Questions & Answers

Do these get in the way of eyeglass stems?

They don't, in fact. That was my concern as well. I wear ball caps from time to time, and they don't bother me even when I'm wearing glasses and a hat.

Is it possible to outperform AirPods?

It all boils down to personal preference. It's very comfortable for us, and once you've gotten used to it, you barely notice it. Also, the best thing about it is that it fits directly into your ear, but it is close enough that you can hear great music without blocking out the rest of the world's sounds. It's also not as easy to misplace as the airPods, which can pop out at any moment.

Is it also equipped with a microphone, I assume?

Yes, the microphone is turned on for all phone calls, and everyone I speak with compliments me on my voice.

Is it possible to use these with hearing aids that are worn behind the ear?

Most likely not - Because they hang behind the ear, it's unlikely that you'd be able to use both these and behind-the-ear hearing aids at the same time.

It's as if you're wearing nothing at all because it's so light! And yes, I'm going for a Ned Flanders-style headline
4/5

You may use that imagery as you wish. br>To begin with, I dove into the bone conduction headphone pool by purchasing one of Lokmat's less expensive models. The sound quality was poor, and the battery died after only two weeks of use. br>br>However, one thing that has won me over as a runner is the ability to wear headphones and listen to my 80's montage mix without becoming a hood ornament to a passing car. br>br>As a result, I decided to take the plunge and invest in a pair of Aftershokz headphones. If you're a runner, I'll boil it down to a single sentence: Get these because they're worth it. br>br>The air is light; in fact, once I put it on, I don't even notice it's there; and because it doesn't jostle around when I run, it's almost as if I'm running with my own personal soundtrack to a terribly boring movie. One thing to keep in mind is that if you turn the volume all the way up, you'll feel a vibration along your cheek; while this may be distracting for some, I find it to be perfectly acceptable, as is the case with all headphones of this design. br>br>Sound quality is currently the biggest shortcoming of the technology and the reason I can't quite give this 5 stars; I'm also an audiophile, so while this is great for running, it's not as good as my earbuds when it comes to sound quality, so if I'm jamming to my music while trying hard not to make eye contact with anyone on the bus, I wouldn't recommend these for daily use. Don't get me wrong, it's a lot better than the competition; it just isn't quite up to par. br>br>Build quality is excellent; it feels like a high-end product from the packaging to the product itself. I put the back band to the test and it passed with flying colors. Final Verdict: 4/5 almost perfect! Sound is decent for what it is, build is solid, and feel is a breeze. br>br>Final Verdict: 4/5 almost perfect! Sound is decent for what it is, build is solid, and feel is a breeze.

I've been using bone conduction headsets for almost two years and this is the best one for the money
5/5

I first tried some Amazon-branded headphones, which were comfortable but lacked sufficient volume for noisy environments. br>I work as an aircraft mechanic, and right outside the hangar door, helicopters are landing and taking off. br>Even with foam earplugs in, I couldn't hear my music over the no-name brand. br>Next, I purchased Tekz titanium by aftershokz, which had a lot of volume and could still be heard even when helicopters were flying overhead, but they weren't as comfortable. br>Because my employer is an air medical provider, I am required to wear a mask at all times. The elastic and the headphones ridding behind my ears have irritated my ears more and more over time. br>I couldn't just take off my shokz because I have four conference calls a week to attend, and they keep my meetings from being overheard or distracting other employees from their work. br>I purchased these aftershokz airs because they have the same curved ear bows as my old no-name headset, which never had a real pressure point behind my ears. br>The airs haven't irritated my ears, and they have the same volume and sound as the titaniums, without buzzing on louder or deeper notes like the titaniums. br>When I'm on a conference call in a sometimes noisy hangar, the microphone and noise cancelling software perform admirably; it only seems to struggle with wind noise, but turning my head until the noise subsides, as well as placing my hand over the ear piece, seems to reduce it sufficiently for callers to stop complaining. The controls are simple to use and locate with the touch of a finger. Aftershokz makes their buttons feel different by touch, since one has a bump on it, unlike my no-name headset, which had three tiny buttons with nothing to help distinguish between them. Making it easy to tell when the volume is turned up or down. br>The answer button is easy to locate and operates without a hitch. br>I usually keep my shokz in my car and wear them all day at work. After work, I find that they are usually ready to go for an hour or two of exercise on my rowbike, mountain bike, gravel bike, inline skates, kayaks, or cross country skis. br>Bone conduction's open ear feature allows me to enjoy nature while also hearing approaching vehicles or faster riders, which is good for safety, and listening to music in the background. br>It's like having a radio on in the background that I can turn off and on with a simple tap. br>I've worn earbuds at work for years, but I hated not being able to hear what others were saying. My previous employer didn't allow headphones for safety reasons, but they did let me wear one earbud at a time as long as one ear was open. Because both ears would have been open, these would have been preferable. br>br>I recently sold a pair of these to a friend who wears two hearing aids and still has difficulty hearing people. I saw a display in the store and decided to put the demo pair on him while listening to music. He couldn't believe how good the music sounded or that I could still talk to him while he was listening to it. br>They didn't interfere with his hearing aids, which he said most headphones do. His wife complains about how loud he turns up the volume on his speakers when she's in the truck with him or he's on a zoom meeting with his laptop, so he was eager to try them out for phone calls. br>He attends one of my weekly conferences and was blown away when I told him how I join the meeting and share each week.

This is not a good situation for the deaf
3/5

I'm deaf and thought this might work in the same way that cochlear implants do. NOT! It has no effect.

Great
5/5

I've tried every headphone I could find, including a different brand of bone conduction, to no avail. Anything that went in my ear came out of my ear, overhead headphones aren't good for exercising because they sweat and fall off if you bend over, and the bone conduction headphones were stiff and protruded from the back of my neck. These are much more adaptable, and the ear wrap is a nice touch. I can leave them on my ears or let them sit on my neck when I want to talk with someone. They don't irritate me like most headsets do, and they're not as easy to misplace as mini ear buds are because they're kept in your pocket. I like that I can hear ambient noise when I'm out walking the dog and need to keep an eye out for cars. When I'm at home, my husband becomes irritated if I don't listen to him. Because I primarily listen to audio books, I can't comment on the sound quality. But it's ideal for books on tape; I guess I'm the type of person who enjoys listening to audio but has to take breaks to talk to other people or focus on what I'm doing. When I'm hiking, they don't bother me if they're just hanging around my neck because I can't remove them completely. In any case, I'm glad I gave them a try.

Please accept my apologies; they simply do not sound good
3/5

I bought it to be able to hear cars while cycling. Can I get a better sense of what's going on around me? yes. However, the sound quality has deteriorated significantly. It sounds like I'm wearing two pairs of old headphones. I'm not sure how you can convey quality in this manner. It'll never be as good as a pair of earbuds. There's no way. I'd rather not have these things cranked up on my face, irritating me with tin noise.
