Which is the superior option? 8TB elements or 8TB my book?

Both of them are in my possession. Both a 3TB My Book and a 6TB Elements are equally good, with three times the storage capacity. 0 usb. The speed at which data is transferred is what makes the difference. Because the Element is newer, its hardware has more powerful features.

Is this game compatible with the PlayStation 4?

Maybe, in my opinion. Although it might work, the PS4's maximum storage capacity is 8TB. My system has 12 TB of storage, but that is due to a 4TB internal drive and an 8TB (Western Digital) external drive. I would not recommend buying anything larger than an 8TB hard drive. Although a larger size may be possible, the 8TB footprint is the only one that will be used.

Will this work on a system with only USB2 ports? 0 ports?

It won't be any faster than a USB2 drive in terms of speed because the PC's port will be the limit. However, it will not be any worse, and it will be much better if you ever get a PC with USB3 ports.

Is there a power adapter included?

For a small business, the service is unreliable. With the help of a few friends, I run a small business. We ordered 18 of these WD 10TB Elements External Hard Drives so that we could each have more storage for our work computers. These drives were chosen because they were rated as being simple to set up and use, as well as having a high level of reliability. They came in six packages, each containing three items. br>br> I started by opening the first package to put them through their paces before bringing them all to work. I plugged it into the wall, inserted the USB drive, and turned it on. Nothing. There was no action taken. I don't have the best technological computer skills, so I couldn't figure out what was wrong, and I didn't want to risk jeopardizing my chances of getting my money back. br>br>I was told that these drives were extremely reliable, but I received one that was dead upon arrival. This is a huge letdown. I wouldn't trust these at work or in the hands of my editors to store sensitive photos and video footage. There was no evidence that the drive had been harmed in transit. That simply means WD installed a bad drive and didn't test it thoroughly enough. br>br>It appears that these drives are in fact in use. When I opened the remaining five boxes, my suspicions were confirmed. Amazon repackaged and resold all 18 packages. Please see the first image I've uploaded to see what I'm talking about. If they are willing to sell re-sold items, it is clear to me that they do not care enough about their customers. I'm returning all of these for a full refund because Amazon has a generous return policy. br>br>Fortunately, Amazon has a generous return policy, so I'm returning all of these for a full refund. I'm not even going to look at the other seventeen. I'm going to look for a better product somewhere else.

Three months after purchase, the 6TB Elements Desktop Drive failed

RMAed. Within three months, the replacement had failed. It had been used as a backup drive, but it failed three months after purchase, rendering the data inaccessible. br>br>Edit 5/23/18 RMA process was painless and simple to complete online, using the standard RMA procedure; It took two days from the time the old drive arrived at the facility to the time the new drive was shipped out. It took about a week in total. We'll have to wait and see how this campaign pans out over the next few months. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: 28th of August, 2018. The drive's RMA Replacement also failed, almost exactly three months after it was delivered.

It was equipped with a WD White Label hard drive

I was able to remove the drive from the enclosure and replace it with a White label WD80EMAZ drive, which is nearly identical to the sought-after RED labeled drive. The performance is excellent. I already have three WD 8TB red hard drives and two WD 8TB white hard drives. br>br>If you get a white label drive and shuck it and put it in your computer and it detects inside the enclosure but not inside the computer, look up the WD white label 3. Modification with three pins. To stop the drive from power cycling, you'll have a few options. You will not be disappointed if you purchase a solid-state drive. br>br>For the same type of drive, you can choose between this and the WD easystore drive. The WD Mybook, I believe, also has this feature.

Customer service won't help you if it's dead after 5 months

I bought the 8TB elements drive to consolidate a lot of data that was scattered across several smaller, older drives. I planned to buy another and raid it once I had all of the data copied over; this way, I'd have a backup of everything. Always have a back-up plan in place. I suppose I took a small risk by not purchasing two of these drives right away so that I would never be without a backup, but I simply didn't have the funds at the time to do so. br>br>Here's a breakdown of the entire timeline. I bought a hard drive and let it sit for a month before using it. I transferred about 3TB of data to it and then let it sit for another month before using it. less sat for a few months (unplugged on my desk) with the occasional removal of a piece of software or movie/music (not heavily used, I'd estimate less than 3 hours of use after the initial transfer), plugged it in about 3 days ago and moved some pictures to it, plugged it in today and it returns uninitialized without recognizing any of the drive space I've had this drive for less than 5 months, and any attempts to interact with it result in "the request failed due to a fatal device hardware error. " " I experimented with a variety of cables to see if that was the problem; That wasn't the case. br>br>Well, f*** it. I've done some data recovery before, which is one of the reasons I bought this drive and began the process of consolidating and backing everything up. But, before I go all out, I'd like to say a couple of things. After a wild stripping of the case, running diagnostics, and attempting to recover everything myself, I decided to call WD customer service to see if they could help. I'm not in the market for a new project right now, and this will be one for me (perhaps someone more experienced would have no problems). br>br>Anyway, I reached out to customer service, who were extremely helpful. When I inquired about data recovery, they graciously informed me that it would cost between $400 and $1,000. 700 dollars, and it had to be done through one of their contracted data recovery companies, with no guarantees. When I asked what I could do to the drive, they kindly told me that almost anything I did would void the warranty and they wouldn't be able to replace it; they also told me that any drive I received in exchange for this one would be a refurbished drive that might or might not have cosmetic wear, might or might not have factory packaging, and would have no guarantees of having less than a certain number of drive hours on it. That's right, the "warranty" replaces your drive with another, previously defective drive! "We're sorry the drive we sent you broke; we'll gladly send you another drive that also broke!" "br>br>To summarize, my drive broke after five months of light use and proper treatment, and their customer service told me they'd be happy to send me a second hand drive in exchange for the POS one they sent me in the first place, with no help whatsoever with data recovery. br>br>In the end, I'll keep the drive, remove it from its case, and see if plugging it in directly to the drive fixes the "hardware error" (though I doubt it). Amy's replacement is almost worthless, and I doubt it will last more than a few months; I guess I'll have to accept defeat. br>br>You can spend your money however you want, but I'm not going to give any of mine to Western Digital. Crooks. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I disassembled the drive and used a $16 SATA adapter to connect it directly to the HDD; I had no problems accessing the drive; the failure was entirely due to the Western Digital enclosure.

Keeps failing over and over again

Normally, I hold off on writing reviews until I've had a chance to use a product thoroughly, but I've had no luck even trying to use HDD to its full potential! br>br>After the first HDD failed right out of the box, I ordered a replacement from Amazon. So I was initially pleased to see that it was finally recognized when plugged in, and then I initialized it in Windows 10's Disk Management (it did not appear on my computer automatically). However, the connection failed during a critical 1 TB file transfer, and I was never able to recover or view the copied files. br>br>Because the HDD was not recognized on several PCs, I went into Disk Management and discovered it was labeled "unknown. " " When I first started it, I was given two choices: GPT vs. MBR Each time I selected an option, I received the following error message: "An I/O device error prevented the request from being completed. " I attempted to use a variety of ports (USB 2, USB 3, etc. ). 0 as well as USB 3. 1). Furthermore, I tried a different USB connection cable that came with another WD HDD and got the same result.
