I picked up this 870 because Amazon listed that it was a new model when I looked up the 860 I intended to purchase. I'm glad I did! Man, I'm glad I did! I received a performance increase at a cost of $10 more, but that is nothing compared to the overall impact on my productivity! The 870 is definitely an upgrade over the 860 i previously had in this same laptop. Usually when a product gets an update it's not that impressive, but that isn't the case with the 870 vs the 860 i previously had. In comparison to an 860, the performance boost is ridiculous. When I moved to a 970 M, I felt the same way. The difference between type 2 and standard SATA SSDs. The thought of saying this shocks me! Don't think twice! Get one now!.

I am happy with the performance of my drive. The HDD on an old PC is better than a new one. A spinning HDD on an ASUS all-in-one PC from 2016 needed to be replaced. A Samsung copy program in two different versions did not work for me. The copies appear to have been run by both individuals. Instead of Windows 10, I installed the SSD on the C drive and the old C drive was replaced. Go to the Samsung site listed with the drive. There are no downloads for the 870 SSD there. I therefore used the generic version of the program. One Samsung website did have a copy version specifically for the 870 SSD, so I searched another site. These two methods did not work. The last software I used was This took half the time and I was able to make a copy without problems. In the beginning, a 3. 25 HDD was used. I would say 5 inches. The Lenovo AIO PC I have came with a 500 GB 3D drive. With the computer getting older, and the Windows 10 updates keep coming, the hard drive seemed to be slowing the system down. Although the cloning of the existing drive was not easy, it took only 11 minutes and the software (a link to free cloning software) provided was incredibly easy. In order to reassemble the unit, I removed the old drive, mounted the new SSD with Gorilla tape, and reinstalled it. In comparison to before, boot up is taking about 1/4th as long, mostly during the post-boot process and it is way more quiet. Due to the lack of space for mounting the SSD, I used a loop formed from gorilla tape to place the SSD in the place where the old HDD used to reside. I may apply Velcro at a later date to secure the SSD. By using Samsung Magician software (free as well, link provided), I can see that reading/writing times have reduced significantly. Overall, I highly recommend this drive for those who are seeking to replace an aging or slow hard drive.
It happened that I was going to order this, but my old hard drive died. I am constantly amazed by the performance of this drive. The speeds are insane, and the fact that it saves so much space in the case is very welcome. My new HDD provides the same amount of storage as my old HDD, but it all transfers over in no time and boots to the desktop in no more than A great upgrade for anyone in the market for one.
