The control unit on the kit is identical to that found on Sewell's BlastIR IR blaster. My IR receiver is attached via CAT6 cable to my Sewell keystone jack - I'm using it using this receiver. These two are perfect for each other. A 12V power supply is definitely not one of those USB chargers, since it is a regular AC adapter. Using a cat5 cable, the length of the cable can be extended. I find it very helpful. The cat5 cable was used for extending wiring length and all is working perfectly. I wasn't able to find the cable box, which was really nice.
