in the waterfall (as well as peaks in the cross section). The functionality is already quite impressive for a mere 25 dollars, and I have yet to even play around with all the settings. As far as the hardware is concerned, it seems to be It has been running all day without getting warmer than my fingers. I found the antenna mount to be the only downside to the package. I tried squeezing the suction part onto many surfaces, but it never stayed put for very long, and even when it did stay in place, the metal disk would pop out of the rubber form. I was able to mount it to the metal frame of that window air conditioner using the magnet in the antenna bottom, without needing to use the attachment. In any case, if I wanted to listen more seriously, I should get a better antenna. I think it's going to be a small external and some small coax (it generates some with the As mentioned by another reviewer, it might be useful to use a USB extension, but I haven't face any interference issues with it directly connected to the laptop (although some of the constant signals are, no doubt, caused by the laptop's.

Oh my gosh, that's such a cool gadget
5/5

I still got a very good signal with the tiny antenna even though the receiver is awesome. It is possible for my Acurite 5n1 sensor to be positioned anywhere on my I'm also having trouble with my other radio tuners picking up police scanners, FM radio channels, and police scanner channels. After playing with the device and the GQRX application for my Mac almost all night long, I'm hooked! Homebrew or macports can be used to obtain the application. rtl_433 also comes in handy for receiving weather broadcasts, troubleshooting tire pressure monitoring systems in your car (TPMS), all sorts of keyless entry systems, RF remote controls, etc. An entirely wealth of guides and how-to's are available online. There are a lot of great things on the The receiver will be my permanent replacement for my ailing Acurite smartHub bridge - and I plan to buy a second one for my geeky pleasure as well!.

A great SDR dongle that can be used for a number of purposes
5/5

This RTL-audio was a great buy for me This SDR dongle will be used for an RPi project to track Airplane Flights (RTL_TCP/PlanePlotter). If you don't have any higher gain antennas, this will work great (if you have any high gain antennas). I was able to track planes at 45,000 feet. At least 30 planes have been captured over the course of the night. a large airport and am situated right in the middle of the United States. It was an added bonus to find that I was able to use an Acer R11 Chromebook web application called "Radio Receiver". In addition to listening to local FM broadcasts, I can use this webapp to do a number of other things. The app can be set to "FT" Free Tune, and when a dongle is attached, you can tune into your local repeater across the popular 2m and 70cm bands. (Now, I make a homebrew 1/4 wave antenna instead of using my original Monitors are fantastic for just that purpose! In the end, I might end up buying another dongle for my CARpi when it's built.

For the price, it's great
5/5

I haven't been able to use it since my Windows computer died and I haven't yet replaced it. I was aware before I bought that I would need an upconverter to receive HF frequencies, so my purchase was an easy one. My old chromebook (that has a few issues) is getting good reception on the FM band and the weather band. I might like it even more when I am able to use the more advanced software. The service is excellent and I would happily recommend it. It worked great once everything was up and running. That was just what I needed to get started with SDR and to have a look at how I liked it. I plan to get more equipment, including an upconverter, in the future. In general, I would recommend it to anyone who is just getting started.

The toy is fun
3/5

You could use it as a toy for playing with SDR to determine if you like it or not, but it isn't sensitive enough to pick up weaker signals unless they are very close to your antenna. In addition to being able to pick up local radio stations, the antenna ships with it can also pick up There were at least a dozen FM stations that I managed to pick up, as well as a few other transmissions that I was unable to fully understand. Considering the price, I agree with the review that it was fun enough to keep me up late several nights searching for frequencies and listening intently to the airwaves. You definitely shouldn't miss out on getting one if you're curious.
