Questions & Answers

Does this mic work great with the mic out (not using the hotshoe) on the Nikon D610 camera?

You'll need to come up with some clever ways to give the microphone power if you want to do that. In addition to powering the microphone and feeding the audio outs to the camera, the hotshoe wiring serves as the wiring for the microphone. For that camera, it would be better to purchase another mic.

What is the compatibility between this and the ?

Since the A3000 comes with a multifunctional display, this should be possible The shoe that interfaces with the computer. This requires RX100Mk2 and NEX6 for it to work.

- Can it be used with PXW ?

As its name suggests, the hot shoe includes a multi-function connection that will allow up to 18 features to be connected. The number of contacts is 20. The "hot shoe" feature of your camera may be able to accommodate your needs. Most DSLR's and video cameras come with a multifunction shoe that works well with it.

It is an excellent microphone for SLR cameras! A far superior microphone to the built-in one
4/5

The company's nbsp This is what I bought to use as a replacement for the Sony A6000, which has a terrible built-in mic. A perfect replacement for this item. This microphone will be compared with the built-in microphone on the Sony A6000 in a video I will be posting. The following pros With the directionality of this microphone, you will be able to drastically reduce background noises, It provides better clarity when shooting directly at a subject* It comes with a Wind Screen for better outdoor performance* It can be adjusted to have a 0 degree or 120 degree polar pattern depending on the subject you are shooting* * * * CONS I think it is the microphone that produces the white noise in videos*My video player has a little bit of white noise in the video
Little pricey but.

Neither improves the quality of sound recordings nor does it harm them
3/5

Several products were recommended to me by my brother and I to improve the sound on my Sony A6000 camera (which doesn't have a microphone jack, so I have few options). My system is just a few days old, so I haven't tested it thoroughly yet. With and without the "dead cat" (furry cover), I recorded several sound recordings indoors and outdoors. I then imported each of them into a Premiere Pro sequence in order to compare them. In most cases, I was unable to tell the difference between the sound when I recorded with the mike, or when I recorded with the camera's internal microphone. Two other people did a "blind" evaluation for me the only time I could hear a very tiny difference. My headphones are on hand, and I play them the two clips that I think sound The clips were made with the newly purchased mike. Both of them thought the clips are better with the INTERNAL A6000. I have just returned this mike. I do not know how any of these negative reviews could be coming from the same company. You should test anything you buy objectively before purchasing it Trust that it is making an impact, but don't just take their word for it. The cut-off portion of a spool of duct tape is used to wrap the pipe I tried wrapping a kitchen sponge around the internal mike to eliminate wind sounds, and my tests indicated that it worked at least as well as the dead cat that ships with the microphone.

Choosing the right Sony A6000 accessory is important
4/5

The Sony A6000 is the best camera to use unless you plan on recording audio separately and recording it in Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro to synchronize with your video. It shook me when I found out this camera lacked an audio jack (my fault), but I found out that there are many amazing options once I did extensive research and considered changing my A mic like this is hard to find! Even basic programs like iMovie can cut down background noises by clicking the "reduce background noise" button. The sound can be tinny and have a lot of white noise, but this goes away once the box is clicked (reduce background noise). It is clear that this is unnoticeable in video editing software of higher quality. Generally, I use this as well as a basic lavalier mic (Amazon recommended) with my iPhone (I use the app that comes with the phone) so that I have multiple audio options and I can experiment My favorite part is that Adobe Premier comes with Adobe Creative Suite, which I didn't realize! I do believe that it's a bit overpriced for the ability to still edit, however, it's much better than the internal mic, especially after editing audio. Although, it is easy and intuitive to attach it to the hotshoe, and I have appreciated the rotation feature as well. You'd definitely be better off paying this price than The Sony shotgun mic costs 99, or you can buy an expensive bluetooth lavalier or mic kit for much more. If your budget is huge, then those are the only ones you need.

The stereo mic works nicely with my Sony A6000
3/5

I've been using it for a month or two now, and it is an improvement over the built-in mics. There are a limited number of external microphones that will work with this camera since it doesn't have a microphone input that could co-exist with external microphones. There's only one that works with the Sony hot shoe at the top of the lens. As far as I know, this Sometime the sound quality with this mic is not the best due to a large amount of echo. This can be determined by the environment in which you are using it. While outside, it doesn't do this, but inside, even when I cannot hear an echo effect live in the room, I can still hear it when I use this headset microphone. The two mics spread into their wide angle positions seems to assist with this in some way.

For loud/musical situations without too much wind, it is worth it to invest in a HX400V
4/5

When it came to taking pictures with my Sony DSC-HX50 I was unsure whether to get this microphone We decided not to purchase the HX400V for quite some time, mostly due to the number of negative reviews that said the audio quality was no better than (some of) the built-in mics on Sony cameras. A proprietary multi/multi layer is used in the HX400V, as well as a few other Sony cameras The interface shoe is the only option for adding an external microphone and this microphone appears to be the only option that works well with it - I find this to be most useful for the following examples We perform in/outdoors as a band or as a theater/dance group. In one instance, I recently had a shoot (outdoor marching band) that was in danger of being destroyed by wind noise, and in that case, I lacked enough time to schedule the post-production Since I had no choice but to rely on the camera mics, I could not add Thank goodness all the camera microphones were decent stereo units (thank you, Sony), so I ended up being able to salvage what footage I had taken from the various recordings. My lesson has been learned, and I will no longer use windmills In the future, we plan on using screened microphones for This mic's price dropped again to $90, so I bit the bullet to grab it for the sole reason that I can add a windscreen if needed (it has one already) once I've been using it a bit. The HX400V was the subject of my first test During a light breeze and a marching band, I recorded it from the bleachers of a high school stadium. If the audio quality is poor A new external microphone has improved the bass response) and stereo image, but the wind noise has also increased. The wind screen reduced the wind noise to the same level as the internal mic (with wind noise reduction turned off in the camera), but the over-sensitivity of the external mic kept it from being a perfect match for the internal mic. Although there were still some issues, recorded audio was a significant The second test I've done with a HDR-capable device The CX900 is I set up the camera on a tripod outside in the evening on a breezy evening to record the sounds of nature and ambiance, alternately using the internal microphone and this external x/y mic. These are the observations I gathered There is an automatic wind noise reduction feature on this camera by default when using the built-in microphone and it works audio was acceptable even though there was wind noise and overall the audio was pleasant to listen to. In the absence of the windscreen, the wind noise was atrocious, and I had to unplug the windscreen. Wind is attracted to it like a In the end, adding the wind screen did lower the level of noise, but instead of the mild hiss associated with the built-in mic (and wind noise reduction), the result was a low rumbling. It was impossible to use the recorded audio as a result.

I took my third test with the CX900 after testing both the HX400V and the HX400V It was only 13 x 13' in a small room (with a running ceiling fan) where I recorded live musical instruments (drum set and bass guitar). In this case, stereo separation and audio fidelity benefited dramatically from using this microphone, however, the wind from the ceiling fan was still picked up only when using this microphone (without a Compared to the internal mics on the CX900, the HX400 provided a higher level of audio quality. In addition, I am able to connect external microphones via the USB port of the CX900. So I compared it to the audio recorded from a Sony ECM MS957 (stereo mic), and I guess it should be no surprise that the MS957 is still considerably better Although it is not designed to be permanently attached to a camera) Notes on

There was a significant improvement in sound quality when using this microphone over the internal mics when recording loud sounds alternating with quiet ones (the quiet ones remain quiet, the background hiss remains the same, and the hiss does not ramp up as it will with an auto-mute). Circuits that control volume and gain are There is no longer an option for the user to reduce wind noise or adjust the audio gain when using any external microphone with the Sony cameras mentioned As long as the mic doesn't clip (hopefully), then that's all you're going to hear. There are two versions of the test - one with and one without the low-voltage On the microphone there is a cut filter switch and I have never noticed any difference in sound quality cannot find a specification on exactly what frequency the signal attenuates below (any one I will most likely keep the filter If you switch between an internal mic and any external microphone (or vice versa) on any of the Sony cameras mentioned, you need to stop and restart recording each time. It is not possible to do hot swapping. As a conclusion, I would like to say While I'm disappointed that the wind noise is about a wash (with the included wind filter on which I'll just leave it on all the time), I am happy to have the option to record enhanced stereo audio using my HX400V when necessary. As for my CX900, it is probably less likely that I would use it since I have other, better (cabled) options to choose between.
