Questions & Answers

Is this cable compatible with Windows 7? Is it possible to have only one channel of surround sound?

Digital audio can be handled by optical cable interfaces. 1 and 7. 1, but they have a smaller data-set (20-%) rate of transfer In comparison to HDMI's 10 megabits per second, 125 megabits per second is achieved. Only compressed audio, such as Dolby Digital, DTS, or two-channel audio, can be transmitted at 2 gigabits per second. PCM multi-channel HDMI, on the other hand, can deliver Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio without compression. MA signals in high definition

I'm looking for an optical digital audio cable to connect my surround sound system to my television or cable box. Is this something you can do?

This type of audio has two specifications. Coaxial and optical connections The optical terminal is flat on three sides and curved on the fourth; if your TV and cable box both have such inputs, this cable should work fine (although it is only 3 feet long, in my opinion). Coax inputs resemble RCA inputs (round) more than they do RCA inputs. If your digital connectors are coax, you won't be able to use this cable. Without seeing your setup, this is the best I can say!

I'd like to relocate a Verizon Fios modem and was wondering if this cord could be used for internet transmission. ?

Hello, would this work with a tivo premiere from an apple tv? Is it possible for me to use my tivo headphones?

Because all digital optical cables are the same, it will work if both devices have the appropriate output/input.

Much better than the stock option
4/5

The sound bar I purchased stated that "cables are included," implying that the company threw in the cheapest ones they had on hand. However, the length was the primary reason I purchased this cable. My application required a longer cable than the one that came with the sound bar. I didn't have high hopes because a cable can be just that. Well, this cable is a lot better than the one that came with the package. On the freebie, the shielding was thin and brittle. The BlueRigger's shielding was made of a much better material, and the cable was at least 3 times thicker. It claims to block RFI, and based on how thick it is, I'm sure it does so better than the stock one. I hadn't done much testing, but I recall a small amount of RFI noise that wasn't present with this cable. The BlueRigger's cable plugs outperform the stock ones as well. When I plugged in the cheap ones, they didn't have the snug, secure fit that these do. br>br>I'm sure there are far better optical cables on the market than these, but they do a great job for the money and I haven't had any problems with them. Also, don't be fooled by the "gold connectors" that some optical cables advertise. Connectors can (and do) make a big difference in wired audio cables, and gold connectors are more expensive. Because the audio signal travels through the connector, this is the case. When it comes to optical cables, the connector material makes no difference. Would you prefer a metal connector with sharp edges sliding into the optical port of your $2k television over plastic on plastic? I hope that this review has been beneficial.

You CANNOT RETURN IT IF IT DOESN'T WORK OR FIT
3/5

I believe it is a good product, but the cable's end (outer jack) is too wide, preventing the cable from reaching a fully seated position on the television. Because it would slide out, I had to force it into the TV and use tape to keep it in place. And, unfortunately, I was unaware that this item could not be returned.

BlueRigger cables have always performed well for me, and these Toslink cables are no different
5/5

I don't spend a lot of money on HDMI and TOslink cables and instead look for cables with a good price-to-value ratio. I look for good build quality and the best price-to-performance ratio to ensure that I don't buy cables that won't last or overpay for inferior performance. Most people are aware that cable companies are notorious for over-promising and under-delivering. Selling what you really need, and there are still people who believe that a good Toslink cable must cost $50. br>br>I usually buy Mediabridge, Amazon, and BlueRIgger for Toslink and HDMI and have had good luck with them. TWO Mediabridge Toslink cables, on the other hand, failed in the same way recently. The Amazon cables then appear to wear down on the connector to the point where they don't stay in the port for long periods of time, especially after being unplugged and plugged back in several times. br>br>For me, the BlueRigger came out on top - Over the same time period, these have worn the best, staying tight in the port over the long haul and never having a connector fail or crack like the Mediabridge. Furthermore, when I contacted Mediabridge to see if they would stand behind a product that was less than two years old, they refused to do so, citing their warranty as a reason. I'm going to buy Mediabridge for the last time. But this will not be my last purchase of BlueRigger - I'll buy their HDMI and Toslink cables again because of the excellent wear and performance I've experienced with them. br>br>Thank you for taking the time to read this.

This is a review of the BlueRigger Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable
4/5

Over the years, I've bought a lot of optical cables, starting with a $40 Monster cable in the middle of the decade. From the 1990s to about six years ago, I purchased Monoprice cables. I usually buy from Monoprice because they have good quality at a good price, but this BlueRigger optical cable performs just as well for $6. br>br>This is a nice-looking cable from an aesthetic standpoint. The cord material is sturdy, and the inner optical cable did not break even when wrapped around (it isn't designed to be bent in half, after all). Result-oriented In terms of functionality, these will function similarly to any other optical cable on the market. br>br>As a minor point, I would have preferred that dust covers had been included. These come with pull-off plastic plugs, but there's no way to attach them to the cable so you can keep them handy for unplugging them. The oval-shaped brand name logos on the cable's ends add a little extra grip, but when you can't see behind your equipment, it's difficult to tell which end is up because the logo is on both the top and bottom. It would have been preferable if there was only one logo, as this would have made it easier to plug in without having to pull the equipment all the way out. br>br>Overall, the cable has exceeded my expectations. The price was reasonable, the quality is excellent, and it outperforms any other optical cable I've ever used.

The 50-foot cable serves its purpose admirably
5/5

The run from the living room home entertainment system to my audio/computer room was installed as a SPDIF audio extension. br>Due to the nature of the race, I only just made it. At the destination, I ended up having to add a 9 foot/3 meter extension with a toslink coupler. The audio quality is excellent, with no dropouts, and it performs better than the old coaxial SPDIF run that this cable replaces. br>Both ends have well-made connectors that make a secure connection. I would suggest using masking tape to protect the connector on the fishing end of your run from damage or dirt getting into the connector as you crawl under the house with the cable. I use blue painter's masking tape because it's easy to remove and doesn't leave a mess.

My soundbar loves it
5/5

For my soundbar, it works perfectly. I first learned about the BlueRigger brand about two years ago, and I haven't looked back. I've previously purchased "Monster" brand cables, which were not only stiff and difficult to maneuver in tight spaces behind my electronics, but they were also extremely expensive. BlueRigger cables come with a lifetime warranty and are significantly less expensive; they are also CL3 rated for in-wall use, which is an added bonus. I have all of the cables I require for my home entertainment system, as well as extras. It was only half the price of "Monster. " Bluerigger comes out on top.
