This is my second Joby Gorillapod, and both of them have cracked at the main joint after only a week of light use. I thought it was a smaller version of the 1k kit tripod, but they are identical in size and weight (2. 2 lbs). As a result, I chose to keep this tripod instead of returning my $1000 kit. The quick release mount, the bubble level, and the fact that it comes with a gopro mount (you can never have too many of those) and a standard screw mount are all reasons to keep this one. Keep a coin in your pocket when using the standard screw mount to tighten it. It can easily support the weight of a gopro camera, microphone adapter, case, and mic. It can also hold my Galaxy S9 Plus and microphone in the otterbox defender case without issue. It also supports my entry-level dslr, a nikon d3500, which was a pleasant surprise; however, if you have a larger camera, you might want to consider the 3k kit. For reference, I've attached photos showing the total length of the tripod when closed, the total length of the legs, and the maximum height with the legs extended. Overall, this is a great all-around tripod, and I would recommend it over the basic 1k kit if you plan on using a gopro.

You've come to the right place if you're looking for a GoPro tripod. This JOBY mini tripod was exactly what I needed, and it will most likely work for you as well. It's crazy how versatile this tripod is. I can use it as is, hang it from a chandelier, or tie it to a tree branch. There are a plethora of mounting options available. I trust my GoPro to be used in situations I would not have considered without this tripod as part of the setup because the legs are so bendable and the construction is so sturdy. The bubble level and GoPro mounting mechanism are two of my favorite features, aside from the tripod's physical flexibility. No matter where you set up the tripod, the level makes it simple to get the perfect shot without guessing. The mounting mechanism is one that you attach to the GoPro away from the tripod and then slide into the tripod's bracket when you're ready to use it. This is much better than the types of devices that require you to screw the GoPro in place before using it and then unscrew to remove it when you're done. Because of how this is done, I can remove the GoPro from the tripod with the touch of a button and replace it in a flash, giving me a lot of flexibility when filming. br>br>The lack of a lever for swiveling the head when using it for video panning is my only complaint with this tripod. You can do it with the knob on the side of the tripod, but it's not as fluid as I'd like, and I'm not sure why it wasn't included. A lever would have made this a better feature (JOBY makes something similar with their iPhone video tripod), and I'm not sure why it wasn't included. br>br>I'm glad I bought this tripod; it's a great addition to my GoPro camera.
