The iPad 12" wide will not fit in this headrest; only the iPad air and iPad 2 will fit.
I don't think there's any reason why it shouldn't be done. I haven't given it a shot yet. The attachment appears to be fine; however, whether or not your child will be able to see depends on the angle of the headrest.

This item would have been ideal, but buyers should be aware of the risks involved. When you insert the tablet into this holder, the flap closure does not stay closed. The magnet is very weak, so if you're not paying attention to how you're holding it or if you want to use your tablet in portrait mode, there's a good chance it'll fall out and, in our case, break. The velcro holder for attaching it to car seats and other items is quite large, allowing for attachment to a variety of other items, which is a nice feature.
