Questions & Answers

Is it two mast supports or three (as shown)?

It arrived exactly as described, and it was also simple to assemble.

When the legs are fully extended, how wide are they? Is there any way to find out what the weight load rating is? Thanks?

I had the same question, but now that I have it, I am unable to respond to it. The circumference of the circle is about 43" because the centers of the feet are about 37" apart. There's no way of knowing what the load rating is.

It could use a little work
3/5

These were purchased in pairs. Before you put it together, drill out the rivets and replace them with 1/4" stainless nuts, bolts, and washers to save yourself some time. Replace the 5/16" bolts and nuts that clamp the mast with stainless bolts and nuts. That way, you won't be up on the roof later trying to repair the rivets, and your mast won't be clamped by rusted bolts/nuts. br>br>They are NOT 5 feet tall, but rather 57". br>br>Masts with an outside diameter of two inches will fit. Some say it won't fit because they're using something like pipe (a 2" galvanized pipe, for example, is actually a 2" galvanized pipe). Don't try to use something with a 375" outside diameter.

The combination of a 5' tripod and a 6' pole makes for an excellent antenna mount
5/5

This was purchased to house an AMY-series Ubiquiti wireless access point. For a PTP bridge to a friend's house 7 miles away, I used a 9M16 AirMax Yagi Antenna. The feet on this tripod appear to be in an odd position in the Amazon photos, but they all three swivel perfectly for any angled roof, which I was delighted to discover. On Amazon, I also purchased a pitch pad/lag bolt kit for this project. Because the yagi juts out 4 feet from the pole, I was concerned about it bouncing or swaying, but with this tripod, it is rock solid. It's made of heavy gauge metal, about the same thickness as a chain link fence pole. This mount is completely stationary after I tightened the triple screws on each of the three levels. br>br>Gotta go to Home Depot and get a 6' Line Post (chain link fence stuff) for $1. It was less than $10 and fit perfectly in this tripod with a 5/8" diameter. I believe the distance between where it mounts to my roof and the antenna is almost ten feet. br>br>Exactly what I was looking for at a very low price.

Good quality—but it could be better with a few tweaks
5/5

I was concerned about the feet being defective after reading some reviews, but the item I received did not appear to be defective! Advantages: br>br>
- Legs appear to be galvanized and are made of sturdy steel.
- All hardware is included, with the exception of the feet mounting hardware.
- Folding is simple. up and out
- Slanted roof mounting is possible because all of the feet point in the same direction.
- A strong mast structure is made up of two sets of supports (three points of mast contact).
- Two mast mounting options are available thanks to a removable metal cup on the bottom center support.
- For added security, three bolts/screws can be drilled into the feet.
- Except for the legs, all of the hardware appears to be coated in Yellow Zinc Chromate. br>**Please see below for an important note about the included hardware*
br>Cons:
- Rivets that secure the supports to the legs and the center cup to the supports appear flimsy and cheap.
- There's not much else to say! br>br>In order to counteract the weak-willedness of the weak-willedness of the weak-willedness Another reviewer suggested drilling out the rivets and replacing them with bolts because they appeared to be rusted. That's exactly what I did, using a 1/4" drill bit and 1/4"-sized rivets to drill out the center support rivets. In their place are 20 x 2" Grade 8 bolts, washers, and locknuts. Grade 8 is overkill; Grade 5 or 3 would suffice; however, I have a lot of Grade 8 in my shop. (The Grade 8 is also coated with Yellow Zinc Chromate, ensuring that everything matches. ) ) I'm thinking about drilling out the leg rivets and replacing them as well, but we'll see. br>br>This modification is not recommended for a temporary or installation that will be set up and taken down frequently. Having to loosen all of that hardware would be a pain! But, because I intend to permanently install this in the ground, I'll need every ounce of strength I can muster. br>br>**Note on the hardware that comes with the package: Despite the fact that it is yellow zinc chromate coated, it is NOT Grade 8 as indicated by the three-digit code. bolt heads (Grade 5) have lines on them. I'm guessing the nuts are also Grade 5, so don't mix them up with your Grade 8 hardware—it's easy to do because Grade 5 hardware isn't usually Yellow Zinc Chromate plated.

As an amateur radio operator (HAM), Despite the fact that it was advertised as new, there were obvious signs of previous use, the most notable of which was the lower bracket being bent where the bolts feed through the holes
4/5

Because of the angle the base bolts come in when tightened, it doesn't provide full support at the base, but it still allows for almost no movement. in between For my needs, the top support brackets provide more than enough support. I'm glad I chose this tripod out of all the others I looked at because it's the right height. The overall build quality is excellent for erecting tall masts. Antennas that are extremely tall and heavy.

It's nearly there
3/5

Because of the bad angle to one foot, it can't be used on a regular roof (though it would work fine on a flat roof). All three feet must be pointing in the same direction. I'm going to have to return it. br>br>I purchased another of these 5' Skywalker tripods from a different company, and it had the same issue. Aside from that, I liked it because it appears to be well-made and durable. Because I had to pay to return it, I decided to try Amazon this time in the hopes of receiving a free return if I received another defective tripod. br>br>Advantagesbr>- Between the legs, there are two sets of support brackets.
- All of the legs and brackets are made of heavy gauge metal and appear to be plated, so they should be rust-resistant.
- To keep the antenna pole from rotating, there are three sets of bolts. - br>br>Conbr> - br>br>Conbr> - br>br>Conbr> The foot of one leg does not match the other. As a result, that foot will not be able to sit flat on a slanted roof. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> br>I gave Amazon another shot. It arrived quickly; it began returning on December 12th and arrived two hours later on December 16th. However, it suffers from the same poor foot angle as the others. Isn't it possible that they're all bad at this point? I'm not going to bother with Skywalker any longer. I'll have to look for a different brand to try. br>br>Amazon finally issued a refund on my credit card on 1/21/2020.

This antenna stand is the baddest of them all
5/5

Sure, it's hefty. The mast is held in place by three collars, one of which has a plate that fits on the bottom of the lowest collar for the mast to rest against. It has made me very happy.

Heavy-duty, high-quality, and simple to put together
5/5

The product was delivered promptly. Setup is a breeze. I'm using it to support a personal weather station, but I don't see any problems with using it for its intended purpose as an antenna support.

It's perfect for a 90 cm dish that's 6 feet up in the air
5/5

A 90 cm motorized dish is mounted in the garden on concrete slabs. br>Pole has a diameter of 2 inches and is 6 feet long (not included). Despite its height, it has a very small wobble in the wind. br>It is highly recommended.
