That's something I am unable to answer, and I apologize. I have discarded the CD jewel cases and place the CDs in individual paper sleeves, which allows us to store more CDs. With the CDs in their paper sleeves, I can fit about 110 CDs into each cage, but with CDs in their sleeves, I can only fit about 80. Besides being easier to browse if they are loosely packed together, I also like the way the selections appear without overcrowding. It is my hope that this helped even in a small way.
I'm sorry, but the top measurement is just a hair under 5 inches There are 7 inches in a 1-inch case, while a standard DVD case is just slightly over 5. This will not fit in a DVD case because it is about 1/8" too small. It also wouldn't be quite long-enough to fit two DVD cases side by side. However, you can lay the DVD case on its longest side so you can fit a few DVD cases (about 5" thick) in it.

It is not possible to stack them. It is a good weight and size for me. Despite being made of sturdy materials, they should last a long time. Labels on CDs and DVDs can easily be read There is only one thing that would have improved the product - if the product were a little taller so that it could be stacked. Obviously, each additional box will sit on top of the others, but there are no grooves in which it can be inserted. The plastic boxes I could have bought at Walmart would have cost less than $4 each, but they wouldn't be nearly as attractive. They also would not fit the oversized digipack CDs you may have.
I chose to keep some essential CDs in this basket. It is just the right size and shape for keeping CDs nearby. For the most part, I use these to store general kitchen supplies. The doors can be closed and the shelves fit on a cabinet shelf. Those pouches do a good job of storing loose items like coffee filters and drink packets. There isn't enough room in my kitchen for a spice rack, so I keep everything in one case, so nothing falls over or gets pushed to the bottom. Also, the mesh allows me to see what lies inside, so I'm sure they're fine to use with.

These look nice but aren't good CD storage cases. interior of the basket bows a bit, so it is difficult to get CDs out again. You can lodge CDs inside, but the basket isn't large enough to accommodate them. I returned them since I was not satisfied with.
