It is better to use this handle rather than Unlike the floating part on most GoPros, this handle is a single piece of plastic that connects the camera to the floating part. The reason for this is that you cannot lose the GoPro unless it physically fractures. A compression joint connects the mount and float on the GoPro Handler model. This camera can be operated with one of the longer thumb screws, which has the advantage of being easier to tighten since they stick out beyond the camera body, making it easy to grip. The small wrist strap is also very nice, and it comes with a longer thumb screw. As a GoPro Hero 3+ owner, I have tested this on vacation before taking it with me. As a test, I put the device into a 5 gallon bucket and saw if it would float and if my extended battery pack (GoPro Bacpac) would keep it afloat. It goes without saying that this thing still floats well even when it's attached to an extended battery pack. When submerged, the mount sticks straight out about an inch and a half below the surface of the water. The bottom of the camera hangs down at the lowest point. Keeping the screw cap up and out of the water prevents water from penetrating the compartment, so it is a good thing. Because of its yellow body, it provides better visibility in the water. There are two holes in the screw cap itself A neat feature of this camera is the rings. I have to say that this is a great mount that does exactly what it claims. The product would be a great recommendation.

I highly recommend it. It's been on hold for quite some time and I was hoping for a more thorough review It is not just a bucket test in the driveway but a real-world test. In making my own handle, I used one of those, and these floating handles are comparable to what I made.
During the process of washing the truck, I conducted my first test in a bucket. Water was unable to enter the handle because the handle floated and held a tight seal. There is nothing to worry about. Those who go diving or snorkeling with their GoPros will appreciate this item, as it allows them not to lose their camera. It was my first dive using this handle, and the screwcap that was tied to my wrist came loose in the last five minutes of the dive. I lost the GoPro in the ocean, but could not find it. After three weeks, the boat washed up on the shore by a good Samaritan. As a result, the handle floated eventually, but the screw cap did not remain on, and it was a month + until I realized this was lost, so I do not give it a quality rating. It is recommended that handles without a screw cap be used.
