It seems to be a fast drive! I agree, however
3/5

I have owned a Samsung T5 for quite some time and have owned a couple of other SSDs too.
Am happy to see that Samsung has introduced a USB 3. 0 port. SSDs are much faster, as there should be two of them. IMPORTANT NOTE The T7 Drives must be connected to a USB port in order for you to maximize their capabilities Get the newest generation of the 2Gen2 on your laptop and PC! A USB cable is not required The T5 will perform pretty much the same as this card, which has two Gen 2 ports. As of today, I have tested on my 2019 Surface Laptop 3 with an USB-C port It is supported by Gen 2 and I was able to achieve full speed with it and copy files to it as well. I've never seen anything like this before! It seems very fast! That's not true! The speed and performance began to diminish as the size of the file increased. The performance reduces as the file size grows from 1GB to 2GB or even higher. It is not noticeable if the file size is smaller than 1GB, but the larger the file gets, the less responsive it is. Additionally, the T7 has been tested on a 2014 Macbook Pro fitted with a USB 3 port. As a result of the speed test, it can be compared to The bottom line is that the T7 is super-fast when it comes to transferring smaller files! The performance/speed of the computer will decrease as the file size gets larger, especially large files over 1GB. Due to the amount of video editing I do, and since files are often large, I can encounter this issue. Upgrade to the newer T7 drives is on my list of things to do. We will have to wait until the speed is improved, and the stability is improved. Below is my test and experience using my new MS Surface Laptop 3 13" where I have an USB-C port The crystal disk mark test for 1 GB (see the attached photo for test details)

If you own a Samsung T5, don't buy a Samsung T7 SSD stick
3/5

It is recommended that you do not purchase The experience I had with the SSD was similar to many others'. Specifically, SSDs cause computers to overheat. As well as getting extremely hot, the SSD gets extremely cold! In this case the issue does not relate to I/O or computations. As soon as the SSD is connected to the computer, the issue occurs. It is interesting to note that the Samsung T5 is not affected by these issues. Taking an overclocked T5, I would guess the T7 is nothing more than it. I suspect Samsung is engaging in shady business practices if my suspicions are correct. Avoid the T7 if you can for the sake of your hardware as it will destroy it.

The drive is very fast, and I am experiencing a lot of problems with it
3/5

However, it still lives up to the speed claims. The problem is. Even when the drive is idle, it runs very hot. There is a Samsung T5 2TB SSD sitting right next to it, and even when I hit it hard, the Samsung drive never gets warm (temp is currently (87-29C)). The T7 is idle at a temperature of 100 degrees F, while the T7 is at a temperature of 100 degrees F. It is not unusual to have the temperature of the T7 spike very hard at times and the drive unmount by Once I unplug it, let it cool, and then plug it back in, I am forced to unplug it, let it cool, After a period of normal operation, it will get hotter and hotter until it stops. The drive has fancy thermal management which I have read about, but I just don't think I can use It's probably a bad idea for you to do it too. To receive the T5, click here. Although half the speed, it's still fast -- and even more importantly, it won't burn itself out.

I find that beyond awful
3/5

My experience with this thing cost me a whole week of my life. If you are thinking of getting it instead of the T5, Continuing on from the review below, this SSD overheats excessively, causes the CPU usage to spiral out of control, and constantly disconnects for no apparent During the call with Samsung support, the guy had no idea what to do to fix the problem. I ordered a replacement on Amazon, spent another day with the replacement and encountered the same problem. **My Ravpower SSD and T5 work flawlessly with no problems or slow downs, and the CPU usage is normal.

The process is slow and finicky
3/5

This is supposed to be faster than the T5 I own, so I thought I would give it a go. Therefore, I ordered the 2TB drive that doesn't have a CD drive An example of a red fingerprint model. The first thing I noticed was that this drive took a long time to boot. Windows 10 usually detects the drive in about 30 seconds, and sometime disconnects the drive after that. It also takes close to 30 seconds from when the drive detects the plug to when it can be used. I am not able to hit 700 MB/s read even though I tested on multiple systems and cables. But what really sets it apart is that it cannot deliver the 1,000 MB/s read or write capability. The level of writing appears to have increased, but by only a small amount. As part of the testing I used Crystal Disk Mark to diagnose the hard drive and also copied It consistently performs at a rate of 600 MB/s for reads using the old T5 which is rated at 540 MB/s, and at the same rate for writes using Given the price, physical size, performance, and other issues of the T5, I will continue to use it. Both of them have 2TB of storage and there is no reason to pay more for a bulkier drive if it does not give you a noticeable speed improvement.

It did not perform as described on the Samsung T7
3/5

Since I work with audio, some of these virtual instruments take up a lot of space and they are fast to read. To cover that, I have four Samsung T5's. Video is the next area I'm going to work on and I need a dedicated drive. These new T7's are supposed to replace T5's, and the T5's seem to be being discontinued. A month later, I decided to give it a try and was very disappointed in There are a few T5 devices that can transfer data at 400MB/s or more. In the T7, the maximum speed was only 30 to 40MB/s, and it was very hot. There is a serious issue with Samsung that I hope is fixed. Meanwhile, I guess I will try to make due with the drives I have until I find a more viable.

The Blazing Upgrade for the iMac 2017
5/5

As a result, it can read and write at a speed of 1,000 Mb/s, while I can only do 20 Mb/s with my Apple iMac hard drive. This corresponds to 40 megabits per second. As you can see, it boots at blazing speed now that the apple OEM has been replaced through a Thunderbolt port. I used a rubber band to attach to the bottom of the iMac metal frame support to disperse The start-up time and the loading time are quick. I am using an old Mac, since I haven't got a new one for a few years. The extra $ is well worth it if you want read/write speeds of 540 Mb or higher than the Samsung T5. The warranty period is 3 years.
