The 24 patch Classic target is an industry standard that can be used to create custom camera profiles as well as serve as a visual color reference.

Since 1976, professional photographers all over the world have relied on this product for consistent, reliable color.
In minutes, it creates professional, custom camera profiles, checks images, adjusts white balance, and performs color correction.
Color grading can be used by filmmakers; cameras and lights should be checked.
Designers have the ability to inspect any printing or proofing process.
Several third-party software programs contribute to the success of this project.

Questions & Answers

I'm new to photography and want to get a color checker to help me out. Is there any additional software I'll need? Apart from Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, what other software do you use?

Dear Sir or Madam, The Rite color checker comes with its own software that must be installed in order for Lightroom and Photoshop to recognize it and calibrate the colors appropriately. Photoshop and Lightroom, on the other hand, will handle 99 percent of the work. 99% of your needs are met; whether you're a novice or an expert

Is it necessary to purchase both versions for stills and video, or can this be used for both? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a video? Is it possible that one is a superset of the other?

The photo version is the only one I have. I use it for white balance and color correction when shooting jpegs (rather than raw) that I don't want to post-process heavily or at all in Photoshop or Lightroom. However, it could also be used to record video. The video version's description emphasizes the importance of multi-tasking. camera setups where you're shooting video with two or three cameras at the same time and want to make sure the colors are consistent across all of them so you don't have to do as much color correction in post. There's no reason why the photo version of this device wouldn't suffice if you're shooting video with just one camera.

Does the color chart have a matte or a glossy finish? Biob Acks, thank you?

Matte color squares with flat black borders make up the chart. On the chart, there are no gleaming spots.

Is it really necessary to use the color checker if you're just going to apply presets to the image? Is it effective throughout the session, both in the shade and in the sun?

The ColorChecker is a professional tool that is essential for producing consistent, accurate photographs. Every time you change your lighting situation, you must take a photo with the ColorChecker included. That is, one in the shade and one in the sun, one with flash and one without, and so on. To get the best results, you should also use the manual white balance setting. Preset color balance is largely ineffective because it is a "guess" at what "normal" is.

3/5

This has worked extremely well; my only complaint is the transportation and wear and tear. I had an X-ray machine when I was younger. I used to have a Rite that came with a plastic flip case to protect the material, and I wish this one did as well. When you're on set, it's inconvenient to have to locate and store this in a plastic bag when it's not in use. To be able to simply close it to provide protection is a much better design. I've read other reviews where the card colors were scratched during shipping, and I believe it. You'd think that with such a high-priced product and the fact that they previously used a protective case, they'd do the same with this one. Shame.

Now I have the appearance of a professional colorist
5/5

This thing has instantly improved the color of my photos and videos by a factor of ten. I wish I had purchased the one designed specifically for video, but this one will suffice. This one is designed with photographers in mind. However, if you don't already have it, you should get it. It will enhance the professional appearance of your photography and videography. Make a personal investment!.

It has excellent functionality
3/5

The customer service is a disaster. Simply having the ability to create dual illuminant profiles is huge, and I can apply them to all of my images after importing them into LightRoom. Single profiles, on the other hand, are even more accurate when needed. Adding the Passport Photo 2 to my photographic color management system has improved the quality, speed, and accuracy of my work. Nonetheless. br>br> (Isn't it true that there's always one? ) The ColorChecker software did not work in Lightroom when I first installed it. The desktop version, which was installed at the same time, worked perfectly, so I went online and looked for videos on how to fix it. It was a complete failure. It was not possible to locate the Lightroom plugin. As a result, I went to the C: drive and looked around. There wasn't anything in the XXXusernameXXXmodules directory. All of my other plugins were present and accounted for. ColorChecker, on the other hand, isn't one of them. By this point, I'd installed and uninstalled the product four times on my computer, using both my user and admin accounts. So I went to the XRite website's support page and explained what was going on and asked for assistance. br>A few hours later, I had a thought. I logged into the computer as an administrator and went to the admin C: drive. XXXusernameXXXmodules is the folder for the XXXusernameXXXusernameXXXusernameXXXusernameXXXusername There was a plugin there. Everything worked after I copied it and put it in the same folder on my user account. After three or four hours, I received a response from XRite, who informed me that they are supported by another company. I attempted to contact them via the XRite website as well, but there was no "contact us" option, and they only sent me the first solution, which was available on YouTube and did not work. The end result is pure wizardry. br>br> The company's customer service and old videos are both terrible. It took me several hours to install and test the product. And I was the one who made the fix, not XRite.

I'm a firm believer right now! I was perplexed for a long time as to why such a tool was required
5/5

I initially mistook it for nothing more than a fancy way of doing white balances, which I already did. What a mistake I made! br>br>On a recent ocean portrait shoot, I experimented with this for the first time. After applying the custom calibration in post, the colors suddenly exploded with vibrance and precision. This is after a long struggle with skin color correction in Camera Raw; my photos have never looked better! br>br>In a nutshell, if used correctly, this thing will make your images more vibrant while also making the color correction process much easier. The skin was instantly perfect. br>br>I shot these images with a Sony A7R IV and a 135mm G-Master lens. Master. br>br>If you're in the business of professional photography, this is a must-have!.

This is a must-have tool for color-blind people
5/5

work that is essential To paraphrase that beer commercial, I must confess that I do not use this product for all of my photography, but I do rely on it when I need accurate color reproduction. Rite ColorChecker is a tool that allows you to check the color of your clothing If you do product photography, digitize color documents for archival purposes, care about skin tone in portraiture, or want to preserve the nuances of, say, the most delicate hue gradations of flower petals, do yourself a favor and pick one up. br>br>The ColorChecker book is well-made and has the solid feel that only a plastic product can have. It could have been smoother in terms of opening and closing. It also makes a lot of noise, which makes me nervous and make me double-check everything. Make sure nothing is broken. br>My final complaint is about Lightroom's workflow: following the completion of X- Lightroom must be restarted in order to use the Rite ColorChecker Camera Calibration software. Otherwise, it won't recognize the newly created camera profile. I wish X-Plane could recognize the newly generated camera profile. Rite and Adobe might be able to work out a solution together. br>br>I've attached a sample photo taken with a Sony 7RM3 camera. The differences should hopefully translate even after Amazon's recompression. In my original image, they are clearly visible: Although it is subtle, it is noticeable.
