With over the air tv and Roku streaming, we have recently gotten rid of cable. As I was switching between the two, it was annoying to have to use the TV remote and the Roku remote at the same time. A second complaint I heard from both my husband and myself is that the roku remote does not have a page up or down button. Playstation Vue is the live TV streaming service we use. The TV guide used to require us to scroll through the channels one at a time, but with this remote we can control both our LG tv and our Roku with just one remote and when browsing the TV guide, click forward to page down and backward to move forward to the next page. I could scroll through channels easily, as opposed to one channel at a time.
I was considering other remotes which were more expensive but thought I'd give this one a shot. The price of $11 was very reasonable to me. In the remote are instructions on how to pair the Roku with your TV as well as codes to input to program the device. My computer was up and running within minutes of turning on the computer. According to the instructions, programming the TV via the codes is recommended, so I entered a few codes and had no luck, until I noticed in the instructions how to auto program - I did that and it worked! I was impressed by its effectiveness. I am not sure why automatic programs don't appear first.

The complaints are not there. When I first looked for the "Automatic Code", the manual was a little difficult to read, but it wasn't far off the mark once I read it. In general, I would ignore the list of codes and try the Automatic Code function first. By following the Automatic Code function instructions, the remote will send out 10 generic codes to attempt to connect to your device. If that does not work, then you can try the rest of the options.

However, they are only good for 7 feet, which is simply not It bothers me that these remote control manufacturers make their aftermarket remotes so weak my Original Roku remote works clear across the room, where this one requires you to be within 3 to 5 feet of the TV while the Roku must be in direct line of sight for it to even work. I'm sure I'll find a remote that works as well as the original one one day.

We were able to set this up and use it fairly easily. Having found some buttons on it that were different from some of the device remotes, it did take a bit of experimentation to figure out how to use them. Using it was easy for DirecTV, Visio TV and a host of other things We put together a Philips DVD/VHS player, a Sound Bar, and a Streaming device. For the very first time, I can use only one remote control 99% of the time. I originally bought it to replace the burned out one for my Philips DVD/VHS player, but it has allowed me to combine functions for 5 uses that I was never able to set up before.

The Roku Ultras I have are located on 4 TVs. As those Ultra TVs are in different locations, I have a mixture of TVs, sound bars, A/V receivers, etc. , so I wanted my viewing life to be unified by using one remote for the same AV receiver. Although I was able to receive TV and sound in all four locales on this particular device, its overall functional failure is that it may be unsuitable for use with Roku Ultra. In the Roku code marketplace, there are three "codes," but none of them include functionality for two Roku "buttons" - circular back buttons and asterisk icons. There may be a code found somewhere that enables these Philips functions, but if so, I have not found it on the Ultra. If so, may be it works fine on other models (I only have the Ultras). I am giving this remote 2 stars for its overall functionality, but I'm considering it as a pre-owned accessory The programming for Roku implied in my book implies it offers all the functionality of Roku (I get it, it doesn't offer voice search or the headphone jack, but the enhanced does), and that's not true.

It's awesome to have this remote! This remote was designed for my Samsung TV, Samsung Blue Ray DVD Player, and Vizio Sound Bar. Worked like a charm for me. You need to play with the TV for a while to figure out which buttons function with the TV functions, but once you get used to it, you will find a button that works. There is no big deal here. The volume control allows you to raise, lower, and muffle the sound without needing to set a different controller or to use AUX input, which has been a dream come true for me. Streaming interfaces like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu find the app to be very helpful. I spent a long time looking for a back button on these interfaces, but the A button is the easiest to use. As an alternative to the other remotes (which I no longer use) I bought two new Philips remotes that proved superior to the other two. Philips deserves credit for this achievement!.

Before a few weeks ago, I was using just one Sony remote (that came with my sound bar) to control my TV, Sound Bar, and Blu-ray player I have an Amazon Fire TV and a Roku device. I needed to use separate remotes for each when I upgraded my Sound Bar, but the new one was not universal, so I had to go back to using separate remotes. The universal I needed was here! It was my main concern with my ROKU since it was a "point anywhere" remote, but it turns out the ROKU 3 unit can either accept "point anywhere" or IR control. With this remote, I am able to access all of my Sony equipment as well as the ROKU 3. I just have to aim it directly at the box. One reason I chose this over the popular GE is that it's more intuitive to use (there was no "streaming" button on the other one), and the buttons are purple instead of orange so that it makes a more obvious choice. The back button is not available! This may still require you to use your ROKU remote heavily if you rely heavily on it. There is a slight difference in quality between the remote and the receiver, but as described above, what do you expect for the price? It seems to be working just fine!.
