Questions & Answers

Switching between computers can be accomplished using a keyboard key or hot key?

The button switch is all that's needed. In order to get back to the same computer you must click through the cycle of 4 clicks even if there are only 2 or 3 active computers. Even after all these years, the switch still appeals to me, and I use it constantly.

Are there any Linux drivers?

This mouse and keyboard don't require drivers, so it works on any computer that can recognize USB devices.

Only about one out of 100 switches fail, and without restarting the system I am switching to, I cannot function with my mouse or keyboard. What can be done to fix this?

Thanks for getting in touch with Rosewill, valued customer. Our apologies go out to you for any inconvenience caused by this. I would appreciate it if you could try the following 1
Switch off both computers so that they are not being used*2. 2. Disconnect the KVM cable from the computers, as well as all cables connected to it. You have 30 seconds to wait. 5. *br> The KVM must be connected to the computers along with all of its cables. Connect both computers to the same power source. your device*br>If this does not resolve the issue, get in touch with us directly to request further help. I, Rosewill Support Service, sincerely thank you for your support

Would you recommend this for keyboard and mouse only? Can't use this for With a HD television as a monitor and an additional HDMI input on the TV, I run an application. Are you telling me that you just need key/mouse ?

It was found that this 2 Port HDMI KVM Switch HD Resolution Support Windows 2000/XP/Vista Linux and Mac would be a better option rather than needing to switch the TV inputs.

In the first place, this does not come with a micro USB cable
3/5

Firstly, the port is a placebo, which means it does not power the device. Secondly, if you are reading this, you have landed on an accurate review, so thank you for choosing us. If you look at some of the other reviews, you'll see they are all for completely different products regardless of the ratings. The real headline It takes a lot of courage to open up you can't fool me with your looks

Rosewill In spite of this handsomely shelled device's good looks and features, it fails to live up to the mark on so many of the important criteria. Unlike powered USB hubs, it does not have any power. There is no doubt that it is It does not read 3 and will not read 0. We have none of any kind of device. This appears to be an extremely advanced hub with an on-hand side button, but it is really just an old product that was re-released Most of the ports have shells and expanded usb connections, but they are not powered as power distribution is lacking. Amazon does not offer this as a legitimate product, and they will revert to this once they are exposed Replacing the shell of their product with a new one You can release it again under a different name with some On top of that, it also has all the flaws you would expect from Chinese technology This does not kick on the computer (you have to click twice on the switcher for it to work)
I ripped the cord after one month of use because the cord is very thin, very easily ripped off (mine ripped after one month of use). This is very clunky, but light (it won't hold a position, so if you have fallen for their trap already you might want to think about using it as a paperweight). Sometimes the device won't power up if there are too many devices plugged in- Devices connected to the computer via the switcher will not be recognized- It will not power up a USB hub (even if it is the only device connected)* If it is the only device connected to the switcher. There are frequent disconnects and reconnects that can occur between peripheral devices (consistent disconnects and reconnects). They think their product is decent enough that it can get away with all of the flaws, but it does not even come close to being You are wasting your time with this usb switcher, so you should invest your money in one of the other sh***y ones that are $15. The result is that you are spending a lot of money for a bulky two-port USB switcher with a button that, if you lose, will become useless, and you will not be able to get The tech support is as slow and effortless as you would expect from a Chinese brand. The situation is easy to imagine, as I am sure you can.

I love the overall picture, but the button is a weak link
4/5

The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars was how much I wanted to. It lost 2 stars because of the darn button, but recovered one because of the price. I am very satisfied with the overall performance. There are no artifacts or blurs in the image, the switching is fast, and the overall functionality is not affected. ". This price is too good to be true. am in love with Compared with the old beige switches, it's a major improvement. My Linux machine has a snag, though. It appears to be perceived as a display with a resolution of 1024x768. It was a minor xrandr tweak that fixed the problem. Windows 10 is up and running right out of the box without any issues. The button is a very weak link in this chain. Essentially, it is a typical cheap micro momentary button, mounted in a very cheap plastic housing and connected to a very cheap box with very cheap wire. This really is a shame when such a poor button appears on a piece of equipment that would otherwise be great. Attempt to use it for less than one day brought the system to a halt. I found that the wire had come loose from the button, which is why it came apart when it was so cheap. I was able to fix it in less than a minute with a Obviously it is not too big of a deal, but not everyone is handy with a soldering iron. I do not see anything wrong with the button, but I would like Rosewill to beef up the button a little bit and this would be a 5 star product.

I would recommend it.

Worked for me
3/5

I like how it was the results are It's a great thing to have a KVM switch if you have more than one computer. Two stars or three stars was hard for me to decide. 2. I finally settled on that number. Despite the lower price, this wasn't the most expensive model we saw. The product is identical to what I have used before, so I did not hesitate to purchase it. It comes with a little switch that lets you move from one PC to another by pressing a button. A label identifying PC1 and PC2 can be clearly seen on the unit that stores the cables. Your web browser displays a green LED when you are on the correct computer. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a well-made How can only 2 stars be assigned? thing about this is that every time I switch back and forth between PCs, the screen's resolution is set to a lower one. Whenever I wanted to change the resolution, I had to open the display menu, ask it to detect it, and then apply it. After I moved my icons, my desktop seemed to be in a different position. It's unclear whether this is a problem inherent to KVM's, but I suspect this is not the way this is supposed to work. This device would not be acceptable if it was mandatory for me to use it continuously on a daily basis. In my case, however, prices have trumped efficacy, so I have had to accept that. It might be worth your while to buy this if you have a short term project like I did. On the other hand, if you work with more than two computers on a regular basis, I'd suggest looking.

I have updated my preliminary comments
4/5

I found it to be effective for the purpose I needed. The book is only a 4 out of 5 star for me, as I reiterate my initial comments. I opened the package just now. In order to run this application, you will need the very rare Mini B, 5 pin connector (not the more My collection of chargers, power supply units, etc. has 8 connectors, and NONE of them use the Mini 5. Why wasn't the fact that a power supply is not included in the product description clearly stated? In any event, I have called Rosewill tech support (and plugged the unit into a USB port on one of my PCs) and they have confirmed that for my needs the device has the following features With two computers and two printers, you can do the following A sufficient amount of power will be supplied by the computers. If the hub is being used to charge other devices or to power external drives that don't have their own power supply, they will need a dedicated power

Speaking of the ease of use, here are the following recommendations (Neither the instructions nor the tech support representative I spoke with explained how to determine which outgoing ports should be used or how to determine which printer should be used or which computer should be selected. ) I can figure it out through trial and error with only a 2x2 matrix, but a diagram outlining all of that would have been helpful.
