Questions & Answers

Is the Celestron 114EQ telescope compatible with this bag?

Yes, and there's plenty of room left over. With it, I also placed my tripod.

Will my Celestron Powerseeker 70EQ be able to fit into this case?

The Celestron 70 EQ, as far as I can tell, is essentially the same telescope as the Meade 70 mm Polaris, so it should fit without issue. The 80 mm Polaris refractor with equatorial mount is carried in my bag. It's a tight fit with the right ascension drive motor installed, but there's plenty of room for the optical tube, which is held in place by a sleeve with a Velcro band at the end. There's enough space for two 1-foot tall people. It comes in a gallon Ziploc bag with eyepieces, filters, and other items, so it's quite useful. Also, it's a good-looking, well-made bag.

Is this compatible with a 102mm Infinity telescope?

It should be possible to use the 102mm scope. My scope is 120mm, and I use it to transport it.

Is the Polaris 616001 70-degree polaris 70-degree polaris 70-degree polaris 70 Is a celestron astromaster 90az (1000mm focal length) telescope compatible with a 90mm bag? 900mm is the focal length of the polaris 90mm. ?

It's a good fit for my Celestine 130mm.

My Polaris 130 and I get along swimmingly
5/5

Because I live in a light-polluted area, while I can and do observe from my backyard, it's sometimes nice to load up the telescope and travel somewhere darker. While I could do it with just the telescope, it would be a lot easier if I had some sort of carrying bag. As a result, I have four carry bags for all of my telescopes. br>br>I had previously purchased an Infinity 60/70 carry bag for my father's Infinity 70 telescope, which was an incredibly tight fit that held the telescope, tripod, and nothing else (even the accessory tray wouldn't fit inside easily), so I was a little hesitant to purchase this one. I decided to give it a shot anyway, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. br>br>I'm not sure what the other reviewer meant when he said the bag was too small for his telescope and that he didn't put the counterweight in for fear of it rattling around and breaking something. Because my experience was so dissimilar, I'm wondering if he was accidentally sent the wrong bag. My Polaris 130 fits perfectly in the bag, which also has a secure zippered compartment for the counterweight. Instead of a tube sleeve like the Infinity 60/70 bag, the tripod is separated from the telescope tube by a padded divider. The bag zips up fine after I rotate the tube so the focuser isn't sticking straight up; a photo of the bag zipped is attached. There's a bulge where the focuser is, but it's easy to get around. br>br>My reviews are usually quite long because I feel compelled to explain how I fixed whatever was wrong or in need of improvement with the item, but I had no such issues with this bag. My only criticism is that it appears to be designed for a scope with a longer tube, as the tube tie down straps are spread too far apart to fit on both the 130 and the 127 (the 127 is even shorter, so it probably looks funny in the bag). They can't shorten the bag because the tripod straps are in logical places, but I would recommend that Meade have their supplier consider moving the straps closer together to better secure the tube. Because there isn't much padding in the bag, you must transport the telescope with caution. It does a good job of keeping everything together as well as keeping everything clean and dust-free, making storage a breeze. br>br>After some trial and error, I found that placing the tripod with the mount head on the opposite side of the counterweight pouch worked best for me in terms of weight distribution. I also align the scope tube with the mirror end facing away from the counterweight. This appears to maintain the bag's balance. There's a lot more room in the bag because the tube is so much smaller than the tripod. There's enough space for the accessory bag that comes with it, as well as another storage pouch or two. br>br>Since I was also frustrated that Amazon didn't have any photos of the inside of their bags so you could see the layout, I've attached a half-dozen photos showing how the scope fits in the bag. It has exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Effective for transporting and storing sensitive items with care
4/5

This bag was purchased for a Polaris 114 EQ-S that was an older model. In the late 1990's, I was given a D scope as a gift. I was primarily looking for a solution that would allow me to keep the scope clean while it was being stored. As a result, I am confident that this bag will perform admirably. br>br>Because the bag isn't very padded, don't expect it to be very effective for rough transport if you expect the scope to be knocked around. This is not a shipping case! If you are flying, don't even consider checking this bag. If you're only going to use it to transport your scope and tripod back and forth between your house and yard or vehicle, you should be fine. br>br>I've attached a few photos of how I was able to fit my scope and tripod in the bag, mostly in response to the reviewer who said they couldn't fit their equatorial mount in the bag while attached to the tripod. I had to try several times before I was able to comfortably fit the mount and tripod into the bag. The most important thing is to align the mount with the tripod at a 90-degree angle. The whips, as well as the counterweight and counterweight shaft, must be removed (the counterweight can be found inside the bag in a blue zippered pouch). br>br>Once again, the lack of padding is the only flaw I can find with this bag. It's a win in any case.

The bag is very sturdy, but it is not deep enough to hold fat optical tubes
4/5

The bag is well-made for a scope of this size. It's just a tad too small for the 127-inch screen. 130mm tube diameter (I found it difficult to fully zip up the bag, even though it holds the entire scope and its accessories). Even so, it's a fraction of the price of an Orion bag, and it's still a fantastic deal. It comes with velcro straps to secure your tripod and an accessory bag to hold the eyepieces and other accessories; however, I wouldn't put the counterweight in this bag with the other components for fear of it moving around and damaging the other components.

Carrying their boxes and backpacks around will make your friends feel embarrassed
5/5

When you unzip this bag, align your scope to the North Star, and be observing with a cup of coffee in hand in about 5-minutes, you'll look like the king hobbyist. Set up tripod with polar axis to Polaris, attach eyepiece tray, attach scope, attach counterweight and cables, attach finder, orient finder, dial in Polaris, dial in finder in 10 minutes while your friends are fumbling around in their cardboard boxes. The scope and accessories are well-protected by the bag, which separates the counterweight(s) in a padded compartment. I bought it for my Polaris 130 EQ and it fits perfectly. The scope and accessories are held in place in the bag by velcro straps. This bag holds the scope, tripod, counterweight, accessories, and an extra box for eyepieces, as well as a (medium) coffee thermos. The absence of padding is the only real drawback, but this is a bag, not a case. I'd deduct a half-star because you can't check this bag on an airplane with your scope in it, and you can't pack it with anything other than loose clothing. If you're going on a trip, I'd save the cardboard box your scope came in to use as padding. I'll give it a shot and report back as soon as I have more information.

The item was used and unpacked when it arrived
3/5

Although the product is functional and fits my Celestron AstroMaster 70AZ, it arrived unpackaged and in a used state. In the tears of the plastic the case was supposed to be inside, you could easily see the previous customer's fingernail markings. br>br>Unfortunately, this is becoming a less and less common occurrence on Amazon.
