There is no way to separate the ball from its base.
I am not sure how much weight is involved, but I can tell you that you can put a good set of B1 strobes and they will not move a millimeter. As for my Godox 600B, it is working fine. It is the best tool from Kupo and the most widely used.

This marvelous piece of hardware is here to help. now have the ability to attach a beauty dish, or even any other heavy light modifier, and have it stay in place. There is an Avenger C-series model in my possession The stands still knock me out each time, but I am becoming more and more amazed with the little details Kupo puts into them. A drop-down pin from Avenger was also ordered from Amazon. It works in almost the same manner, but the Avenger doesn't have the free-moving "ball joint," which allows for infinite positioning.

I am very satisfied with the quality of this "spigot" head. I am a huge fan of the products from Kupo. I can tell you right now, it has a good bit of heft to it! As such, you would likely need to add some extra weight, even if you had more than one in your photography kit if you were planning to use this as a portable item. Then you'll know for sure it'll last you a lifetime and be able to hold some heavier studio lighting Considering the price, you'd be wise to get it if you need.
I didn't know how I survived without them.
It was exactly as described and.
As far as I remember, I have 4 so far. Therefore, I am satisfied with their performance so far. As of now, I have 4 Konoko 40" Master C-type drumsticks, but I will get more when I can get a couple more. This stand comes with a turtle base. In addition to using them on light stands, I also use them on portable.
