Questions & Answers

Can you tell me about the type of connection you need? Do you know what cable it comes with? The USB port Are we talking about C ?

One type C to C cable and one type A to C cable are included.

Is it possible to leave this device unplugged from power for an extended amount of time without losing data?

If you run out of power, your SSD will not lose any data. In addition to the SSD using NAND Flash as the storage medium, it is effectively protected from data loss when the SSD is not powered for a long time. Therefore, data loss can still be avoided even if the SSD is not powered for a long time.

The Steam store has a lot of games that I download. Is it possible for me to keep my games in this system?

There's no reason for not doing it. There's nothing special about it. You could certainly download your games from it and play them on your computer. The stream from the device may not be fast enough to play directly from it, but you could certainly play them on your computer.

Do you know if this will work on the PS5 to upload games? From the community, there are a lot of claims that external drives are incompatible with PS5. ?

The PS5 requires additional USB storage in addition to the internal storage. The Sony brand. I note *br It is recommended to use USB 5 Gbps or higher. A minimum size of 250 GB, and a maximum size of 8 TB is required. I note *br It is not guaranteed that all devices will work with the PS5. I note *br A USB hub cannot be used to connect the drive. I note *br It is not possible to use more than one USB extended storage drive at once. You can connect multiple USB drives to your console, but you can only use one. *br> *br>The following SuperSpeed USB connections are supported on PS5. These consoles are The USB 3.0 SuperSpeed 5 Gbps port (USB 3.0) is super fast and highly reliable. The USB 3.0 interface is not compatible with USB The 1 Gen1/USB 3 protocol. The USB 3 standard (USB 3.1 Gen1) enables superspeed transfer of data down to 10 Gbps (USB 3.0 Gen1). Gen2 and USB 3 both come with 1 port. The second USB 3 Gen2 is also known as Gen2. The 1x2 Gen1 USB ports will be upgraded to the new 30 Gbps USB 2.0 (USB 3.0) in 2018. There has been an update to the PS5 which allows the PS5 to play PS4 games directly from an external drive. We recommend using an SSD to speed up loading times for PS5 games. The PS5 can only store game files from an external drive, not play them. Transfer rates seem to be capped on this drive, so it may not be necessary. If you don't want to wait for Sony to unlock the internal M, get the WD T5. A total of 2 NVME expansion slots are available.

It can't be recommended
3/5

According to the hard drive, the performance is satisfactory. A large file transfer does cause the device to get warm. It is unfortunately not one I recommend. It was my intention to register it with WD but they claim that the Serial Number is incorrect even after sending the photo of the hard drive and the box with the SN displayed on it.

SSD copy file structure and "Real" space available should be considered carefully
3/5

When I backed up the files on my computer, I realized that the *250 GB of files on my computer is actually worth &dollar400. The SSD had a size of 550 GB once it had been backed up As a result of my discussion with WD, I found that SSDs are designed more for fast playback of large files (music, gaming, etc. ) than for storing of common The following note is important With the SSD, it is impossible to change the setting. As a result, I could only copy 430 GB onto a 1 TB SSD with this It is recommended to stay with hard drives. One WD HDD was not enough for me, so I bought another!.

There was an error in the serial number of the product
3/5

Hear what the reviews have to say! It was as if I should have listened to the other reviews about other people not being able to register their products. I tried to register two of these Western Digital SSDs, and both of them Customer support at WD requested the receipt, serial number, and part number, as well as pictures of the damaged parts. So, I contacted customer support and supplied all the information they requested. It had been a week since I had heard from WD, so I contacted their As of now, they are looking into my form that I had already submitted. I'm here 15 days after the serial numbers were submitted, and WD still hasn't validated them. My warranty on these products will lapse and I will not be able to get support for them if I cannot register These books are being returned to them now. A period of 2 weeks is an unreasonable amount of time for them to verify if the products are real.

The Mac BIG SUR version does not work! This is a piece of garbage that costs a fortune
3/5

This drive must be used with a MAC, however you will have to download an app from a third party and pay $50 for In any other case, you will not be able to read/write to your hard drive. This is scandalous! As a result, I'm WDL should not sell this piece of junk, since it is quite expensive. When WD intends for this product to be used with Big Sur OS, then it needs to update and provide the WD Utilities software and not tell customers to pay for it from a third party.

I was expecting it to be larger

With USB3, you will get one of the fastest write speeds on the market if not the fastest. It is possible for my car to store my entire music library on this SSD.

The results are unreliable A corrupted file will affect your data
3/5

There is a problem with this drive. Western Digital hard drives have been my main drive for many years without any issues, but it seems that they jumped on the SSD bandwagon too quickly without doing sufficient product development or quality

My data began to be corrupted from the first day I used it. A CHKDSK run and low-level diagnostics do not reveal any bad sectors, and the drive itself runs smoothly A level format has no effect on the drive. Based on the observed symptoms (corrupted blocks in images files, weird color mismatches in PDFs, etc. ), I suspect that there are just a lot of The drive doesn't mark them as bad since they are writable, so it keeps reusing them instead of marking them as bad. That's not a good thing if you want to protect your data. In contrast to some people, I did not experience a total loss of data since I had caught the problem on the second day, and my backup was in good hands elsewhere. It is not that I couldn't have, but that I am concerned about. SSDs are not a novel concept - SSD storage has been around for years - and companies have been able to build reliable SSD solutions for many Over the past four years I've had a computer with a SSD primary drive that worked fine. It's a good thing that Considering a well-known company like Western Digital cannot figure it out in 2021, it strikes me as somewhat.

I am speechless! My jaw dropped when I saw this! I am very impressed and satisfied with your work
5/5

The last time I needed an external hard drive was a while ago. The most recent one I had was a 750GB USB 3. 0 that I used to have. It's been excellent over the years, but it's not so good if I have to use the USB adapter that I have connected to my MacBook Pro (which has a USB and eSATA connectors). I had trouble transferring large video files (C) and files as large as 25 gigabytes. In order to do this, I started searching for a USB-equipped My Passport SSD from WD is a fast and portable USB-C drive compatible with all of your mobile devices. I am thrilled I found it! In my hand, it's about the thickness of four credit cards, and it's small enough to fit in my palm. In addition, it's lightning fast. It transferred a 5 GB file in less than three seconds and a 13 GB mov file in less than a minute. It has never happened before for me to see such fast file transfers. I consider the value of this little device to be amazing for the price. WD, you did a great job! Excellent purchase! I am very pleased with it.

External SSD with fast performance and a small size
5/5

Having just received this yesterday, it seems to be a good product. My initial impression of the device was that it was quite small, but it's great! It does seem to get a little warm during heavy writing- As I don't have any experience with other drives of this style, I have no comparison. I would not describe it as hot to the touch, but it's warm. I like the design and how it looks sitting next to my Mac Mini on my desk. You can use the provided USB stick Cable is way too short. You can use this as a personal drive if you take it with you, but for a portable drive it's boring. In my case, it is attached to my Mac Mini so I can use it to access Somewhere along the line, I'll likely need to purchase a longer cable. quality, so I would expect nothing less from the drive. Time will tell if this drive lives up to my expectations. In the event that anything goes wrong, I will update this review. As of now, everything is going well!.
