Questions & Answers

Are you able to use this with PS5?

It states that a PCIe Gen4 x4 M card is supported in the PlayStation 5 support document. The capacity of 2 NVMe SSDs is 250GB to 4TB it has sequential read speeds of 5,500MB/s or faster it supports modules with a width of 22mm, but not with a length of 25mm it supports M form factors. The type 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 exist in two variants. There are two kinds of sockets If you have socket 3 (Key M) and the dimensions are smaller than 110mm by 25mm by 11, you will not be able to use it. The height of the shoe is 25mm. A measurement of less than 4 inches. Approximately 33 inches long by 0.1 inches wide. A 984in x a 0in x a 0in rectangle. As long as the PlayStation 5 meets the above requirements, this product should work on it.

Can this drive endure. IE how long can it last. Is there a limit to how much it can write before it fails?

According to WD, their 1TB black drives come with 600TB. In other words, you have a 99 percent chance of being able to surpass that number in worst case scenarios. If you're not a large enterprise server, this drive will last you a decade or more.

What is the better investment a MLC, a TLC, or a QLC?

This device is equipped with Kioxia BiCS4 96L TLC flash memory

How long will it take to install on an Alienware R8?

You don't want it that way. Pcie gen 3 speeds are the only ones available for the R8. Gen 3 speeds would be compatible with this drive in the R8. This drive would not offer the full performance of the processor due to its pcie gen4 speed. In fact, only AMD Zen 2 and Zen 3 CPUs on the X570 and B550 chipset motherboards are capable of pcie gen4 speed. A Z370 chipset is used for the R8. The CPU is made by Intel.

The PS5 version is amazing and I like it a lot! Sony sent me a beta SSD update for my PlayStation 5, so I bought the 2 TB WD SN 850 as soon as I got it
5/5

Today I received it and installed it. It is a game changer, as games load faster than with the stock internal SSD that came with I am happy to spend the money on my console for years of enjoyment, even though the drive is expensive. Whether it's the small size or the large size for PS5 gamers, I strongly recommend them.

Fast
5/5

Installed the drive and Windows, and I'm now getting close to the speed specs, but I still have a few things to figure out. I suggest you read my tips it may help you and save you some frustration, and you may even avoid returning the item. If you want to take advantage of those maximum speeds, you'll need this installed in a PCIe 4 slot. With a PCIe 4. x compatible motherboard, you can install the latest graphics cards. There is no CPU compatible with this driver. A Ryzen 3900X powered by an Asus X570 Tuf Gaming Plus is running this in my system. You need to install it in the M as well. Initially I had it connected to the chipset which is slower in the bottom slot below the PCIe slots, which is closest to the CPU. When I originally put it there I was getting about half the write speeds until I switched it to the slot closest to the CPU. It is also necessary to download and install the WD SSD Dashboard to enable the Gaming Mode because otherwise, speeds won't be as fast. After doing those two things, I am now getting close to advertised speeds and am happy with the results. If anything changes in the future, I will update my review.

I'll tell you one thing, you've got to get your act together
3/5

My original purchase was a WD 2tb NVME to serve as my primary OS, but even with the software they provided, it could not migrate/clone properly. Also, I downloaded a third-party migration/cloning program and it did not work. For 1, I tried nearly everything I could think of. There are five days left! Moreover, I tried manually backing up and then restoring, followed by The system did not work. This was a total waste of time. I learned nothing in the process, other than learning that I should be looking for a company that is going to offer me a comprehensive solution that doesn't waste your time. There is nothing to show for five days. My first NVME drive was a Samsung 1TB NVME and my second NVME drive was a Samsung 2TB NVME. It was an easy migration. I was done in about 15 minutes! As well, I previously migrated from a corsair SSD to a Samsung 1tb NVME disk (when I couldn't get the migration of another SSD to work smoothly), and I experienced no problems. How come I didn't go with the Samsung 2TB hard drive instead of the WD hard drive? There were positive reports about it in the press. Unlike many people, I don't like to stick to one solution, so I try several options. I made a mistake there. The experience has led me to conclude that Samsung is the best at providing a comprehensive package of the best hardware and software of all their competitors. FLAWLESS is the best way to describe the experience. So far, I have not encountered any problems with any of their storage solutions. My review is a product of the need to share my experiences. I wasted 1 because I wasted time. There are 5 days left. Eventually, something has to come We can hope that someone will take advantage of this or maybe WD gets on the ball and creates cloning/migration software to support their hardware which seems to be terrific. I own HD/SSD/MicroSDs by WD (only old HDs), Sandisk (microSDs and SSDS), Seagate (HD), and Samsung (SSDs, Micro SDs, and NVMEs) that I purchased and paid for myself.

The price was good, but I could have got 1TB for the same amount
5/5

Corrections, please The results are better than I had expected. It is equipped with a 500 GB WD Black SN850 drive. The SSD I got is quite fast, especially considering how much I spent on it. It is the same as the others, just more expensive. I ran the game on a new 11th gen Intel 11400 CPU with a new Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite motherboard and Corsair 3200 RAM. All the drivers and program were installed in Windows 10. The temperature was 102 F at the beginning and reached 127 F after the 6th run. It had an ab The firmware has been updated to version 1. 1. With game mode on and WD dash enabled, the 613000WD looks perfectly normal. If you want to spend the same amount of money on an SSD, you should buy a 1TB SSD. Thanks for letting me know. The following edits have been made What I said earlier is no longer true. My system is now flying. Every aspect of the system, from gaming to audio ripping, seems to work as if it were already loaded in RAM rather than a hard drive. Three USB ports are available. It seems like 0 are coming so fast that I have to double check to make sure I've Here is a picture I posted from 4 My progress is quickening as I go along. When I looked at the 7, I was so fascinated. From 0000 to This thing is so fast, I didn't realize it was so fast until I reached the 000 mark. OK, so I'm sorry for my so-called mistakes, WD I retract everything I said earlier except for the . WD 500 gig was too small for the job. I should have gotten the 1 gig WD. It is a shame, but I will If something else happens with it, I'll update you. It's been a while since my last speed test, but this is the newest one (which is speeding up), plus my boot-up time is about 5 seconds now. The bios screen appears seven seconds after booting up.

Consumer SSDs with the best performance
5/5

The results of the TweakTown review are similar. Games, programming, and content creation are all great uses for it. I'm noticing it's considerably faster than the HP EX950 I just replaced, which was already a quick old dog.

This is a great place to store games
5/5

The WD SN850 2TB and Samsung 980 Pro 1TB are both purchased via Amazon. Plans were to install Windows 10 on the Samsung and play games on the WD (so long as it was still full). Whether it was good or bad, we installed Samsung in the M. This WD goes in the slot with the closest proximity to the CPU and the coupler in the slot further away. I did not realize it would make so much of a difference at the time. Based on the results, Samsung has a read speed of around 7000 and WD has a read speed of In summary, it is a good day. It is important to know which slot one puts the drive in. How do I make the I haven't made up my mind yet. I will just get smaller speeds on my Samsung if I do so. In either case, they have great performance, so they will both remain as they are It takes a short time to boot up. The time to resume sleep is 4 minutes This will take five I'm satisfied with everything. I think the games load fairly fast.

When connected with a USB, it might not be usable as a SSD If you connect it to some USB-compatible systems, it will not be detected by Windows or certain operating systems Generate a Gen2 connection through C
3/5

This was very odd, but it did work with a USB-connected device C plugs are not compatible with Gen2 connectors. Using USB-OPEN compatible cables is recommended Neither C Gen1 nor C Gen2 could be found either. I suspect that it has something to do with the incompatibility of the Gen4 PCIe design with USB. Generation 1 (C) and certain Generation 2 (G) computers. It is best to use M only. This connection has two lines.

Rather than the predicted score of 38781, I got a score of 33194 on Passmark
5/5

There is a big difference between those two. The installation of the turbo ram is easy, but please use one of the CPU slots, not the motherboard as I did with my TRX0 There is a problem with slot 40. It was likely too low to get a sensible speed score by cloning. A Windows USB had to be used from scratch for the installation. It is important to get a It is not all that much faster than my other WD and Seagate drives and an Intel 900P. I wouldn't buy one to replace the other. When setting up a new computer, this is the best SSD to choose. If you could tell me the trick to reaching 38781 speed on Passmark, I would appreciate it. No this new WD drive does not cause my rig to crash, as it does not crash with my old similar drives.
