Questions & Answers

Are ads limited to the lock screen or do they appear at any time while using an app?

I've owned at least six Kindle Fires with ads, three of which were HD 10. This is the most recent one that I have as well. I would never have noticed any ads if it hadn't been stated in the description. They're only on the lock screen, which is the first screen you see after turning on the Fire, and that's it. There aren't any more to be found anywhere. There isn't any pop-up advertising. up ads. The vast majority of the time, if you asked me what the ads were when I turned on the Fire before unlocking the screen, I would be unable to tell you. Get the Fire without ads to save some money!

Google Play Store isn't supported, according to the description. Is this to say that Amazon forbids it from running or that they simply do not support it?

I've had or given three Amazon Fires, starting with the original HD 8 and progressing through two versions, the most recent of which is the HD 10. Because I wasn't paying attention, side loading Google Play Store to load Chrome took me DAYS the first time, and only 15 minutes the last time. There are plenty of instructions on the Internet, but if you can find someone who has done it before, do so. I require the Chrome browser, and while Silk, the Fire browser, is adequate, I am able to access Chrome.

I'd like to exchange my old kindle for a credit toward this new one. I'd like to keep using my old one until I get my new one. Is it possible to combine a trade in dollars and a savings account?

Yes, you can technically use your old device until your new one arrives as long as you order it as soon as possible. You answer some questions about your old device, and they offer you money based on your answers, but the amount could change later if you misrepresented the condition of the device. If the device differs from what you told them, it will tell you how much you'll get as an adjusted amount. The original amount is credited to your account and you can use that along with the 20% discount on another amazon device immediately, and you have like 30 days to send in your%

I already own the previous 10" tablet, so is the new one worthwhile?

My charging port was acting up, so I ponyed up and bought the new version for that reason. Despite the fact that it continues to charge, it will be my third screen after this one. It's my third Amazon Fire tablet, and I've been pleased with it so far. My previous one worked fine for about three years, and I still have the previous one, which is still working fine; I literally leave my TV in my living room, and when I get home from work, I turn on my tablet, and on Sundays, I turn on the TV for gaming. This is going to be a feature film. For the other, it's a no-go zone. as well as a spare Alternatively, you could just sit in bed with one for movies and the other for streaming. this one. For the red zone, the second place is awarded. as well as the third for NJPW. To put it another way, it's a good investment. especially with a 30 dollar monthly payment plan! I'm not a big fan of Amazon, but their tablets are fantastic, and I say that as a Samsung fan.

There are simply too many problems (does it get two or one star?)
3/5

My older Fire Tablet was traded in for this newer model. The older one was used to watch movies that I had on SD cards. When I first got the new tablet, it wouldn't recognize any of my SD movies. The files were in the MP4 format. So I dialed customer service and was greeted by a barrage of inept agents who claimed to "know" but didn't. They required me to perform a factory reset, which erased all of my previous tablet's data. That had no effect, and the problem remained the same. I was told by the next agent that I could only use one of two "approved" SD cards, which I knew was false after speaking with a later agent. Then I get an email from an unknown customer service representative stating that the SD cards must be formatted as FAT32 rather than exFat32, which contradicts the tablet's help files. So it went on and on with numerous calls from 9 a. m. to late at night with some "pretending" to be advanced Tech support but who had no idea about formatting in FAT32 or other formats. One of the people who was supposed to call back in 20 minutes failed to do so. When I asked what country they were calling from (due to the time zone difference), one of them said that was rude and hung up. br>br>Now I've discovered it's supposed to be a Generation 11 2021 tablet, but it says Gen 10 in the "about Tablet" section of the Settings. You also can't use the "Play Store" and must instead use their App Store, which is proprietary, just like computers were 40 years ago. It's also not a genuine Android device. Overall, unless you're only interested in Amazon shopping and watching Prime videos, this tablet isn't worth the trouble. I'll return it unless a supervisor "supposes" to call me back on June 2 (three days) to see if the MP4 SD issue has been resolved. I've got seventeen. On my previous Fire Tablet, I had 32 GB SD cards with 30 movies on each (510) that I had been watching. I'll be damned if I'm going to save all of those, reformat the disk, and reinstall them for a shoddy new Fire tablet with even worse customer service. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> The supervisor, on the other hand, has never called me. So I called and got another"Expert" who had done exactly what the others had done and was going to send me another tablet until I read the reviews and saw that others had had the same problems: you can't use this tablet unless you format the SD card in their machine and then transfer whatever you want to put on it. br>br>At this point, I'd like to return my "Gift Card" that I used to place this order. So they want to keep my old table and my gift card, and I'm going to have to drive 35 miles to return this filthy table. THE AMAZON CON CAN BE FOUND HERE. THEY DID AN "UPDATE," CHANGING THE WORDS "GENERATION 10" TO "TABLET 10 (11TH GENERATION), AND NOW THEY WANT TO KEEP MY OLD TABLET AND THE $30 CREDIT FOR SENDING IT IN.

There will be no deal if there is no Google
3/5

It can't be used in any way. It refuses to let you download any Google apps and insists on forcing you to use its "amazon" apps, which you can't remove from your home screen. This isn't an "Android" tablet by any stretch of the imagination. It's an "Amazon" tablet, as the name implies. It's just as incompatible with other Android devices as Apple is with iOS devices. I got it and returned it the same day.

The SSID broadcast bug has been fixed, but the Blue shade has been ruined
3/5

Edit: It got a lot worse. My favorite feature, the blue shade, has been ruinedbr>br>Yes, it has been ruined. The new Fire HD 10 will only connect to my WiFi if I have SSID broadcast enabled, regardless of which channel or frequency I use. This issue with the hidden network does not exist on my previous fire (HD 8"). Even during troubleshooting, the 8 is connected and running normally. The 10's inability to connect to my Wifi network, like all of my other devices, is an unexpected issue to face right away. It's the year 2021, and the device I bought is supposed to be a replacement. br>br>What's worse, I can add a network manually. This device has been configured to work with cloaked networks. You know, the kind of thing that wireless devices are capable of doing all the time. However, as soon as I hide the SSID (after successfully connecting the 10 to the Wifi), the Fire disconnects and indicates that it is out of range. Oops. I completely forgot to attempt a router reset. Ha! That was a blatantly false statement. I went through the process of resetting everything several times. br>br>Earlier, when I said "worst part," I lied again: Things are only going to get worse. Blue is a completely useless color. I've attached a photo that shows the differences between my HD 8 and the new Fire 10. I'm not sure who approved this device as "ready" realizes that the blue color is associated with nighttime. Or maybe I'm just a member of their obnoxious customer base who uses it in the dark. It's possible that it's a hardware issue: I'd have liked to have known about it ahead of time. br>br>I'd think that in the HD10, you could make the screen even darker to make it easier to not disturb a partner while watching or reading something in bed. With the room lights off, the Blue shade on, and the screen brightness turned all the way down, this thing is uncomfortably bright. br>br>It's pointless to me because it's inconvenient to use. I'm returning it and pretending that my HD 8 has been upgraded by removing ads from it.

For the money, this is a great screen with good quality
5/5

The keyboard case is quite nice, and it transforms the keyboard into a small laptop. It's simple to use and reacts without lag. I like the memory expansion option; it meets my needs. If you want to listen to music or watch television while reading the news or surfing the web, the split screen feature is ideal. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> It's been about three weeks since I got it. It appeals to me even now. It serves me well as a laptop for entertainment. It does a fantastic job with email, streaming services, Kindle and Audible books, Amazon photos, and so on. The 256GB memory chip was added after that. It's not a work laptop replacement, but it's great for entertainment and home use if you're tired of using your smartphone and want a bigger screen without having to buy a full-fledged laptop. That is, in my opinion, what this is ideal for. I like the keyboard and find it useful as a good quality storage case in addition to being a keyboard; I am satisfied with it and would purchase it again. br>br>Updated 12 August 2021: This has been in my possession for the past two years. I've been doing it for 5 months and I'm still having a great time. I believe it is ideal for what I was looking for - I still wouldn't recommend it as a work laptop replacement, but if you're looking for something to read the news, watch TV on the go with a hotspot on your phone, check email, surf the web, and do your online shopping - this is the machine for you. Get this along with the keyboard case, in my opinion. This is the best deal on the market right now for the money.
