Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
As you would with a graphite pencil, tilt the tip to artistically shade your drawings.
Like the eraser on a graphite pencil, the rubber eraser on the tail end rubs away your mistakes.
With precision ink on one end that allows for tilt1 and a natural-feeling rubber eraser on the other, this pen writes like a pen on paper.
With 4,096 pressure points that respond to the lightest touch, you can sketch, shade, and paint with greater artistic precision and control.
There is no lag or latency as the ink flows out in real time. The ink flows directly from the tip of your Pen to your screen, no matter how quickly you write or draw.

I'm not sure if I'm hoping for my Pro 3 to die on me so I can justify buying
5/5

To begin, I'm using a Surface Pro 3 tablet rather than the 2017 Pro. I'm not sure if I'm hoping for my Pro 3 to die on me so I can justify buying the latter. Until then, here's a review and subjective impressions of this 2017 pen on a late but excellent Surface model. br>br>I've been using the Pro 3 with the Pro 4 pen for quite some time, and I've been debating whether or not to upgrade to the 2017 Pen because of the $100 price difference. Following my fall for the lure, I have to suggest that fellow Surface Pro 3 users do the same (and with 200% confidence for users still using the Pro 3 Pen. What have you been up to since you graduated from high school? The main reason is because of the lower initial activation force (IAF). I remember reading conflicting reports and reviews on Reddit about whether the Surface Pro 3 and 4 would support the IAF improvements before I bit the bullet. Now that I've sold my old pen, I can't do the objective testing, but I can tell you that my writing has become noticeably more precise and consistent, which a lower IAF would almost certainly result in. br>br>More concrete examples of progress:
- I set the pressure sensitivity on the Pro 4 pen to a 10 or 11 to account for the many skips in handwriting I'd get when scribbling notes quickly. As a result, there was a lot of over-production. Lines and curves that are pressed and unwanted are carried over. My pressure setting on the 2017 Pen is anywhere from 4 to 8 psi. There are no skips in this number, so it's perfect. br>br>There are a few caveats: I'm a note-taker who works a lot. I can comment on writing and doodling, but not on drawing, shading, or other'real' artistic endeavors. Furthermore, improvements are more noticeable in Onenote and Sketchable than in other apps (e. g. , Evernote). , Xodo, Xodo, Xodo, Xodo, Xo I also scribble very quickly, which could explain why the IAF improvements were so noticeable to me. If you're a regular person who writes at a snail's pace, Perhaps the differences will be less noticeable at 80 mph?

- I had to use the 2H nil-point pen with the Pro 4 pen. Because my handwriting looked the best (albeit with occasional under-penciling), I used a friction nib. recognition and over-recognition The above-mentioned issues with pressurization). However, I can still use the standard HB pen with the 2017 Pen because the pen's performance is good enough to compensate. Now I can enjoy the slight friction across the screen, which is more akin to a real note-taking experience. taking. br>br>Here are some more reasons why I prefer this new pen:
- The pen's magnet is far more powerful. My pen sticks to my Surface well enough that I can now walk around with it tucked under my arm.
- The obnoxious video is no longer available. It was something I'd never used before, and it was causing me problems. However, you might have the polar opposite reaction to this. br>br>It's worth noting that the Surface Pro 3 (or 4) does not have the advertised improved sensitivity levels! Microsoft promised a firmware update for older Surface Pros that would include tilt support, but no specific release date has been set. br>br>Here are a few more details you might be interested in:
- The Surface Pro 3 Pen (20g) has the same weight.
- There is only one nib included (the HB one). I almost want to deduct a star for this, because not including the pack of pen nibs (as the Surface Pro 4 pens did) is such a cheapskate move, especially since the HB rubbery tip WILL wear down. That is something I can assure you of.
- If you haven't done so already, go to the Microsoft Store and download the Surface app. The [annoying] Windows button can be turned off and the pen pressure sensitivity can be adjusted.
- I could almost use this pen and my old Pro 3 pen at the same time. Each one was instantly recognizable as soon as I placed it on the screen. After all, it's possible that this fact is completely useless.
- The following tips for improving pen precision and performance were found on various Reddit threads, and I have found them to be extremely useful (I made sure to adjust these after using the 2017 Pen for the first time). 2 weeks (in order to avoid confounding): 1) Open the control panel - > settings for the mouse > The Pointer Options tab is where you can change the settings for your pointer. > Remove the check mark from the box that says "enhance pointer precision. " br>2) A control panel is a device that allows you to change the settings on your computer. > Settings for the pen and touch. - Go to the Pen Options tab and select - > go to the settings for pressing and holding - > uncheck "enable right-click and hold for right-click and hold for right-click and hold for right-click and hold for box by clicking - Go to the Flicks tab and then to the Movies tab. > "Use flicks to perform" should be turned off. " box. br>br>If you're wondering why, don't ask me. Simply take action. br>br>I hope this review is helpful to anyone who is using the Surface Pro 3! br>br>UPDATE FOR 2018: Even though I still enjoy using my Surface Pen, the Apple Pencil outperforms it in terms of note-taking and drawing. for the purpose of taking and drawing Please see the new handwriting comparison sample that I just uploaded. When I'm scribbling quickly, the differences become even more apparent. br>br>(Amazon uploads images in an odd way, so the handwriting sample I uploaded may require a lot of zooming in. ).

Imitators can't compare to you
5/5

I first bought the Surface Pen from Bamboo, which claimed to have all of the same features as the Microsoft version. It was a blunder on my part. The Microsoft pen is far superior in terms of writing, feel, accuracy, and ability to stick to the side of my Surface Book Pro using a magnet. To get this right, it's worth paying a little more than generics.

The best Surface Pen of all time
5/5

In the last six years, I've done three (older models) - Every generation improves upon the previous one. The "double-edged sword" is one of my favorite phrases. Click" to take a screenshot of anything on the screen, then write, underline, and highlight it. Anything. I've used it to jot down notes in meetings, and it then syncs with my One Drive, allowing me to access them from anywhere, including my Android phone. It's a fantastic pen, and I especially like the fact that the "eraser" actually erases. It's a versatile tool that I've used to design dresses and edit documents.

COMPATIBLE IS AN EXTREMELY STRONG WORD
3/5

I received the item earlier than anticipated today. Unfortunately, that is the transaction's SINGLE BRIGHT SPOT. There was no mention of non-alcoholic beverages on the product page. Compatibility with the Surface GO is a big plus. In fact, I found that it WAS compatible everywhere I looked. As a result, I jumped right in and decided to buy it. Because the previous "Microsoft certified" pen I had purchased was no longer working, I decided to go the OEM route and be done with it. I read the instructions and jumped right in when I got the pen today. Right away, I encountered a problem. You should be able to pair the pen with the screen by pressing it against it for about 10 seconds. 10 - 15 Sec's. This did not work for me when I tried it. So I went the manual route, and the pen and I were able to pair without issue. Except for the fact that it wouldn't write on anything or use any app, everything about the pen worked and functioned perfectly. So I went to Microsoft to troubleshoot the problem. After going through several steps, I "accidentally" came across this: "This pen is incompatible with the Surface Laptop Go!" THE REFUND PROCESS HAS BEGUN. br>Lesson to be learned: Always conduct research and double-check information from multiple sources to avoid appearing as a fool like me.

Increases the utility of the surface
5/5

The Platinum Surface Pen in use with a Surface 2017 model is the subject of this review. br>br>In practice, the official Surface Pen has performed admirably. My only issue with the hardware was that it did not pair automatically with my Surface as the enclosed instructions stated it would. It is comfortable in my hand, feels natural against the touch screen, writes without lag, has flawless palm rejection, and attaches firmly to the magnetized side of the device. I'm not an expert, but I'm familiar with technology and was able to pair it manually in a matter of seconds. Because I believe my experience was unusual, I did not deduct any stars for it. br>br>Although I mostly use my Surface as a laptop with the Type Cover, adding the Surface Pen greatly expands its capabilities. I can be more precise with the pen's mouse buttons than with the track pad or a conventional mouse when precision mousing is required, such as in photo editing or when using OneNote's drawing tools to create a garden plan. I can open a OneNote page with one click thanks to the programmable eraser button, even if I'm in the middle of doing something else on my computer, and quickly jot something down without hunting for pen and paper. I'm not an artist, but I've dabbled in drawing apps that allow for direct on-screen drawing. screen inking, as well as the more traditional type of program that would be used with a graphics pad and stylus In my non-profit work, I In our opinion, the Surface Pen would be an invaluable tool for any true digital artist. br>br>Finally, a budget-friendly tip: The most affordable color option is the platinum pen, which matches the Surface's metal casing. It won't match your Type Cover, but it also won't be incompatible with it. So, unless you're looking to make a fashion statement, go for the platinum model to save some money.
