Questions & Answers

To print a picture, why do I have to share my phone contact list and GPS location?

It is not necessary for you Bypassing that step is possible. When you are taking a picture with a friend, you can also share it with them or something similar. Instead of using that feature, I choose not to use it.

Do you think that this newer model is any better than the original one? Do they differ in any way?

Compared with the older model, I believe the newer one There's a big difference between the print quality of the second edition and the original edition. A bit more red tones are present, but the blues are very washed out and the contrast is poor.

Are you required to buy ink for the printer?

It's hard to say. For my granddaughter, I purchased this item. Upon opening the package, I found no mention that I would have to buy ink anywhere on the paperware included. I'm sorry I was not able to be more helpful. You might want to check the HP website and see if you can find any more information there.

This device was brand new when I bought it. What is the purpose of stating November, 2015 as the first printing date?

It's just an automatic date set, so you can adjust it in the settings

Selected User Reviews For HP Sprocket Portable 2x3 Instant Photo Printer (Black Noir) Starter Bundle

The user must share their contact list and GPS location in order to use this device
3/5

A picture should not require a person to disclose their address book and GPS location just to print it. In order to use the printer, all the above items must be done. Aside from the fact that the blue color is very washed out, there are no details to identify.

Take the time to conduct research before you make a purchase
4/5

The quality of what you get depends on the price you pay. Sadly, they are not of the highest quality, but they are still very useful for specific communities. The HP Sprocket printer was purchased to serve as a guest book for my wedding reception. A mini-moon was planned for us as well as an elopement Throughout the year, various groups of friends and family attend receptions. An idea to have a photo guest book was a great way of tying everything together and making it more cohesive. An Etsy shop sold me the personalized guest book and an Amazon shop sold me the printer and paper. Printing out the pictures did give a warmer hue to them than the originals, but I didn't care about it. My phone has a selfie stick attached to it, and I let kids print from my phone, we only had about 15 guests per party so it wasn't a big deal for me. It has been a pleasure to work with these printers and photo paper packets! Furthermore, I favor the older design as well. The appearance of these new designs as well as the gritty feel at the top of the printer are not acceptable to me. Since it's the newest version of the Sprocket (not including the Speocket Plus), I had to buy it, right? Newer is supposed to be better, This machine print outs on a variety of different kinds of paper and the paper is really easy to change. I say this because understanding what you're getting when you purchase this printer will help you not to Every review I’ve read had been so thorough, so I knew what I was getting and so far I haven’t been disappointed.

This is what I wish I'd known before I used it
4/5

Despite the fact that it doesn't have the prettiest color, I've had numerous occasions when I've allowed guests to use the printer and print photos. Everyone enjoyed having the photo sticker as a souvenir (like purikura, the traditional Japanese stick). Here are some things I wish I had known before I started using them This is *br1. There is a cost involved in using photo paper There will be a charge of 50 cents per sheet when it is not There are times when Amazon has a half-off sale. Be sure to keep an eye out for those and stock up when times are good. 3.
Picture under something flat like a magazine. ZINK technology is utilised to print the picture (heat), so if the photo is left to cool on a table by itself, the picture may curl. If it is used as a sticker, it does not matter, but if it is just left up as a piece of artwork, it will not look as good. The curling can be reduced in some cases by placing something on top while it cools.

A lot of blue is present in the design and in the printed photographs
3/5

When the HP Sprocket printer was offered to me, I was eager to receive it. I had longed for a portable photo printer for a long time. I found setting it up to be fairly straightforward You can connect through Bluetooth by downloading the app. There lies the end of simplicity. If you want to edit your photo after selecting a photo from your device for printing, you can do so after selecting the photo for printing. Cropping and centered a photo are among the tasks I had to perform. A cropping feature is the only negative about this product. The aspect ratio can only be preserved when you crop a photo. Due to the nature of this photo, that wouldn't work, so if we wanted to print it, I would have to edit it on my device first. That's the first strike. The second strike is that the app doesn't allow you to refresh your camera roll. This picture was sent to me by my granddaughter, and she asked me to print it. My camera roll was not visible in the app because the app was already open prior to saving the picture. I had to force close the app and restart it to see the picture. I give this photo a three out of five. Almost all the colors in the photo I tested were flawless, because I used a professional photograph. There was an excessive amount of blue in the end. There is no doubt that the original photo has a lot more blue than any other color, but even the skin and the face are in some way tinged blue. This is what I think in general Printing this for fun with frames and filters is probably a good idea. If you want to take a photo of at least halfway decent quality, then this device is not the right pick.

The latest version of iOS does not support this app
3/5

Apple products from the last few years do not support this application. The iPhone XS and the iPad Pro were both tried, as well as an iPad mini. There are two different statements regarding the accessory not being It is the first device I have ever encountered that is completely It is clear that HP's support website is littered with questions asking for help, and none of their techs seem to have any clues, and HP does not appear to have any plans to address this. I find that really disappointing. The fact that HP is not taking this issue more seriously is beyond me. It is not advisable to buy if you are an Apple user.

The lack of color is a problem
3/5

Setup is easy and it is easy to It is quite difficult to get the colors correct in other apps, and it requires quite a bit of retouching and color correction to make the print look good. It is also not possible to print pictures from the app unless you allow GPS location permissions, which is not related to printing pictures. HP need to know where I am when I print photos, and I don't like that. This will be kept as a novelty, but not good enough to use as scrapbook fabric. In addition to HP branded Zink paper, I obtained the same results using the same cartridges.

I have never seen such poor color and print quality before
3/5

I really want to like this product because I like the idea of being able to give people prints without having to wheel around a large printer or having to ship prints, but the photos look awful. It doesn't work with any of the calibration cards I have tried. I have tried multiple packs. This printer does not only have great color, but it also has terrible In the pictures I have attached, I have taken quick photos with my phone that show a very cheap printer that is not that great (actually, it costs a lot less per print than the Zink Paper) and my Sprocket photo. I have included some close ups of that to show the banding. This printer should be avoided at all costs!.
