Questions & Answers

If I add a second nf- to the equation, it becomes more complicated. 15-inch push-button fan Is there any way to improve the performance? If so, how much of a difference do you think it'll make?

With two fans, I saw a temperature drop of about 1C in my casual testing. Turbulence, on the other hand, causes a significant increase in noise. Even with only one fan, it performs admirably. If you go with two, make sure the fans are the same. When I used a Noctua box-style fan, the noise was much higher.

Can I wear this on my head to keep cool if my air conditioning goes out?

It is dependent on your head's surface.

Why does the description say 140mm, but the specifications on the Nocuta website say noctua nf-140mm? a15 pwm? Is it a fan with a diameter of 140mm or 150mm?

The only difference between this fan and a standard 140mm fan is that the frame isn't square. The dimensions of the fans are as follows: 140x150x25mm are the dimensions of this item.

Under heavy loads on all cores, the 3960x could not be kept cool
3/5

Pros: It is relatively simple to set up. Quiet. br>br>Cons: Not well constructed. br>br> Even with the second 140mm fan installed, a 3960x CPU cannot stay below the thermal throttle temperature for more than 2 to 3 minutes when all cores are fully loaded. br>br>Prior to purchase, Noctua support was contacted and asked if this unit could prevent a 3960x from exceeding the throttle temperature under all core loads. They confirmed that it had been tested and that it would keep the CPU cool even when all cores were under heavy load for long periods of time. br>br>However, this was not the case. When the CPU was subjected to intensive workloads, temperatures quickly surpassed 90 degrees Celsius. br>Noctua support was contacted once more to determine whether the unit was defective or if an installation error had occurred. Temperatures in this range, according to Noctua support, were expected this time. br>br>At those temperatures, the CPU slows down. As a result, according to Noctua support, the U14S is clearly incapable of keeping a 3960x within its temperature specifications under all core loads.

It was suggested that the best option be a custom loop or an AIO
5/5

I'm a render artist who also works as a. I bought the Threadripper 1950X when it was first released, and after reading reviews on cooling, I decided that a custom loop or AIO would be the best option. I work as a render artist and have my CPU under 100% load for the majority of the day. The TR4 360m AIO from Enermax was purchased. I used to see temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius on idle and 60 degrees Celsius under full load. br>br>After two months, the idle temperature was 45 degrees Celsius, and the full load temperature was 75 degrees Celsius, with the four fans becoming increasingly loud. When I contacted Enermax about the defective unit and customer service, I received no response. br>br>This weekend, I installed the Noctua NH-100. With temperatures at 35°C on idle and 60°C, often less, under full load, the U14S in a push/pull configuration has already seen a significant improvement. br>br>In a push/pull configuration, Noctua's heatsink outperforms a 360mm radiator. I'm excited to see what Threadripper 2 has in store for you!.

For half the cost of a high-end liquid cooling system, you can get great cooling performance
5/5

I bought the Noctua U14s to replace my Enermax Liqtech TR4 360mm, which failed and leaked all over my GTX1080Ti and PSU after only two months of moderate use (By the way, Enermax, if you're reading this, your customer service is terrible). I never seem to be able to contact anyone). Despite the fact that this air cooled the heat-producing heat-producing heat-producing heat- At idle, the sink does not bring my CPU temperatures below 32°C. It keeps my the 1950x below 50'C at 75% load extremely well. To be honest, I do a lot of virtual labs and flight simulators (as a hobby) and my CPU usage rarely exceeds 20 50%. The good thing about this fan/heater is that it can be used for both cooling and heating. The sink is quiet in comparison to the Enermax Liqtech 360 (the Enermax makes a 777-like noise at times). The GE90s of the 300er are getting ready for a full-fledged mission. takeoff with high thrust). If you're on the fence about whether to go with liquid cooling or air cooling, try the Noctua U14s. You won't be disappointed, and you won't have to worry about your expensive setup being ruined by your AIO liquid cooling system leaking all over it. The only thing that makes this heat bearable is the fact that Because of its size, the sink will obstruct either memory bank 0 or 4 on the Gigabyte Aorus X399 (I didn't have this problem, but it's something to keep in mind for those of you who will use all banks).

Given its size and price in comparison to previous Noctua offerings, it delivers a surprising amount of performance
5/5

It's a fantastic heatsink and fan combination. I didn't know what to expect coming from the much (much!) (much!) (much! ) (much! ) (much! ) (much! ) ( Noctua D- is a larger species of Noctua. 14 with its dual fans and more complicated design, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well this unit performed. It performs similarly at a lower cost and with a far more straightforward design. br>br>It's a real shame that the D- is so low. The 14 does not have a TR4 adapter, despite the fact that it has lasted me through three or four different motherboard/processor combinations. However, given the sheer size of the socket, this is understandable. br>br>Returning to New Hampshire- SP3/TR4 (these are two names for the same socket, by the way; AMD Threadripper CPUs do not share the AM4 socket with the Ryzen lineup; It's also the same socket that AMD's upcoming Epyc server processors will use, though you'll probably want a smaller cooler to fit in a 2U - This one won't fit anywhere other than a 4U): There is no obstruction of the PCI-DSS, contrary to what other reviewers (and review sites) claim. You don't need the NU-Slots with this model because it has E slots. Unless your case has 20mm less vertical clearance, use the U12S with its 120mm fan instead. This fits perfectly in my NZXT case, provides excellent cooling for my AMD 1950x CPU, and does not obstruct anything on my ASRock Taichi x399 motherboard - If you try to use it with high-resolution images, you'll have a problem. Because the RAM slot closest to the CPU is on the same side as the fan, it will interfere with the 140mm fan. You'll need the NU- if this is the case. The U12S comes with a 120mm fan (or you can purchase a 120mm Noctua separately).

I've never been happier with a purchase than I am right now
5/5

I'm not making this up. TL; This cooler slams it out of the park, keeping my Threadripper 3970X at a steady and consistent 55 degrees Fahrenheit. 60 CPU temp (max 70C package temp) at 100% usage with Prime95 at 100% usage with Prime95 at 100% usage with Prime95 at 100% usage with Prime95 It was a cinch to set up and didn't take long ( br>br>I ordered this because finding decent AIO coolers online is nearly impossible at the moment (they're all sold out), so I figured it'd be a good stopgap while I waited. How good could it be for less than half the price of a decent AIO? I had gotten my hands on a Corsair 115i Platinum, which I had to return because it was a complete waste of money - The radiator was half full of air and audibly sloshed during removal, and the unit would just randomly turn off the pump (allowing the CPU to rapidly reach 90C at idle before shutting down the system). Even when it was "working," idle or load temperatures were not particularly pleasant (or consistent). In fact, the Noctua achieves lower idle and peak temperatures than the AIO. br>br>So, yeah, this unit is highly recommended. Installation was a breeze, instructions were clear, it performs admirably, and I won't have to worry about it leaking fluid all over my case due to poor build quality.
