There is a lot of complexity to color balance
4/5

I am a semi-expert at computers I am a professional photographer, so for me, polarizers and color balance tools are the two most challenging photographic accessories. Both of them have proven to be unreliable for me. It can sometimes be a wonderful outcome and other times it can be a disaster. In the same way, so it is here. There is no doubt that the product performs exactly according to its description. It is no secret that Gary Fong is a name to be known in the world of You shouldn't expect it to work miracles, and don't expect it to always give you the best results. The purpose of combining a color balancer and your DSLR camera's custom white balance settings is to shift the overall color tone back to what you normally see in daytime. I know, I know - but if you insist I'll do it There are times, though, when things shot in shadows or on overcast days don't work well with standard daylight tone, or the custom balance tends to overcompensate and make the image too "warm. " It's sometimes a marked improvement while other times it isn't. When I take photos of people, I find this to be most important You need a skin tone that's right for your subject If you are taking landscape photos, you will have to experiment to see what looks best. It pisses me off that Amazon has turned off the ability to attach photos to a review of a photography product. I had six images to share with Three images of different subjects, one with an overall "warm" subject, one inside a thick grove of baby pine trees, and one of an overall "cool" subject These scenes were all taken on an overcast day with and without adjusting the color balance. I felt that the warm subject matter was a bit overextended and made too orange for my taste. The camera-only version is about the same size It appeared to be a bit too cool in the balanced photo. I would say somewhere right in the middle is perfect. This shot shows a swimming pool surrounded by a rock wall and plants - but the overall shot is cool - When we were without, it was too cool, when we were with, it was I wouldn't say one was better than the other in either of these cases. I found that the shady and green forest was quite different from the dry one. If the forest had not been colour balanced, it would have looked It was very green with little contrast. However, it was made significantly warmer with the color balance, but in an overall pleasing way. Greens had a lot more contrast, now that the camera displayed what the human eye actually saw. To be fair, the camera's image was probably closer to what the eye saw, but I still liked the balanced photograph much better. In conclusion, I believe this dome, along with a proper camera that does custom white balance, does what it's supposed to. However, only with experience can you determine whether or not what it does is appropriate for what you're attempting. Based on my limited testing, I have not found it has any different results from my gray cards, but the explanation of the dommed benefits makes a lot of sense, especially when taking a more in-depth look at them A close-up photo of a 3D object (i. e. Don't hesitate to purchase Do an experiment. I hope you have a great time. I wish you all the best with your.

In fact, a gray card with a curved edge is very Since a long time ago, 18% gray cards have been a useful tool for photographers
4/5

During the days of film, it was essential to account for the color shifts caused by artificial lighting if you were a studio photographer. Many photographers like to edit their images with photo editing programs to make their photos look the way they think they do. Digital cameras are usually more efficient at balancing light, yet they aren't perfect. There is a need for a neutral point of reference even with these, so the gray card is still useful. Photojournalist Gary Fong discovered that most surfaces are not flat, and light may come from a variety of angles. Thus, he arrived at a gray dome of 18%. In its small gray plastic bowl is a small water bottle. Gray tone is useful in color balancing tools since it has the right tone of gray. It is also much more manageable than most gray cards, as it is quite small. I did not get any instructions with mine. The website of Gary Fong informs me that it can be used in the same way as a gray card, but it has the advantage of being multidirectional. The light in my photo is natural light coming from one direction and incandescent light coming from the other. In a flat card, none of this would have been visible. The online teacher and photographer Gary Fong already had my attention as I was familiar with his accessories and teaching. It's good to know that this is made in the United States. There is a recyclable cardboard box included with it.

It has a neutral gray color and it is a dome
4/5

The software seems to work well, but is it necessary? I have color matched gray paint that I use to make my own gray cards so if they get lost or damaged I don't have to worry. If you shoot for any length of time, you know how valuable gray cards are. Here is a new challenge Describe the gray dome in your own words. There are several cool photo products that Gary Fong makes, and his ideas are probably stolen the most by others. I have a lot of matte gray cards that are not reflective, so light and color are uniform at any angle, no matter what angle I view it from. Quite a few dark spots and a lot of highlights are present with this dome In a way, it's semi-automatic A glossy surface is better than a matte one. To find out which spot is neutral, or to sample the entire thing and let your camera or software average it out, you need to know which spot is neutral. To get a grayscale that is accurate, I found it takes some practice. If the dome is in a studio setting or a space with a lot of light sources, the highlights will be more noticeable than the As far as I can tell, it cannot be used as easily as a gray card. I've watched several videos made by Fong about it. There is a suggestion that you sample the entire dome with your camera and let it handle the rest. For other software to work, you need to decide on what the best spot to click is. While it has a similar shape to his flash accessories, it is not designed for them to snap on. There is no gray version of these cards, but it is much bulkier than gray cards. This adds very little space to your collection if you already own Fong modifiers and diffusers. Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Take a chance and see what happens. It makes more sense for cameras to allow the operator to change the white balance Use a camera to take a color sample of the area and average it Click on the entire dome to go there. I believe many people will be at a loss due to the fact that you need to guess on the best spot to click when you need to pick a smaller spot on the dome later on.
