Questions & Answers

Will I receive the item I order? I am a bit nervous about this purchase. ?

A Z8 will arrive by January 28th, 2019, according to the order I placed on January 10th. The following week, I was informed that things were moving more quickly than expected and that the package was going to be shipped It was delivered on January 19th in great condition with both boxes (base in one and OTA in the other) delivered at the same time. It looks like the boxes were taped together in the warehouse to indicate that

The telescope that I bought is one of these. The base was not included in the package when it came. The chat guy is now insisting on my having to purchase the item. What do I need to do?

Mine also did not come with the base, which is supposed to include it. is covered in stickers indicating that it is sold as a set and that it is the first of two. Hope you have a good time! Make sure you are careful when you buy.

When I order this, will I receive the scope and base as well? Is there a chance I will have to contend with the same problem as other people?

I guess we'll have to add another order screwup to the list. In my case, too, I only received the base (twice) when I ordered the Z8 on 11/13. Given the fact that this has been occurring since 2018, I can't believe they haven't figured out what's going on. Upon receiving this box, I noted a large label on the box saying "Sold as a set.". My guess is by the time the order is shipped, nobody is checking the actual contents of Box 1. kicker is that any replacement you receive will only arrive in January because it is backordered.

Upon buying mine (on Dec 8), it indicated to get it by December 14. As soon as it arrived, it was "arriving I'm waiting for it to arrive on Monday (7). Can you tell me when it will ?

Unfortunately, neither I nor my colleagues were able to track their orders.

The skyline views were breathtaking
5/5

It was a good value for the money. The Z8 has been in my possession for over a month now and I am pleased with it. I am not an expert in any way since this is my first telescope. Moreover, I am working on a tight budget, so it is not possible for me to buy premium eyepieces and accessories. I get the following impressions from my first look In two boxes, the telescope comes pretty well-packaged and is delivered. There is a spot on the surface closer to the border of one of the base side boards on mine. This is likely a result of factory assembly but does not I found the online assembly video instruction videos to be more helpful than the 2009 PDF manual because it was short yet clearly written and provides useful information on collimation and general usage. After 30-45 minutes, the process was complete There were some small mistakes along the way, so it took 40 minutes to assemble. I can tell that the 9mm and 30mm eyepieces included are quite good in my opinion, even though I'm not an expert. With the 30mm, you can see the vast expanse of space clearly. It is easy and smooth to focus the Crayford. Most of the time, I use the coarse focus knob to focus on stars and distant objects, but the fine focus knob is also For comfortable viewing, it is important to be in a good position. In some situations, it is better to sit down, while in others, simple standing and stooping makes more sense. For people who need to lean on or sit, it is imperative that a chair is nearby. The Zhumell Z8 is one of those telescopes that don't often get mentioned (as well as the Aperturas, which I think are the same telescope) because the optical tube (OTA) on the base can be easily adjusted up or down With a balanced OTA you won't have to strain over the tube as much to keep objects in view as you won't have to push and pull the tube as much. On the side of the base is a numbered scale which is used to slide the OTA up or down. This telescope comes with a laser collimator, and this was something that threw me off at first. In the end, these need to be aligned or calibrated too (fancy word for aligned or calibrated) as well. The instructions on the online site were unclear and my image was way off center. Due to my overtightening of the adjustment screws, I had experienced damage. You need to loosen all three screws on your laser to align it. Turn them gently until the laser is A key word in this sentence You won't have to adjust very often after you figure this out, because once you know how, it's quite simple.

In terms of collimation, it may seem confusing at first, but there are some very nice videos that tell you how it The mirrors need to be aligned and centered, and it takes only a few minutes once you learn how to do it. It is best to do this during the day and later use a star to fine-tune it, if necessary. However, in the evenings I don't usually need to adjust it. If one is thinking about a Dobsonian telescope, they must think about their size. They capture light very effectively but can be large and heavy over 8 inches (but can be fairly light below 8 inches). You'll have to remove the OTA and the base separately, and in my case that involves going down three steps and I have a fear of banging doors or tripping down the steps as I take the OTA with me like a fragile newborn. When you place the OTA on the base and tighten the two side knobs, it takes just 10 seconds for it to be set up outdoors. All I have to say. However, they are bulky and don't take up much room compared to a tripod set up. They can also be stored vertically but are difficult to transport around. The library is a great place to check out star gazing books as well as to get a planisphere (*$19) to get a better idea of what you are looking The scope comes with a 9mm and 30mm pair of Agena eyepieces and a 2x Barlow lens but you don't need to purchase those to start using the scope, they just add versatility in the long run. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product. It's always a pleasure to look through a telescope, as the views are often breathtaking. I have also found that a telescope can be a social experience as well as a learning curve. Having it on display for the first time really amazes people, and I often get a lot of wows when they do so.

Update It has been two years since this telescope has been a favorite of mine. This program is simple and easy to use. This book is highly.

I'm telling you, man! When i ordered two tubes and ten dobsonian telescopes from amazon, they told me they couldn't get the base, even though all the pictures of the scopes I looked at showed the base! Is the scope worth the price if the base is not included? The Amazon line up of scopes will have a base when every one of them does! I CAN'T BELIEVE CHRISTMAS IS HERE! Is it a fishy yes?

The aperture of this dobsonian telescope is quite large, and it is fairly portable
5/5

Well, yeah, I was frustrated after I placed my order as well. My first order consisted of just the base ("box 2 of 2"), but after chatting online with Amazon, a second order was placed and I received both boxes 1 week later Two bases, one containing the optical tube and the other The box I returned was unopened and I used UPS to return it (for no charge Even though things were a bit confusing at the beginning, it ended up working out. (I'm not sure what happened to Sarah (see her review), but I guess I was lucky. Item was shipped quickly each time. Whatever the case, this is an excellent It has been a while since I have shot my Orion XT8 dob however, I decided to try out a larger aperture, and wow, what a difference it made. You can see bright deep sky objects (Messiers and others) without averted vision with the Z12. On the ring nebula you can see a bit of color. Through the eyepiece on my cell phone, I was able to capture an image of the ring nebula and several globular clusters. (This isn't fabulous astrophotography, but it's "mine". Objects in the deep night sky, planets, and the moon will have better detail captured and a noticeable improvement. While the galaxies are still dim, there is a much better level of detail in spiral arms, etc.

It is heavy, admittedly, but the tube and base can be removed separately from each other to carry. It's easier to grab and go with the tube design over the truss tube design because, despite its weight, the scope can be used quickly and easily without a tripod An example of a deck of cards Also, it maintains its collimation quite well and is very easy to use a laser collimator with. In a few months, the same scope will be available from Orion (among others). However, Orion's price has jumped to $999 (which I presume is due to tariffs) and it has been very slow in shipping. As usual, customer service at Orion is outstanding (excuse the pun), but in this case I was able to get it faster and cheaper elsewhere. Despite this, Amazon provided immediate assistance and resolved the shipment errors within a short period of time. This is, at least, how it appears to me. That's a wrap. . . . Once I got it, I was delighted! Don't know what to say about the shipping issues, but once I received it, it was wonderful!.

You can't beat the value of this product
5/5

For my cabin in Upper Michigan, I picked up this scope. It will only be used for about two weeks per year, so I want to find something in the 8 inch range. The storage space would have been limited if the object were larger. For my young cousins, it provided fantastic views of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars over the summer months. The Trifid nebula and Andromeda were also one of the highlights of my trip. There was no problem assembling either package, and both arrived intact and in good condition. of a few other people who didn't receive the base, but I didn't have such a Even though the included eye pieces are OK, you should upgrade if this is going to be your main scope. The full range of Explore Scientific 82 and 100 degree E. P. 's which I love but did not bring The EP kit I had came with a different scope I purchased years ago, so I had a generic Zhumell EP kit. For anyone who is just getting into scopes, this would be a great choice. You will never get bored of its views unless you get aperture fever! Adding a Telrad made finding objects easier. I was able to collimate it using my Howie Glitzer tublug instead of the laser collimator that came with the scope. A scope like this is great for anyone just getting started in astronomy, and also for anyone who has some space(storage) concerns.

Do not read the following This telescope turned out to be a nightmare due to its price
3/5

I thought after investing so much money in a telescope I would have no major issues. A portion of the scope falls off because the threads are loose and the finder scope is not even attached securely. This collimator (I am sorry for the spelling) inside was a joke, the springs or whatever they were were falling out, and the batteries were corroded. My next step is to assemble the entire thing and figure out how to get it back apart and into two boxes so that I can ship it back to the manufacturer. I find both the customer service and the product to be complete jokes.
