Questions & Answers

The device automatically switches to Windows 10 if it has not done so already?

In this device, the switch does not automatically turn on. To turn it on and off, we need to push a button. The software is no longer used. Money wasted on a waste of time and effort

Normally, when switching manually, I do not have any problems, but when I set the software to "auto switch," the printing automatically leaves the printer. Does anyone know why this is happening?

As far as I know, I haven't had any problems. Make sure to switch to the other side/printer manually first before you request a print.

Are you sure it will work with Windows ?

This is the case, in my opinion. It's brand new, in its shrink wrap package. This is the first package I've ever opened. After they updated to Windows 10, my colleagues were able to use this type of device just fine.

Selected User Reviews For IOGEAR 2-Port USB 2.0 Automatic Printer Switch, GUB231 Black

According to IOGEAR, it is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 10
3/5

In the manufacturer's opinion, this switch is not compatible with Windows 10 nor is it intended for machines with MF capabilities. The program was used to have a PC and a laptop connected to an HP 8620. I was able to print from both machines it switched between them automatically for printing, but when I scanned from a PC using HP Printer Assistant, the scanning option was not available. I don't see the option to scan. I use Print & Copy when I want to With the HP Scan Doctor app and through the HP web app, you can both scan from. I was never able to make the scan function work on the PC, even though it works on the laptop. A GUB211 is known to be WIN 10 compatible and IOGear recommended it. This is on order at the time of writing, so we will see how that goes.

WINDOWS 10 WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS PROGRAM
3/5

How simple could it be to switch your printers? I doubt anyone could have messed it up without a lot of skill. It was not easy, but Pressing a button can be used to change from one computer to another, which can be performed manually. The problem is that this If the button is pressed, the light indicating which computer it is connected to doesn't change. This features is unique to the button. When I read the manual and used the software to install it, it told me there would be an automatic switch. The only problem is that one little thing keeps happening. XP and Vista are the operating systems for the program. The installation went smoothly, and it initially appeared to be working. Despite my best efforts, it didn't work out. Changing the state can be done either on a network computer or computer that has an applications bar by clicking on the icon and selecting from the list. The printer I thought I had set up were supposed to switch from one computer to the other whenever one had a print job, so I thought I was good to go to bed. As I woke up the next morning, I was disappointed to discover both computers did not have the control program installed. When I manually started it, I received the familiar question, "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?"? The start-up process would have to be halted while I wait for an answer to the question about moving the program to the startup folder. In that case, I uninstalled the program and threw the hardware out. I won't bother returning it because it won't be worth Buy this item at your own risk. Junk like this is a waste of time and money.

I have to say, buying a device like this on Amazon and getting sucked into the marketing lies and reading about how it is going to help make your life easier and then finding out after the purchase that it is nothing more than junk is ridiculous
3/5

We're getting sick of being marketed with hyped up rhetorical claims that are just there to make a buck or two. What's the matter, Amazon, why do you have a difficult time tracking sales? - Yes, it is true The negative reviews I saw It had a few good reviews sprinkled in there (probably from the seller or his close friends), but since there is no better alternative on the market, I thought I may as well assume that all the negative reviews were based on ignorance or misguided opinions. This is wrong! After spending hours trying to get this thing to work right, I gave up after spending hours trying to figure it out. It works fine when you switch manually, but not automatically, even when you set it to automatically switch As soon as you set the printer to switch automatically, it will do so, but before it prints it will delete the current It's all a load of rubbish! I'm sure the problem with this is the fact that it was developed and manufactured around 2008 for use with older printer models and for Windows Vista. The support team informs me that it won't work with most multifunction printers due to the monitoring software built into them. If this thing is still on the market, then why is it still available? There appears to be fraud going on here, and Amazon, Iogear, AND this seller should be ashamed of themselves.

This tool does what it is advertised to do BE SURE TO READ THE It was concerning to see the reviews, but I am not worried about them- Not at all
5/5

It prints flawlessly for me if a bit sluggish on two Windows 10 machines that I shared an HP LaserJet Pro M402n with. When it is switched to the printing computer, it takes a few seconds longer than normal, and there is an approximately 5 second delay when switching back. since there is some lag, which is reasonable for this type of device.

It is NOT plug-and-play. You are playing. It requires the installation of a piece of software and a change in It is very easy to do and is outlined clearly in the quick start guide. The multifunction machine will not be tested by me.

Changing from one application to another does not work automatically
3/5

A switch to allow the use of two computers to one printer is a great idea. A switch that allows for both a and b operation. Despite the fact that the software advertises itself as automatic, it really does not work that way. This will require you to push a manual switch to identify which computer or laptop you are using at that time.
I spent several hours with their tech support and was bounced around so much that I think I got a tattoo on my a** that said As I was told there is nothing else they can do because it is a "computer issue," I called Dell and they remotely took control of my computer and performed every diagnostic possible. In the end, they verified my system works 100% as expected. The problem is definitely a hardware issue, but in the case of IOGEAR it is the hardware. In case we need to clarify The task was tested on four different laptop computers as well as one desktop computer. In my home, I do have a couple of systems that serve my family's Not one was able to automatically switch itself on and off when manually changing the switch.

As of today, 9/28/2018 I have used it flawlessly for my business and I am very pleased with it
5/5

I received it today and have used it flawlessly. I would like to thank the IOGEAR team for their efforts. The service allows me to seamlessly switch between my iMac 2018 and Windows PC running Windows 7 Home Premium so that I can manually switch between my HP Laserjet Pro 400 model M401dne printers. My powered USB HUB for my PC is connected to Port 1 of this switch, while my iMac is connected to Port 2. It is not possible to install the automatic switching software on the Mac as it lacks a CD drive, but personally I do not want Changing this manually will be no problem, as long as you have two computers to work with. All you need to do is press the button, wait a few seconds, and you are good to go. Please accept my sincerest thanks for your assistance.
