Questions & Answers

Is it possible to rewrite the contents of these DVDs? The case says "write once," but the description says "write once." ?

No, they can't be rewritten. In this case, RW stands for read-write. You can read from them and write to them if you know how to write. DVD R is the designation for this item. They'll be rewriteable if they're marked DVD RW. The RW must be included in the disc description. Ex. CD- RW, CD RW, and DVD-RW All rewriteable discs are denoted by the letters RW, such as DVD RW.

What is the difference between being "Branded" and not being "Branded"?

Verbatim does not make their own CDs or DVDs. They also, as far as I'm aware, use two different manufacturers. Mitsubishi is the manufacturer of the superior quality Verbatim AZO discs, which should be the item on this page. CMC Magnetics produces the Verbatim DataLifePlus/DataLife Series, which is a lower-quality product. Verbatim does not manufacture either of these types of discs. Most CD/DVD/BD recordable disc manufacturers engage in this practice.

The DVDs from the Verbatim Life Series are said to be of lower quality and reliability. I'm not interested in watching a series about my life. Is this a set of DVDs from the Life series?

I don't recall them having "Life Series" on the label, so I'm not sure, but I used them all without issue THEY WERE FLAWLESS!

What color are the discs' backsides? As an example, the side that you would not write on or label. Thanks! ?

In fact, the backs of DVDs and CDs are nearly transparent. The backside of the Label area is what you're looking at. The data is on the back of the label, not on the back of the label. This is why a ball should never be used. NEVER scratch or damage the label side of the media by using a point pen on the label. You're up against a challenge. Scratch through the label of an old CD/DVD with a sharp object. The opposite side of the DVD will be visible, and light will pass through it. Items placed close to the scratched off area can almost be seen. The disk, however, is now ruined as a result of this.

It Was Sold Exactly As Written - Falcon Premium is a better option
4/5

November 2019 update: The rights to Verbatim were recently sold. As they wound down their business model in the last two years, I, like others, have experienced quality issues. They are still superior to the majority of the major brands, but they are no longer as good as they once were. br>These days, I use and recommend Falcon Premium dvd-recording software. The Pro, the Dupliline, and the Basic are all unavailable. Make sure to get the Premium line. br>The Falcon brand discs have given me excellent results. They cost a little more, but they're well worth it. Falcon is most likely the last manufacturer of high-quality optical discs. They're on par with old Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs in terms of quality. Old Review: br>br> br>These are the best DVD-Rs currently available. Still of top-notch quality. These discs are unrivaled in terms of accuracy, reflectivity, compatibility, and longevity. I've only had a couple of bad discs over the years. These days, they all appear to be manufactured in Taiwan, which is currently the world's highest-quality optical media factory. It's been years since I've had a coaster. I have a number of these discs that are 11 to 14 years old and show little to no signs of wear. All of them work fine, and they all scan either the same as they did when they were made or with a very small increase in easily corrected errors. In fact, when they're brand new, they scan better than most other manufacturers' discs, and I expect them to last for decades. Simply keep them indoors, out of direct sunlight, and away from heat or air conditioning vents. Don't be concerned about M-prices being too high. Discs and gold discs (both of which have compatibility issues) last a long time, so make sure your dvd drive isn't on its last legs. Over the years, I've discovered that using a burner for an extended period of time is the biggest issue. I've made the mistake of thinking I had bad discs when it was actually my drive that was failing to burn properly. The lasers in DVD drives deteriorate over time, and I've discovered that this is just as important as disc quality in producing good discs. DVD R has always been superior to - in my opinion. R, despite the fact that some argue that there is no difference. R has a better error correction system and, in my experience, has fewer issues. Also, these branded ones should be purchased rather than the 8x Datalife Plus ones. These are produced in a smaller facility in China, and Verbatim has a history of producing much better 16x media than 8x media. br>The only other discs that came close to matching these were the Taiyo Yuden discs from Japan. Verbatim now has no competition due to the closure of that facility.

What happened to the standard of living? I've purchased these 26 times in the past, and I just purchased them again, and every single disc is defective
3/5

Verification fails only rarely when I have bad burns from the start or even if I get the entire disc to burn. What happened to the standard of living? or - is a term I've used. whichever is less expensive, but the DVD R's quality has suffered significantly as a result of this experience. Bad things happened one after the other. I sincerely hope that this is not the way verbatim will be in the future. I recently placed an order for a hundred - I'm hoping R, which I've ordered 37 times before, hasn't gone the same way. The discs have gone bad since Verbatim was sold. Buying a hundred and having to put them in over and over again, resulting in severe burns, is a pain.

The end result was disastrous
3/5

I'm unsure if the items I purchased were fakes. In my experience, Verbatim has been nearly impenetrable in terms of dependability. Other than Taiyo Yuden, I haven't found a media manufacturer in whom I have as much faith. These discs, on the other hand, have been terrible. In a VHS-compatible VCR, I'm about halfway through the spindle. I've had trouble copying the files from three of the 40 discs in my ripping project. In three different drives, one of the three was partially unreadable, so I had to re-write it. the tape should be ripped I made use of a 50-watt light source. Without making a single mistake, the spindle of TDK discs was used in the same process. br>br>I have a strong suspicion that the discs I received were counterfeit, but it's also possible that I just received my first "bad batch" from Verbatim. If I had the option, I would give these less than one star. Nothing is more frustrating than thinking you have a copy of something only to discover later that the disc you have is defective.

It used to be my "go to," but it's no longer the case; probably half of the items are coasters
3/5

I've been using Verbatim for years as my 20'go to' for data backups. The most recent box of 100 I purchased has resulted in probably 50% coasters, and yes I am using slower burn speeds. I've also noticed that a lot of discs have a rough / non-smooth surface. I've never seen a CD with such a smooth texture around the edges. Rs, it appears to be a production problem. I didn't burn through a bunch of them right away, and the "return" window closed before I realized how wonky they are, because I bought them just to have around for backups. According to what I've read, CMC Magnetics bought Verbatim and is clearly not upholding Verbatim's quality control standards. I guess it's Taiyo Yuden or bust now for those of us who still rely on reliable discs for data backup.

Drink coasters are a great idea! I'm serious
3/5

I've purchased a number of these 100-piece sets. Amazon sells disc spindles. But there was a problem with this spindle, which I purchased on April 9, 2018. I'd inserted a new disc into my recorder, and after a while, a message stating that the DVD had been un-authorized appeared on the screen. It would sometimes say 'invalid media' if the device was recordable. I used to be able to tinker around with the machine, such as de-clogging it. reconnecting the AC power and restarting the computer results in a previously unusable computer. I'd like to record a recordable dis, but I'd have to repeat the pop-up. I realized I was having this problem with the entire spindle, and it wasn't just on my stand-alone DVD video recorder, when I tried to add another video to the same disc or when I tried to finalize; after a while, I realized I was having this problem with the entire spindle, and it wasn't just on my stand-alone DVD video recorder. I noticed this on my computers as well, because I occasionally had large download files to transfer to DVD (i. e. Distributions of Linux). So I went out and bought a new spindle, one that was slightly different so I wouldn't get any more of these, and things returned to normal. a difficult task.
