You need to turn the volume on the mini speaker all the way down and as loud as you like because it sounds like you have two speakers on at the same time.

Is this something that can be used for phone calls?

Surprisingly, the price of this mini speaker was well justified. It's not bad for phone calls. It's loud enough for just me, but not so loud that it drowns out the rest of the room. It's perfect if you're outside, and listening to music is great because it's clear and not static. For personal use, this is a nice little speaker.

For a small speaker, it produces excellent sound. To watch movies, I put it on my Amazon tablet. The battery lasts a long time! It lasts for 12 hours of nonstop TV and video games. I would purchase this item again.
