It is an excellent video monitor and external recorder, but it is quite bulky
5/5

waffling back and forth for few weeks about whether to buy an Atomos or this monitor for HD video monitoring and recording with a single camera and separate microphone, I bought The screen was a little more expensive for the features, and yes, if I had the choice, I would prefer 4K, but I don't plan on upgrading all the rest of my equipment from 1080p to 4K for the next two years So this one is for you! In addition to being able to see focus, extra fine details such as hair that is out of place are also visible thanks to the 7" screen size. Features such as zebra stripes, scopes, and other video features all work extremely well in real-time using multiple cameras and plenty of computers. There is a simple and intuitive menu system, and the entire touch interface is easy to use A thought-provoking thought Take a walk. Choosing a fast SD card for HD recording is a good option, and you can get some very nice SD cards for a low price. It is still impossible for me to hear the fan on the back even after recording for two or three hours. This was a concern I had about using the device, that the fan would be loud enough to be able to hear it on recordings-but indoors in a conditioned environment (*76°F), the fan either never kicked on or was extremely One pet peeve I have is that I cannot set it to record one mono channel for both Left and Right channels in the recorded files. So I have to switch the Left channel audio over to Mono in post, which is just a bit frustrating Almost 2 pounds makes it a little tricky to hold it. So you might want to invest in a sturdy tripod (I bought a Manfrotto Pixi EVO to use on my desk).
