The Newtonians 2" HR Coma Corrector by Scientific is the perfect way to correct comas

Questions & Answers

The 8 inch Newton 750fl is going to work well with the 10 inch Dobsonian 1200fl, right?

Designed to fit any 2" focuser, this coma corrector provides excellent coma correction. A scope that has a 1 is considered to be an entry. You cannot use this focuser with a 25" lens. This is the case if it has a 2" focuser it can be adjusted up or down to correct this common aberration among aplanatic reflectors of the classic type. A coma corrector is especially necessary for Newtonian reflectors with fast focal ratios, since the curved reflecting surface of the primary mirror introduces aberration as the focal ratio approached one. The coma corrector is almost certainly going to be needed if your focal ratio is less than f/5. In contrast, at f/10 the coma is negligible with a properly figured Primary, and at ratios above f/6 it is usually not a problem for casual observation. Dobsonians are usually Newtonians at f/7 or even f/8, with a medium focus. It is not too common to be affected by aberrations larger than 5, Coma is often caused by poor collimation in a medium or long focal length Newtonian scope. Before investing in a coma corrector, make sure the problem isn't caused by bad collimation. Astigmatism often appears to be coma as a result of an misaligned secondary mirror, which can be confused with coma. The same misdiagnosis has happened to me with a medium focus Newt, but I've tested the collimation after I'd made it and found the secondary In addition to a 12, I also have an 11-year-old. I checked the focal ratios and concluded that it was really close to 4 for the 5" Newtonian and no amount of collimation would fix it, so I looked and found it was actually There is a coma-inducing ratio of 5, at which comas are inevitably irritating. A pair of Explore Scientific eyepieces fits the focuser's 2" diameter, so an ES COMA corrector could be used in place of the ES focuser. Another problem that can arise with coma correctors is that image sharpness can be reduced with certain eyepieces, especially if they are close to the Dawes limit of your telescope. (This is also related to In my experience, the ES coma corrector works with ES eyepieces best and not so well with TeleVue Naglers, although this is not a fact I can verify with any certainty. In my understanding, the purpose of a coma corrector is to account for the inherent aberrations in short focus lenses.

How should I write my What is the standard eyepiece size for 25" (1 1/4")?

Most certainly. Put a 1 in place of it. An adapter that converts 25" to 2". For as little as $12, these are readily available.

It's impossible to survive without it I can pinpoint stars all the way With my 16" f/4 I can do a lot with it
5/5

We have at least one telescope with f/5 and a couple with f/5. As long as I could remember, I assumed that I didn't need a coma corrector and that I could live without one. There was always a significant amount of coma on the outer 30% of my field when using my wide-field eyepieces. Until I tried the Explore Scientific HR Coma Corrector, I thought it was OK. A coma corrector suitable for scopes as low as There is no comparability to ) and it corrects comas well. In a similar manner, it will create that "WOW" factor as going up in aperture. Corrected and uncorrected images have a much better contrast than those that are not. There was also a loss of bloat as stars became sharper pinpoints across the field. It became much easier to separate double stars, large star clusters became more captivating, and we became more comfortable observing them. By adding it to my eyepiece kit, I was able to make much better observations. The additional weight of this component will add some heft to the focuser, but it is worth the effort. As with the more expensive Televue Paracorr with tunable top, the Helical top allows smoother adjustment of focus between eyepieces, and it offers finer focusing precision than the more expensive Televue Paracorr with helical top. I use this eyepiece with my Explore Scientific 100 degree eyepieces and find it a joy to use.

You will be able to watch without comas! This is a great, sturdy product, so I decided to give this one a try after comparing the feature box to the GSO and Tele Vue Paracorr II models
5/5

Prior to beginning the assignment I conducted some research and determine that I need a little more background information My goal was to perform HRCC with this, so I purchased 3 M6-based HRCC's I am using 0x60mm bolts to move my mirror up the tube of my Z12 dome. As a result, I am now able to get all of my eyepieces to focus both with and without the HRCC, but removing the HRCC would be a mistake since this scope produces the best glimpses of the DSO and planets I have ever seen. It is possible to let Jupiter track from edge to edge of my 100° eyepieces and keep a sharp image. After focus is achieved, it is no longer possible to notice the coma. My favorite focus is the helical one, but parfocal eyepieces are much easier to use. Until I had this accessory, I was not convinced I needed The view is cleaner in version 9, but I am really enjoying it. In the event that you have the flexibility to accommodate its in-demand features, we highly recommend this product Added focus and weight to the focus requirement. Please note

It has decent optics and is easy to operate
5/5

Newtonian telescopes with "faster" focal ratios can have coma distortion as one of their drawbacks. A fourth-stop lens is available to me. In observation of stars rather than planets and nebulae, he learned this to be true. As you know, it is recommended that you use Although I normally use the Explore Scientific eyepieces I already own to correct coma, I found that the View Paracorr coma corrector worked perfectly with the Explore Scientific eyepieces I usually use. Compared to the highly specialized lenses of more expensive brands, these optics are more modestly priced An additional advantage of the lens is its optical properties.
